Really?! Come on man, the VERY NEXT PICK IN THE DRAFT was Jon Beason… and if you want to keep it in the Safety position, Eric Weddle was 13 picks after him, and the argument can be made that Weddle is by far better than Sucky McHeadhunter.

Not that he was a great selection but you have to pick someone. How bout you show me a better 1st round draft record over the last 11 years. Surely, your GURU must have done better.

Yet you guys conveniently overlook that BB (the supposed draft guru…hint, he really isn’t) was the one that drafted him in the first place. POOR draft evaluation if he ended up cutting him after only a short time in a Pats uniform. Keep those blinders on though, loser Pats fans.

Typical Pats fan comments here. They defend the guy as long as he is a Pat, then bash him once he is gone. So lame.

Watched that game and saw him head to head one guy, and later a guy was being tackled on the sideline and he came in late trying to take the guys head off, but the guy ducked and he mashed his own teammate. Don’t like either team, but I knew Roger would be sending him a love letter.

I think there was more than one incident. But the one that the refs missed badly was the hit on Steve Smith after a long reception. Looked like a sure concussion, but Smith bounced back up and started flexing. It’s a good thing Meriweather didn’t do this to Smith a few years ago. Smith would have pounded his ass.

The NFL is totally going about this the wrong way. Stop only fining the players because it really has zero effect. If you want to change things then start fining the people that actually care about reputation and bank accounts and that would be the coaches and owners. They also should be held responsible for the conduct of their players on the field. Start fining the head coach, the position coach and the owner the same fine as the player and I promise you that things will start to change.

Are we to draw some sort of inference from the fine for the same offense as a Bear now decreasing to half of the appealed/adjusted amount from the first one as a Patriot last season? I supposed these things tended to escalate as a particular offender would accumulate them?

That the fine assessment here was half of the initial adjusted amount for the first offense (would these things possibly accumulate per season and/or per player or not?) seems to imply both a seasonal reset/readjustment of fine level AND that an appeal should probably be inferred as useless … but the sheer plethora of mind-boggling inconsistencies abounds!

He is no loss for the Pats, James Sanders was though.
