The Lions will beat your team this year, too. And that last pathetic bit of self worth you had remaining – the one that had you telling yourselves “at least my team can beat the Lions” – will finally die inside; leaving you a cold, delusion-less cinder of self-loathing.

The only fans that should be allowed to talk smack on the Lions boards right now are Green Bay fans; but they are a surprisingly decent bunch of people so I can’t hate. I’ll just say good luck and hope the Lions can win because Green Bay appears to be unstoppable right now.

it was a joke. when cris carter was cut from the eagles by Buddy Ryan in the 80′s he said it was because HE ONLY CAUGHT TOUCHDOWN PASSES. Carter then of course went on to have a HOF career and admitted Buddy Ryan, as a players coach like his son Rex was cutting Carter because he was having drug and alcohol problems and needed a change of scenery.

Calvin Johnson may not just be the best WR in the league, he MAY go on to be the best WR in league history – he is like Randy Moss but with heart. The guy has played on some of the worst teams with a revolving door and QB and never openly complained. Guess Matt Millen did one thing right.

btw – congrats to the lions fans. you deserve a good team. give cris carter a break. he has a ton of guys breathing down his neck for a job he isn’t a natural at and at least he didn’t rip his former coaches and teammates ala tiki.

As to the argument that we haven’t beat anybody KC won their division last season and retained most of those players. Tampa went 10-6 and missed the playoffs by 1 game (hey didn’t we beat them last year late in the season?) Tampa’s also off to a good start this year (3-1 if they win tonight). Dallas is always in the mix for the playoffs as well. As I said before, we know we have a long way to go, we’re just excited for our team for the first time in a long time. Also, good teams win the games they’re supposed to win.

One final point, to the gentleman who said Calvin is nothing without Stafford.

Before this season, Calvin has had Stafford for parts of 13 games over 2 seasons. In 2008 before Stafford came along, CJ had over 1300 yards and 12 TDs with guys like Kitna, Culpepper and Orlovsky at QB. In 2010 Calvin had an 1100 yard season with 12. Stafford played only 3 games. In those 3 games CJ had 1 game with 3TDs (none in the other 2) and 159 yards. Leaving 9 TDs and 1000 yards in the games without Matt and with Shaun Hill and Drew Stanton.

The MVP will go to either Brady or Rodgers, those dudes are gonna set some sort of passing record this year.

Been a Lions fan sine 1981 man, have lived in Chicago the last 7 years and have worn my colors proud at ALL stops. We’ve won the last 8 games that mattered and the last 12 times we’ve taken the field total. Unless you’re a packer fan ya might want to check your tongue. As all you punk a ss fans have said for how long “If you’re team ain’t winning then STFu”??? Packers/Lions = ONLY undefeated teams left. Well, our team was horrible for quite awhile and we knew it…so we had to sit and listen all of your smack talk for years…and we listened, and now the tables have turned and you can’t seem to handle it.
