Ravens, Jets off to fast start

Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez fumbles after getting hit by Ed Reed of the Ravens in Baltimore Reuters

Sunday Night Football has had three great finishes in three games this year.

Ravens-Jets is off to a pretty sweet start.

The score is 7-7 early and we haven’t had an offensive score. Ed Reed’s sacked Mark Sanchez, forcing a fumble that Jameel McClain recovered for a score.

Joe McKnight returned the ensuing kickoff 107 yards for a touchdown to tie the score for the Jets.

Rex Ryan, as usual, is off to a FAT start. Keep blaming the center, not Mark Sanchez.

  12. angelosdraftboard says: Oct 2, 2011 9:48 PM

Uh Oh. Mike Carey is officiating tonight. Get ready for some of his usual cointroversial calls that normally result in a late back door cover or game changer. Guy is as crooked as a politician and has been doing it for years.

The Jets are not for real.

    True story.

  14. str82dvd says: Oct 2, 2011 9:51 PM

Rexy — who I absolutely love — needs to take a hard look at Sanchez. Guy kind of sucks.

Watching the Yets getting trounced 20-7 halfway through the second quarter, and LOVING it!!!

Ooops, Sanchez fumbles for the second time, it’s 27-7!!!!!! Sure not looking like an MVP quarterback tonight!

Looks like that Beagles-Yets Super Bowl is on hold this year, huh?

    Here we go again….

mike, text michaels and collinsworth and tell them that when the ball goes backward when the arm goes forward….it’s a lateral….and a live ball fumble.
also…..if the defender gets blocked into the kicker/punter, there’s no roughing. like the ump and ref in the backfield both missed it…Jesus.

  21. promin1 says: Oct 2, 2011 10:03 PM

Way to waste a timeout just to yell at the refs Rex. Well I guess you wont need them since you are getting your rear end handed to you. LOL. Jets suck!

  22. joebloww says: Oct 2, 2011 10:03 PM

Right now I think it’s pretty safe to say.

  25. stanmackley says: Oct 2, 2011 10:07 PM

i cant stand the jets, but that “empty hand” ruling that went against sanchez was ridiculously horrible. the nfl officials are failing to call this consistently, and it is getting idiotic.

Looks like King Rex and brother Rob are following in the footsteps of their father in letting their mouths write checks that their butts cannot cover.

First, Rob says that Calvin Johnson is not a quality WR, and Rex continues to tout the greatness of his squad and its toughness.

Looks like they both took gas this weekend.

  29. sryref says: Oct 2, 2011 10:11 PM

I don’t give a twit about either team, but didn’t the D lineman (missed his name) lower his helmet to hit Sanchez in the back. Is Carey blind as well as ignorant? Rhetorical, I know the answer already.

  30. stampnhawk says: Oct 2, 2011 10:12 PM

  34. melikefootball says: Oct 2, 2011 10:26 PM

  35. ampatsisahypocrite says: Oct 2, 2011 10:26 PM

And at the half, it’s Baltimore defense 14, Joe Flacco -7.

Seriously, is there another QB in football who gets so much for doing so little? Flacco is as bad as Baltimore’s defense is good.

You said it, promini — Flacco flat out sucks.

  37. ppdoc13 says: Oct 2, 2011 10:29 PM

what a weird game. the jets OL is horrible. If not for special teams and Ray Rice breaking off his pattern it would be 27 – 0.

@promin1 – who gives a crap what you think. Last time I checked Flacco has made the playoffs every year he has been in the NFL. Want to talk about sucks – talk about Sanchize. If he wasn’t in NY he would get no pub at all. His arm is a noodle

What don’t Michaels and Collinsworth know the rule re: punts?

It sounded like Al Michaels knew what was going on, but Collinsworth kept yammering about the initial contact with the ball blah blah blah.

The Jets are a mess and have a lot of problems, but what’s with these Steelers fans rooting for the Ravens? I don’t care how much disdain you have for Rex Ryan or the Jets. Rooting for the Ravens? Really? FRAUDS. And Pittsburgh is just as bad and have just as many problems as the Jets do right now. So STFU.

Carey ruled the ball went backwards. Even if the arm is going foward, a backwards pass is always a lateral (fumble). You need to take a rules class, along with Michaels and Collinsworth…

They both blabbed about a missed call and then the next time the Jets punter got hit, they came to their senses.
just like the 2 of them going on for a hour when Roethlisberger got hit and yapped about the arm going forward……when ball went backwards. These guys are more concerned about making some noise or controversy than they are just calling the game. I like AM….CC is ans has always been a whiney tool.

Rex has painted a huge target on the Jets back…. Seems he does more to motivate the Jets opponents rather than his own team with his oversized mouth. On another note, that Jets offensive/defensive lines are downright offensive. Sanchez looks normal though, turnover machine.

  61. geniusfan says: Oct 2, 2011 11:23 PM

Has there ever been a game where to quarterbacks played worse than Flacco and Sanchez are?

    These two are pathetic.

  63. nyjalleffingday says: Oct 2, 2011 11:35 PM

Its hardly the refs fault. They were awful again but the B-More defense is stifling, and the Jets O has just been pathetic. Especially the O-Line, dear lord. Even if Sanchez had aany chance of having a good game, it went out the window after 2 fumbles for 6, a pick 6 and getting a permanent case of happy feet from the disgustingly effective baltimore pass rush. UGH.

  64. ppdoc13 says: Oct 2, 2011 11:35 PM

@jetters- yes Sanchize has made the playoffs 2 years in a row. In in comparison to Flacco he is behind in every single category. But Flacco is without question having a bad game.

And by the way it is 34 – 17 in the 4th qtr. ha ha. the fat lady is warming up right now.

  65. ny82jy says: Oct 2, 2011 11:37 PM

The refs have made some bad calls but as a jets fan i will even say this game is pathetic. The jets offense and especially their oline is terrible. I cannot stand shotty!! He has got to be the worst coordinater in the effin league. I dont think they have called one dam play tonight where they threw the ball more than 15 yds down the field. They cant run and they take a million penaltys. The defense has actually been good tonight but you wouldnt know it since the offense turns it over everytime they get it. Everyone have at it the jets deserve to be ripped on here and i wont he defending them at all this week.

  66. thepowerofgreen says: Oct 2, 2011 11:48 PM

Well the game is done…the Ravens didn’t beat the Jets..the Jets beat the Jets…we will see in you in playoffs and I promise the game will be different

  67. ppdoc13 says: Oct 2, 2011 11:56 PM

@jetters149 – hahaha. the game is over. you got spanked by 3 scores and likely will get your heads handed to you next week by the Pats. Wonder how much talk Rexy is going to be doing after tonight. His offense pissed down its collective leg. Granted, you were missing your all pro center, but we were missing our best OL in Ben Grubbs who should be an all pro.

Sanchize is truly the most overrated QB in the game. If he wasn’t in NY he would be the nobody he really is.

Have a nice week. I sure as hell will. Bye week to get healthy and then get to play Houston hopefully without Andre Johnson.

  68. ppdoc13 says: Oct 3, 2011 12:03 AM

The other thing that needs to be said it that it is time for the Ravens fans who wanted Rex to be the Head Coach to belly up to the bar and admit that the owner was right. Harbs has now played Sexy Rexy twice. He beat him in his home opener in his new stadium in NY and just b!tch slapped him all around the field tonight. His defense made Sanchez look like the QB he is. Overrated.

Bottom line – The Ravens have played the Jets 7 times since 1996 and the Jets have yet to beat us. You NY’ers can keep big mouth. He is a good coach and runs a great defense. But his mouth gets him in trouble. I’d rather have Harbs. Talk to me all you want about how the players would rather play for Rex than Harbs, but if you gave truth serum to Derrick Mason, Bart Scott etc I am willing to bet that at least one of them (Mason for sure) would say he wished he was still a Raven. Bart only wanted to leave so that he could be out of Ray Rays shadow. And while he has done well, he is not, has never been, and never will be even close to the player that Ray Lewis has been throughout his career.

  69. ampatsisahypocrite says: Oct 3, 2011 12:04 AM

I have NEVER seen a QB carried by the rest of his team like Flacco.

Seriously, your team is up 20 and your QB has gone 8 for 27?

Flacco is why the Ravens will never win a ring.
