@nekelund
"The Seattle Seahawks do not have the necessary pass protection, run blocking or defence to ensure continued offensive success."

The Seahawks are fielding the youngest line in the NFL. Two rookies, a second year LT, a third-year C that was injured his entire second year, and Robert Gallery. The lockout hurt these guys just as it hurt other teams, probably more, because they had no time to gel and learn to play together. It's all been on the fly.

The defenSe is stout against the run but not as much against the pass. FS Earl Thomas is a star in the making. SS Kam Chancellor is looking good as well. The corners are an issue that will likely be looked at next offseason. Marcus Trufant's exorbitant contract has been cut down to something more worthy of his play.

"Rice will come back down to Earth as soon as he faces some quality coverage and T-Jack’s overall mediocrity will continue."

I doubt you'll find many T-Jack supporters in Seattle. He is well known to be a less-than-mediocre game manager and no one is arguing that point. However, because Seattle hit the UDFA lottery with slot guy Doug Baldwin, routes will continue to open up for Rice, provided PP is more than adequate for TJ to (slowly, oh so slowly) make his reads.

"The Hawks will miss the playoffs and the grossly overrated, undertalented Pete Carroll will hopefully get canned like most every other college coach who thinks that he can jump straight into the NFL"

Yawn. The Seahawks are in obvious full rebuild mode. They shouldn't have been in the playoffs last year, but thanks to three teams in the NFCW being Far Beyond Pathetic, they made it. And knocked off the annoying, swaggering Saints and for a time at least, shut their "fanbase" up. No one expected them to make the playoffs last year. No one expects them to make the playoffs this year. When you have a team that was completely mis-managed and run into the ground as the Seahawks were under Tim (1st Round Bust Magnet) Ruskell, and then completely dismantled and built from the ground up by new (talented) coaches and managers, it's going to take a few years. Seattle has one of the youngest teams in the league. As for your comments that Pete Carroll is overrated and undertalented (and making his first(?) foray into the NFL), that just shows your own idiocy and bias.

Actually it's through four games. The fact he missed two is part of the equation when it comes to evaluating Rice. It's why the Vikings were reluctant to give him a lot of guaranteed money.

Nobody doubted that Sidney Rice had talent. He put up phenomenal numbers in 2009-2010 and was the go-to receiver during the Gunslinger's last decent year.

The question is whether he can stay healthy and put up consistent numbers against quality defences. Burning the Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons defences is hardly world-beating.

The Hawks need to see what they have in Whitehurst.

Whitehurst is an unknown commodity right now, whereas Tarvaris is a known horrible commodity.

And don't even think about pointing to last weeks game. It isn't the first time T-Jack has had a decent game, only to faceplant later on.
