Vikings keep sellout streak alive

Minnesota Vikings v Kansas City Chiefs Getty Images

The Vikings haven’t had a blackout for a home game since 1997.  They will keep that streak alive this week, after selling the required amount of tickets for Sunday’s Cardinals-Vikings battle royale.

There was a time not so long ago that a Donovan McNabbKevin Kolb matchup would have felt like a big deal.  That time has passed.

Minnesota is favored Sunday despite being 0-4.  The Cardinals have lost three straight games in excruciating fashion, while the Vikings have found a way to lose four straight close games.

Wow, who would have thought so many Cardinal fans would be willing to travel that far to watch their team play.

I mean, what other explanation could there be for the Vikes selling that game out, considering how awful they are playing this year?

  2. stixzidinia says: Oct 6, 2011 11:21 AM

You mean once again local companies had to buy up blocks of tickets to avoid the blackout.

Hats off to Vikings fans, that’s truly impressive.

The San Diego pussifiers field their annual Super Bowl contender, and can’t sell out.

It’s going to rain Sunday, so I guess I’ll watch. Maybe McNabb will suffer a minor injury and Ponder will come in.

    Sad.

They are paying to see the “farewell tour”. It just went too far when they asked for ($.001 tax) for a new stadium.
Next year the Vikings will be the North Mexico Sombrero’s…and no one in MN will care.

McNabb blows, he throws off the wrong foot all the timr now and his arm is not as strong as it once was. He is a broken down piece of crap, he is done, can’t win ever again with him. Blow him up….

Vikings fans & supports again showing we have the best fans in the NFL and every game for last 13 years have been sold out. Loyal & never waivering we are. Did anyone’s local corporate advertising have anything to do with it for tv purposes? im sure there will b lots of empty seats again, but what u expect in crappy econcomy & team is o-4, some teams STIL cannot sell out with winning records.

  14. dbellina says: Oct 6, 2011 12:11 PM

One has nothing to do with the other. Kinda like the NFLs stance on drug abuse has nothing to do with the decisions Jolley made with throwing away his life.

It’s a homecoming for Larry Fitzgerald. A lot of people in Minnesota love him despite him playing for an opposing team. If the Vikings were 0-4 getting blown out then the game would be blacked out. They’ve been so close each week

We cannot expect much from the Vikings until they upgrade the O line, it is the genesis of all of their problems. McNabbs many issues are magnified by the pressure he is getting. 8-9 in the box and we still cannot threaten downfield. I feel for Peterson, I mean he gets hammered behind and at the line of scrimmage and he is still one of the best rb’s in the league. What he could do if he had a line. And our defense is worn out by the second half too many three and outs by the offense. PS. The coaching staff has to learn to adjust at half.

    —————————————
That could be the most asinine statement i have ever read on any blog. You think the only reason the packers are in green bay is because the nfl gave them an exemption. You redefine dense. Lets start with a waiting list for tickets that is larger than most teams attendance! I leave it at that and let other dense NFL fans chime in…

  33. ih8gbpackers says: Oct 6, 2011 2:31 PM

Green Bay is lucky to even have a team. If it wasn’t for the public ownership, that team would have left Green Bay years ago. When they only thing they teach you in Green Bay is to produce toilet paper and purchase football tickets, it is not hard to sell out consecutive games.

clearly a sign of the times and/or teams with others having issues as well, but im sure the Vikings are the most established team right now in this situation

  43. pack13queens0 says: Oct 6, 2011 8:17 PM

Looks like those $4 tickets actually sold. So many Queens fans complain about ticket prices but they’re actually the lowest prices in the NFL. If those cheapskates don’t buy tickets they don’t deserve to see their team on TV. Me and another Packer fan buddy got lower level tickets for $35 each for the game against the Packers in 2 weeks. Can’t wait to be there in all my Green & Gold & hoping a few other Packer fans will join in a chant of “L A Vikings”!

Youre still on here with that name? Not going to change it after I gave you the facts? Rewriting history again huh Packer fan. I will spell it out for you again. Vikings have 1 NFL championship (1969). Its in the books. If youre going to list all packer championships then put the Vikings one on their as well. Otherwise, list SB wins. You choose.

  45. bobnelsonjr says: Oct 7, 2011 12:06 PM

    Mr. Rosenthal

Please correct the headline. Avoidance of a blackout does not indicate there is a sellout.

Plenty of tickets are available. On Stub Hub there are upperdeck seats going for $4.00 according to the Minneapolis Tribune.

Verizon and Fox have spent heavily subsidizing sales.

Corporations not people are buying tickets, so many seats will be empty.

  46. vikesfansteve says: Oct 7, 2011 9:07 PM

The Vikings just might win the next 10 in a row.
