The team’s main problem is apparently Mike’s verbal communication. Maybe the answer is to just replace Andy Reid with Chevy Chase.

Sorry Vick, but as bad as the Eagles are playing, the coaching can’t get any worse. There’s enough blame to go around between players and coaches.

You can put the blame on Reid up to a point, but if it was as simple as merely coming up with a great gameplan and implementing it, then a lot of teams would be great. It’s still a human game. Reid can drill fundamentals into his players until he’s blue in the face, but on the field that only takes you so far. Ronnie Brown lateraling the ball at the goal line isn’t Andy Reid’s fault. It’s simply a weird brain cramp on Brown’s. And Vick throwing four INTs isn’t Reid’s fault either–it’s Vick being Vick. You can coach him up all you want, but he’s always going to be a little wild. Sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. That the whole thing has gone horribly awry is based on a combination of factors, only some of which are under Reid’s control. In the end, it IS a player’s game, and all you can do is put them in the best possible position to succeed. Reid might have screwed up at times this season, but he really can’t throw the ball for Vick or tackle for the defense or any of that. Beyond all that, to say GM Reid screwed up is just weird to me. Nobody was saying that during the offseason when he signed those guys. Nobody was saying the Eagles would get off to a 1-4 start. The team had flaws coming in, but let’s not kid ourselves: It’s still a good team, just one that has made far too many mistakes on the field. #logicoverandout

I disagree completely.

When a team is committing fundamental errors… that is not the coaching staff’s fault. That does go back to the players not maintaining the level of focus that the profession requires.

I would agree that if the pattern continues and the staff does not address the issue, then it is their fault. But you cannot lay short term lack of focus on the coaching staff.

You also have to take into consideration that Vick would be nothing without Reid’s coaching.

What makes you think he’s all that in the first place? For all the crap Romo takes he’s won a playoff game more recently than any other NFCE QB has, including Michael Vick (who won his last playoff game after the 2004 season).

Sorry Mike, I know you are loyal to the man who help you back from the brink. But we have seen the fat mans show all to often. Everyone can see what the team needs but Andy knows best. So when it blows up in his face its always the same old song and dance. Who can forget the years of needing a top WR
but we had Stinkston and Trash. They get a top wide out and they are in the Super Bowl. Years of miss clock management, predictable play calling , Skiers as Punt/Kick returners. Throwing the ball on every down. The fat man has been here 13 years and in that time two of the worst franchises in NFL history have won the super bowl. Big deal he makes the playoffs every year but no ring to show for it. Its time to go!! Oh and offensives line couches as Defense coordinators.

Truth is that the Eagles could still sneak into the playoffs if they get the ship righted next Sunday. NFC East isn’t exactly loaded with powerhouse teams (despite the Shannyskins record, you’ve got Beck backing up Grossman). The Giants are a mess and Dallas is schizo.

Oh please, blame him for his mistake with castillo, sure, but fumbling? Interceptions? These are veterans here that are making these critical mistakes. The man has done all he can. Maybe he should call some goal line plays better and a little less trickeration but besides that he’s been solid and as good as ever. If he’s gonna get fired, then so be it. It’ll be the stupidest mistake we’ve made ever but OK. Because Andy is who he is and isn’t going to change. He has the formula for a championship, it just hasn’t happened yet. Ask Bill Cowher, sometimes it takes awhile.

I agree with Vick. Reid isn’t out there turning the ball over. He picks and prepares the players, but nobody was calling the Eagles underskilled before the season started. No one mentions that due to the lockout Reid’s time to condition his guys was cut short. Everyone saw their problems on the front lines dating back to last season. Most of us were still picking the Eagles to take the division because of their skill at the glamorou positions. Still its an early season, and if the players don’t lose at least two games for the coaches by turning the ball over their 3-2 at least. Wrong. At the professional level, do you really need to be coached on hanging on to the football? Really? Is that not taught in high school? You’re paid millions of dollars to hold on to a ball. You want to hold a special practice session on how to hold on to a mfing football? Would you also like to dedicate a whole day towards not jumping offsides when the whole world knows they’re trying to draw you off? Really? You want Reid to walk on the field with them and hold their hands?

As bad as the Eagles have been and continue to be, there’s no way that they’ll lose out the rest of the way (therefore securing the top draft pick). They’ve been competitive in every game and had a chance to win all of them as late as the 4th quarter. One of these days (hopefully soon) they’ll manage to secure a win. At this stage of the game, I think an 8-8 record would at least salvage some kind of dignity for the team. I don’t think that’s out of the question.

Would they use that pick to gain an unbelievable amount of draft picks from the most needy team? They must value Vick because $100 million is no chump change…
