Checking out another Tryout Tuesday

Lousaka Polite AP

Every Tuesday, NFL teams bring in free-agents for tryouts.  Some get jobs, most don’t.

Here’s the list of players who received the once-over on Tuesday.  It’s shorter than usual.

Bills:  receiver Tim Toone.

Jaguars:  punters Josh Bidwell, Nick Harris, Jeremy Kapinos, and Spencer Lanning.  (Harris was signed.)

Vikings:  guard Garrett Chisolm and tackle Ryan Harris.

Giants:  defensive back Chinedum Ndukwe and guard Jason Shirley.

Jets:  running back Lousaka Polite (pictured).

Eagles:  defensive back Tom Nelson.

49ers:  receivers Chris Chambers, Brian Finneran, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, and Brett Swain.  (Swain was signed.)

    Raiders: linebacker Aaron Curry

Jets: running back Lousaka Polite. Career: 3.1 yards/carry. He doesn’t fumble much though.

49ers: They picked Swain. There was a post here about it.

Polite is one of the best fullbacks in pro football. How in the world does he not have a job?

    What, Al Toon wasn’t available?

I hope nobody signs Tim Toone, and he stays on the Lion’s practice squad. Mr. irrelevant.

No Tiki?….and you already posted about Swain.

  7. ezra954 says: Oct 12, 2011 9:05 PM

Lol I hope the jets is that how they get plays from old players thats as week as a coach tripping players of wait they do that also

  8. 21stnprime says: Oct 12, 2011 9:15 PM

Jets brought in Polite to get an idea of what Miami is doing on offense. The funny part is that Miami don’t even know what they’re doing on offense to begin with

Why hasn’t anybody signed Lofa Tatupu? God knows philly needs him…

  11. youboettcha says: Oct 12, 2011 9:37 PM

    1. Curry was traded
    2. Polite is a fullback

  12. kalispellmt says: Oct 12, 2011 9:42 PM

Good thing DahBears didn’t try anyone out, ’cause really, where would you start?

  13. pudgalvin says: Oct 12, 2011 9:43 PM

And of course the Bears don’t even consider that there might be someone better than Frank Omiyale out there.

    Onward and upward Bears!!!

Polite is $$$ on 3rd/4th down and 1-2 yards. He got stopped once in the last two years in Miami.

    Perhaps he’s just too Polite?

What’s with the Giants bringing in Bengal cast-offs?

  17. basexc9 says: Oct 12, 2011 11:36 PM

Polite absolutely sucked most of last year with the fins. He couldn’t block or pick up blitzes. When the fish picked up Bush and drafted Clay (hybrid FB/TE) they had no need for a true Fullback anymore.

    That’s what she said.

  19. stevenfbrackett says: Oct 12, 2011 11:58 PM

That is two teams in a week to turn down Houshmandzadeh. Ouch. That’s gotta smart.

  20. wadecounty93 says: Oct 13, 2011 12:35 AM

Polite is BEAST i was surprised when he got let go, he will be an upgrade for alot of different teams, wish him luck!

Tim Toone was cut by the Lions a few weeks ago. The Bills signed him yesterday to the Practice Squad. With Young playing so well, I could see it coming. I’m glad Tim gets another chance, though!

I wish there was some sort of minor league system or better quality supplementary league for the NFL. It really bothers me to see guys who were just drafted a year or two ago out of jobs and so many quality players who just fall off the face of the earth because teams aren’t willing to take a chance on them.

  24. travisblink619 says: Oct 13, 2011 1:16 AM

    @talkintrashallday

You got a valid point. About Tatupu, not the Eagles. I’m surprised he didn’t get snatched up the day he was released. Oh wait, it is the Seahawks…pretty to forget about them since they are pretty irrelevant.

  25. duncanthecat says: Oct 13, 2011 6:57 AM

With as much blitzing as the defenses are running, surprised Clinton Portis, has not been picked up; even if just for his protection skills.

Because all of these teams want to throw the football 65% of the time and line up in 4 and 5 WR spread formations.
