The horrible play call is almost our of necessity, since the Eagles offensive line lacks the size and the talent to simply punch it in from the one.

In another play deep in the red zone, the Eagles called some crazy Vick roll-out, then passed the ball completely across the other side of the field instead of just executing basic goal line football.

This kid Brown is going to be the “what was he thinking” highlight of the week, but the Eagles have a deeper problems than one player making a bad decision.

On the defensive side of the ball, they have completely ignored the linebacker position and inexplicably put their marquee additions in the secondary in schemes that don’t utilize their strengths.

Buffalo coming off a loss, could very well light up the Eagles next week, especially if Trent Cole is out.

Philly should still win a lot games this year. They’ve got too much talent on d-line and at the skill positions not to contend for a play-off place. The o-line and linebacking corps are even worse than expected but this team will have a chance to win every game they play, if Vick and McCoy stay healthy. McCoy’s got a chance, Vick looks less likely.

The real disappointment is the secondary. it hasn’t been truly bad, but that CB-trio hasn’t lived up to their billing. Asomugha certainly hasn’t looked like a genuine contender for being the best corner in the league . He has been beaten by back-ups on number of occasions.
