I’m a Fla. gal who’s been a loyal Steeler diehard for 34 years since I was a kid. And I popped from the womb into a Bama family, so I don’t care about the fortunes or misfortunes of Pitt. ROLL TIDE!! The only roundball I follow is Little League. You can keep up that Pirates schtick if you want, but this is a football site, and to a lot of us, it just seems silly.

I was dead-set against bringing in Flozell last season. To me, he was the Big Tripper. But he did well enough to be chosen team MVP. And we made it to the Super Bowl with that line. At this point, I’m desperate. If I thought we could find some young, strong, fast, savvy o-lineman out there we could pick up instead of Flo, I’d take him. But there’s not, and I don’t think Max alone will be enough.

That about says it all. I didn’t realize that they were in that kind of cap issue.

Bottom line – it just ain’t gonna be a good year for the Steelers. Reality sucks, but it is reality. Most important thing is to make their next draft count. I looked at their 2010 draft and it was horrible except for Pouncey and possibly Sanders. Only getting 1.5 players in a full draft just won’t cut it in the long term.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not shoveling dirt on their graves. The season has a long way to go. Who knows, if Flacco got a major injury the Ravens are finished, jut like the Colts have found out. But anyone that watches the AFCN knows that the Steelers just aren’t the same team this year.

One step at a time. When a guy has a severed artery and a broken leg, you deal with the artery first. Thank heavens the team finally seems to have noticed the dude is hemorrhaging to death and started trying to apply a tourniquet. If we can keep the offense from continually going three and out, that’s certainly one way to help the defense.

Beyond that, we need to start by rethinking our run defense–and it’s obviously more complicated than age and post-Super Bowl blahs. Harrison, at 33, was having a good year while Woodley (26) and Timmons (25) have barely made a peep. That’s not an age issue. And if the drubbing by Baltimore didn’t snap them out of their Super Bowl stupor, nothing will. Perhaps the changes resulting from Harrison’s injury will force people to step up. Or maybe LeBeau needs to shake up the defensive play-calling.

Will you OL guys PLEASE give Ben another second or 2 to make a play for crying out loud? Have some pride in yourselves!
