We wrote last week about how the Jets have gone away from their run first philosophy.
Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com writes that Ryan was “furious” in Monday’s team meeting and promised the team they would return to a “ground and pound” approach.
The great philosopher Mike Tyson once said that everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth. The Jets were cold cocked last night and want to go back to basics.
“We have to be able to run the football better. We built this team to be able to run the football,” Ryan said at his press conference.
Asked if they will change personnel, Ryan was resolute: “How about we give Shonn Green a chance?”
Ryan also stressed the need to protect Mark Sanchez, saying the quarterback wouldn’t last the season if they keep letting him get hit. No matter what the approach is, it’s clear the Jets will be fired up for Sunday’s game in Foxborough.
“This is huge. This is the team we have to beat. No offense to Buffalo,” Ryan said.
