Hi, welcome to 2011. NFL teams have global fan bases. We're not all sitting in some pub in Pittsburgh rooting for the home teams. I'm a Fla. gal who's been a loyal Steeler diehard for 34 years since I was a kid. And I popped from the womb into a Bama family, so I don't care about the fortunes or misfortunes of Pitt. ROLL TIDE!! The only roundball I follow is Little League. You can keep up that Pirates schtick if you want, but this is a football site, and to a lot of us, it just seems silly.

So you're saying you think that not only can't any of the Pittsburgh Pirates play baseball worth a damn but that they are all too ugly looking for you to be interested in them?

That's bad... poor guys can't play ball worth a lick and on top of that they are such losers they don't even have their looks to fall back on.

Sad, very sad...

Quite simple Deb.

You have a rapist as a QB and a fan base that has absolutely no life to the extent they make excuses for said rapist, cheap shot Harrison, etc.

Understand now or are you slow like most of the city?

-----------------
No life?? Hey now excusing rapists and cheap shotters keeps me pretty busy.
As opposed to your life which brings you to the internet at midnight to get the last word in on a dead thread. Painful trolling, dmobey.

I was dead-set against bringing in Flozell last season. To me, he was the Big Tripper. But he did well enough to be chosen team MVP. And we made it to the Super Bowl with that line. At this point, I'm desperate. If I thought we could find some young, strong, fast, savvy o-lineman out there we could pick up instead of Flo, I'd take him. But there's not, and I don't think Max alone will be enough.

I don't get the fascination w/FAdams. He's 36 and held on the last couple of years(literally he's been near the top of the league in holding and false starts penalties the last 2 yrs). What's next, coaxing Faneca out of retirement? Might be better than what they have, but they might be better served signing a couple of guys off practice squads and coaching them up. For example Ted Larson was signed by Tampa off NE practice squad and started the rest of the yr for a pretty good team.

Cap Charge for 2011, not actual $ of contracts: 8 linebackers = $26,980,803 and 9 linemen(not counting Starks) = $18,307,980. This is all you need to know.

That about says it all. I didn't realize that they were in that kind of cap issue.

Bottom line - it just ain't gonna be a good year for the Steelers. Reality sucks, but it is reality. Most important thing is to make their next draft count. I looked at their 2010 draft and it was horrible except for Pouncey and possibly Sanders. Only getting 1.5 players in a full draft just won't cut it in the long term.

Don't get me wrong. I am not shoveling dirt on their graves. The season has a long way to go. Who knows, if Flacco got a major injury the Ravens are finished, jut like the Colts have found out. But anyone that watches the AFCN knows that the Steelers just aren't the same team this year.

If you two fools will look around, you’ll see the Steelers fans are here intelligently discussing our team’s issues. The big question is why you’re so obsessed with Pittsburgh that one of you has made the Steelers his identity? My, how flattering! I guess no matter what is happening with Pittsburgh, it’s still more interesting than whatever is going on with your teams and you just can’t stay away.

Horrendous trolling like "quittsburghstoolers" makes me long for the days of RebaT and steeler-hater.

You must be a fan of a team that the Steelers always dominate. A team that does not have a very good front office and very few winning seasons.

That could be jealousy!

Bet no one picks up Chris Scott, just like no one picked up Starks or Essex either. I guess it’s better to have over $100 million (forgot the word the first time) in linebackers than in the O-line whose protecting your franchise QB. How’s that working out for ya?

Cap Charge for 2011, not actual $ of contracts: 8 linebackers = $26,980,803 and 9 linemen(not counting Starks) = $18,307,980. This is all you need to know.

Starks is better than Scott, not saying much, but a message to Steeler nation, and Steeler haters, We will be jus fine. Remember the team that beat Pittsburgh last year in the Super Bowl, (Packers) thats right the same problems, they also started slow last year, and look where they ended up. Steeler Nation take a deep breath and relax, your embarssing the rest of us with your gloom and doom. Steeler haters, if hating on a max starks post is the greatest thing you have to do in a day, get a life.

bullybirds says:

And this helps the defenses mishaps how?

-------------------------------------------------
One step at a time. When a guy has a severed artery and a broken leg, you deal with the artery first. Thank heavens the team finally seems to have noticed the dude is hemorrhaging to death and started trying to apply a tourniquet. If we can keep the offense from continually going three and out, that's certainly one way to help the defense.

Beyond that, we need to start by rethinking our run defense--and it's obviously more complicated than age and post-Super Bowl blahs. Harrison, at 33, was having a good year while Woodley (26) and Timmons (25) have barely made a peep. That's not an age issue. And if the drubbing by Baltimore didn't snap them out of their Super Bowl stupor, nothing will. Perhaps the changes resulting from Harrison's injury will force people to step up. Or maybe LeBeau needs to shake up the defensive play-calling.

Happy the Steelers organization did something to shore up this very weak and injury-decimated area. At least Max knows the system. It is reported he has lost most of the weight he gained after his last injury. If he has a brain in his head and any talent left at all (and I used to think he had some), he will take full advantage of this opportunity to attempt to salvage what might be left of his career and continue to make some money. If he doesn't he will probably be gone as soon as the other walking wounded heel up. But for some reason, I can't see him being worse that Scott or Gilbert.

Will you OL guys PLEASE give Ben another second or 2 to make a play for crying out loud? Have some pride in yourselves!
