Nice try for a comeback, but it won't wash. We both know which of us has staked out the "holier than thou" territory on the football blog. I'm not the one routinely calling down hellfire and brimstone on all these amoral players and coaches. And breaking down "homeboy" into its parts won't tighten your grip on the straws you were grasping.

As for me not having balls, well, thank goodness! If I did, I might have to think with them like you guys do most of the time. :D

Burnett is doing a great job filling the off-the-field role that Channing Crowder held. Sadly, though, Crowder performed better on the field. Does that show that everyone was wrong and Crowder really isn't that bad of a player? Or that everyone was right, but Burnett just sucks that much more?

Deb says:
What white reporter? The reporter was black. That’s why Burnett called him “homeboy.” GET it? (Do you always assume reporters are white?)

Awww, another chance to lecture an African American on racism … thwarted! Darn!
---------------------------------------------------------------
Another "holier than thou" post from the legendary Deb.

Why would I think Omar Kelly was white? Well, first of all, at least four posters ahead of me mentioned him being white, and being that I don't live in Miami and I'm not familiar with the Dolphins beat writers, why would I challenge that?

All of which ignores the fact that it doesn't MATTER that Kelly is black. Burnett called another man "boy". Not just "homeboy", but BOY.

I know you think you're an expert on everything, Miss Deb, but the one thing you CAN'T be an expert on is being a "guy", and when one guy calls another guy "boy", there's no other way to spin it; it's an insult, a put-down, and Kevin Burnett was dead wrong for that.

You may THINK you have a set of balls, Deb, but you don't. You could never understand how wrong Burnett was for this; black or otherwise, he was WRONG, and every "guy"here knows that.

Awww, another chance to lecture a male on sexism … thwarted! Darn!

I think it's disrespectful to call any other man "boy" regardless of color.

And considering the racially charged past of that word, ridiculous for a black man to call another one that.

It's like calling him the "N" word. Which I also find ridiculous that the practice is widely accepted by blacks when THEY use it.

(See Whoopi explanation on this..)

Anyhoos here's another prime example of Irelands GM skills. He lets go of Channing Crowder (team leader and no tackling skills) for a high priced Kevin Burnett (no team lead skills and no tackling skills)?! Kinda like the upgrade he's done to everything else.

Good. Finally someone calls out the Miami media for the negativity they install in that locker room. I know the dolphins haven’t won. But they have been in every one of these games late. F U Miami media!

So are you. Not to defend the inexcusable use of “amazon” (seriously asublimeday, look up what “amazon” is), but the proper grammar is “you’re”. Not “your”. “Your” is possessive, as in “Your team sucks.” “You’re” is a contraction of “you are”, as in “You’re making it hard for us to ever believe you were a student.”

I'm seeing a number of comments to the effect that reporters/media members are a bunch of leeches feeding off the skills and hard work of the players in order to make money. This I don't dispute. The flip side of that is that without said media members drawing attention to the sport and assuring that us fans are able to get our football fix every day of the week and not just on Sundays, those players aren't making the same kind of money they do now. Red Grange's games weren't on TV. Red Grange didn't have websites devoted to reporting and dissecting his every word. And Red Grange never got a fat $25 mil. signing bonus. So it's not just the reporters, but the players. The players are leeches too.

And don't forget about us! Without us coming daily to places like this, there would be no media to broadcast the games and write the stories laced with ads that pay for the sport that we like to watch so it gets covered for us. Everybody's sucking everybody's blood in this equation.

Any school that hands a masters degree to someone who uses double negatives should immediately have the accreditation revoked.

I don't not think he didn't not never get that degree not the honest way without never not doing no hard work, homeboy.

Hey dopes, next time you have a free minute take a look around the league and find out how many owners, coaches (including head coaches), GM's and scouts have never played a down of football. Means absolutely nothing. They aren't designing high rises, they are playing a frigging game. I don't care if burnett has a masters or a doctorate he made himself sound like a classless uneducated jerk and if i was his alma mater I would pull his diploma. Remember these guys get millions to play a game. They make a sacrfice with their bodies I get it, but so does the guy who works in a power or chemical plant and make 35K per year. When I do not perform my job at an expected level I hear about it, when these overpaid jerks like this guy don't play well he should expect to hear about it. Would love to know if he attended the classes for rookies when he came into the league... probably had something better to do. lastly cool it with the black and white...last time I checked it is 2011 and I cannot imagine many white folks on here asked a black person to move to the back of the bus just like I cannot imagine a black person on here was ever a slave. This idiot should be calling out his teammates that stink...however, they are probably bigger than him. I just wasted 5 minutes trying to find out what his degree is in....ironically listed nowhere...

Well, this wasn't a wise thing to do. Sure, many fans (and writers) are "wannabe tough guys" but the NFL is a professional league; it charges a high admission price and part of the entertainment is to live vicariously through the fortunes of the team.

Re: "black guy using the term boy": yeah, it was rude, but slurs have a context; "boy" was not a slur that black men have used against white men for hundreds of years. There is really no symmetry here.

But yeah, the player screwed up here (no fans means no paycheck) and will probably be disciplined.

Its about damn time!! I get sick of listening to these know-it-all "reporters" asking stupid questions just to get a rise out of players. Then when they do, everybody slams them for it... Take yesterday for example, when a reporter asked Mike Vick "How does it feel to be 1-3?".. Really?? What kind of jack ass question is that? It was ment to get a rise out of him so all the "experts" could slam him.. Now im not a fan of Vick or the Eagles, but enough is enough.. Your job is to report the news, not insert your half wit opinion , so do your damn jobs and stop trying to start a sh*tstorm.. anyways thats just my half wit opinion..
