alaricsrevenge says:

I heard Sal Pal on Mike Miss yesterday talking about before they made the decision to hire Juan as the DC they were after Rob Ryan… who already had a handshake deal with Jerruah.

-------------------------------------------------
I need meat for the family dinner. Well, they just sold the last Porterhouse steak, so I guess I'll buy ... a can of Alpo dog food???

So what if they couldn't get Rob Ryan? That was no reason to hire an offensive-line coach who hasn't worked with a defense in more than two decades. I'm sure there were other defensive coaches available after Ryan passed.

SERIOUSLY Mangenious is a 3 time loser
1 threw the patriots under the bus

sounds more like a GIANT candidate to me.

Well, he was on a team that won three Super Bowls, so, you're right - no chance he can work with the Eagles. They have never known that level of success and probably never will. Besides, he would never get to work on time. All of Philly would be asking to see his Super Bowl rings since no one in that town has actually seen one before.

westnorthcoast says: The Belichick tree is..well Bill Belicheck. Funny how he has not won a Super Bowl since being caught for cheating.

Funny how some fans think they're being smart by using a 16-0 season, a consistent role atop the AFC East and role as perennial Super Bowl favorites as "proof" that the Patriots can't win without "cheating"

Funny how some fans have been able to convince themselves that coaches and coordinators aren't covering their mouths when calling in plays because other teams are filming playcalling as well

And Funny how some fans actually think that signal stealing and spying hasn't been going on since the 1950s - and continues today as the recent Jets sideline film crew demonstrated (though don't expect Goodell to ask to see what's on that videotape. The Jets get special treatment)

As several have pointed out above, "Why Mangini"? 3-4 guy who refused to recognize that Cleveland had the personnel for the 4-3. The guy who thought old Jets special teams linebackers were better than Kamerion Wimbley. He could not figure a way to use him. Good luck with 5th, 6th, 7th rounders Reid has chosen to make the team.

Was if because the Eagles were going to fire Reid and have a fill in for temporary head coach in place?

Need I remind people Mangini drafted a project player in the second round of the 1999 on a very depleted Browns team. The player was a undersized defense end from Hawaii. He was waived before his second year with zero starts.

And let us not forget Mangini was benched by Belichick for lame defense calls/game plans during a Super Bowl run season. Or simple put, Belichick had to take over the defense when Mangini was the defensive coordinator. No where does anyone point this important fact. Mangini has become a 2x ex head coach and millionaire riding off of coattails.

The Belichick tree is..well Bill Belicheck. Plain and simple. How is his defense playing this year? Check out the 2010 stats as well. Funny how he has not won a Super Bowl since being caught for cheating.

Suggestion #1. Lock your corners into man coverage. Press on the right side with Nnamdi 24/7. Safety over the top of Asante, who is green lighted to choose press or soft coverage.

Suggestion #2. Utilize Wide 9 tecnnique only on 2nd/3rd and long, and in 2:00 defense.

Suggestion #3. Sell your first-born child to bring back Brian Dawkins (assuming he is healthy after neck injury) to instill some leadership to this group. Oh, and to help the run D."

One more thing... Learn and practice running the ball on 3rd and 1!!! an actual run play not some sort of wildcat/pass option!

Wow – they really are acting like the Old Redskins – hire a coordinator before head coach, limit your options so hire coordinator to be head coach, bring in consultant, fire head coach. The Eagles hired their D Line coach before the coordinator, no one wanted the job, gave it to an offensive line coach, hire a consultant….

Bring in the best that money can buy, team implodes.

Meanwhile, Washington has learned their lessons and are building something special through the draft, smart low key free agents and heart. I love it.

Hail to the Redskins.

Mangini has an easy gig on ESPN.......and I think he's pretty good.

Philly is a mess and if he can't work a miracle, he'll share blame for something that already existed. Very little upside for him.

Reid will probably be done too, so there may not even be the ability to come back next year as D-Coordinator.

I'd stay put if I were him.

As bad as it had been this season I don't think skins or niners fans have any room to talk smack. The eagles have 3 bad years in the last 13 an everyone piles on to trash them. Congrats on fast starts to two teams that have been nothin short of terrible over the past ten to fifteen years. If either team wins their division my hat will be off to them and their fans. I have a feeling the eagles will turn it around and play spoiler for the skins and cowboys. and if the niners can't win that division it is pathetic. Fly eagles fly!!!

@jeffro33: If you can get a copy of last week's Eagles game, check it out. They did exactly #1 and #2 from about the 8:00 mark of the 3rd quarter and gave up just 3 points the rest of the game, and the FG was after a turnover. As for #3, A) It would mean the Eagles admitted a mistake, and there's no chance of that B) BDawk is one of my favorite players of all time, but this year he looks like most of the safeties that are already on the Eagles.
