Now, onto real discussion.

If they don’t do a better job of protecting Jen, he is not going to make it through this season. He was taking some hellacious hits. Had not the refs been wearing black and gold the score after the first half would likely have been somewhere in the 30′s for the Texans. They had an inordinate number of penalties compared to the Steelers.

When is someone who is a talking head make mention of how many tackles Troy P is missing now? He not only has lost a step, he may have lost 2. The only saving grace for the Steelers right now is the kid Mike Wallace. That guy is really, really, good.

I used to always be worried about the Steelers in the AFCN. Not this year. If the Ravens don’t win the AFCN it is because they blew it and let the Steelers have the division.

The truth of the matter is that this edition of the Steelers is frankly only average. I know it hurts Steelers fans, but it is the truth. Take it from one of your biggest rivals. You just don’t have it this year. And your major problem is that the things that need to be addressed, can not be addressed in season. You need to get younger and faster like the Ravens did this year. The only way to do that is through the draft. But at the same time you need major work on the offensive line. The only piece of the OL worth keeping right now is your center.

This may be wishful thinking on my part, but it would not surprise me in the slightest if the Browns came in second behind the Ravens this year. Sorry Deb, but your front office really let you down this year and Ben can’t do it by himself. In fact, when he tries to do too much he makes mistakes like he did this afternoon.

When the Steeler defense can’t hold the other team to 10 points or get a defensive score Roethlisberger CANNOT get the win.

The Steelers defense is still good. But it is down a notch from previous years. And, yes, it is slower.
