Eric Foster to have surgery on dislocated ankle

Indianapolis Colts Foster yells encouragement to his teammates after suffering severe leg injury during their NFL football game against Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa Reuters

Colts defensive tackle Eric Foster did not travel with his teammates back to Indianapolis early Tuesday morning.

The fourth-year player will undergo surgery on a dislocated right ankle after suffering a gruesome-looking injury on Monday night.

“Eric is resting comfortably at Tampa hospital,n good spirits,he’ll b home 2Indy n a couple days,” Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted.

The Colts have announced anything officially yet, but we wouldn’t expect to see Foster play again this year. The team was already thin at defensive tackle.  Promising rookie Drake Nevis, who was banged up against the Bucs, figures to play a bigger role.

This was a terrible looking injury. I didn’t watch the replay and I’m glad I didn’t. I did see the way his ankle was twisted after the play so I can only imagine what the actual injury looked like as it was happening.

    Get well fast, Big Guy.

Since quoting tweets is the new thing for news, can the editors maybe clean them up so that we don’t raise a country of illiterates?

Call me old school but ” [H]e’ll b[e] home [to] Ind[ianapolis] [i]n a couple of days” reads a lot easier.

The brackets don’t exactly read any easier. I feel like I’m making picks in a March Madness pool. I do get the idea though and generally agree, maybe referencing a tweet rather than a direct quote (and also providing a link to the tweet) would read best.

Also, hoping for a speedy recovery for Foster. You don’t need to go to med school to tell that was an excurciatingly painful & serious injury immediately. Despite that pain, he still tried to fire up his teammates as he was carted off.

bottom line they have to get rid of caldwell he is the worst coach. the colts had 2 many missed tackles in the game. and why are the lb’s dropping back 15 on pass plays and leaving the middle of the field wide open.

The people thumbing these comments down are likely the same kinds of pantywaists who cry over a hangnail.

Everyone in the Rutgers community is pulling for Eric, heart and soul of the team when he was on the Banks. It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Rutgers players, Britt, Brackett and now Foster all going down for the season.

Hard to believe that wasn’t a compound fracture from the way it looked! I think he’s lucky it’s just a dislocation.

Good luck for a speedy recovery!
