Getty ImagesThe depleted Giants defensive line is about to take another hit.
Howard Balzer of espn101.com in St. Louis reports Kennedy was suspended by the NFL. It’s unclear why he was suspended and we don’t know the length of the suspension yet. Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger confirms the suspension is for “less than a year.”
Kennedy has filled a need as a rotational reserve, making his presence felt a few times.
UPDATE: It’s a four game suspension for violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy.

Jeez… I’m a Giants fan and I think when everything is said and done, they have 6 or 7 wins, a top ten pick and a new coach. Yeah, they could pull a Green Bay with all the injuries, but I’m not putting money on that. Sweep Philly this year, bounce back next year when everyone is healthy again, I’ll be happy.
“Now what”? And i’m really , really curious to know how they find these things out to suspend players before the media and/or anyone else does. Curious to see what’s Kennedy’s side of the story is.
He will appeal, it will take time to resolve, and the Giants will have a fully healthy line before the suspension is actually served.
I wonder what he is suspended for. Given what time of year it is, I’ve got my money on him having TPed Goodell’s house, or perhaps egging Goodell’s home.
Another Giant loser or just anoter giant idiot.
NFL for the next four games for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances, without pay… I wonder how long it will be before the Giants cut him.
@pnut87
You’re right on with that comment. Just not our year. Put Tuck on the IR & get him healthy for next year too. I’m tired of the Coughlin/Gilbride regime. Time to bring in Cowher & revamp this roster with some more young talent. Coughlin’s been great for many years, but he’s gotta go!
@tatum064
Are you saying you’re curious to find out how the LEAGUE finds out about things before the media? I hope there’s not someone that stupid in the world.
Too bad. He was a disappointment in his first few years but filled in with nice play w/ the Vikings & handled himself with dignity & thanked the organization when they let him go.
I guess thats all she wrote, for the “Jimmy Kennedy Experiment”
This begs the question: Did he take notes from the Williams sisters when in Minnesota???
Who is he and what does he do ?
So not the best defensive tackle in the NFL? Plus he was 4th on the chart.
i see why the vikings didn’t resign him
Another idiot shortening his life span and his pro football playing days at the same time.
I swear if another so-called Giants fan clamors for Cowher… overrated as he already was and six years removed from the game — I’m gonna go DC sniper. It’s been getting on my nerves for two years now.

Thanks, I enjoyed that.
Folks in STL can answer those questions.
First round bust and unless subbing on an elite DL, not much.
Good move by the Vikings to let go of the Jimmy Kennedy Xperiment.
Why doesn’t the league suspend Pat Hanlon too? Sick of that guy coming on here and making his ghost-posts.
As far as Kennedy is concerned, it’s not like this guy was splitting clits and getting to the QB 5 times a game. Stick another warm body in the rotation and get it done.
Well well well, the Giants* CHEAT too?
@pnut87
Cowher is no way better Coughlin… There are other better coaches out there, but Cowcrap no way. if so show me so facts.
Hmmmm, maybe that’s why the Vikings cut him.
Brief History Lesson: The St. Louis Rams drafted Kennedy 12th overall in the 2003 draft. He only played 3 seasons for St. Louis before they traded him to Denver for a 6th rounder. The Rams took Kennedy ahead of a few nobodys like: Troy Polamalu, Dallas Clark, and Nnamdi Asomugha.
^ nick barnett and Jason Witten (i think witten was still there).
