Smith and Newton are getting the numbers by throwing down field. Any QB can dink and dunk five yard passes. NO CREDIT FROM ME

Mr September, what is that even supposed to mean?

So is the offense easy, or is it because Brady and Welker excel at their job....cant be both. I guess when Brady threw 20 bombs to Moss in 2007 that was all dink and dunk too right?

I love this argument. They lead the league in scoring with that offense. If its SO EASY then why dont all the teams do it?

Easy..Because they don't have Wes Welker to make all those catches. He gets open and then holds onto the ball. Without Wes Welker, Brady wouldn't be Mr. September and October.

Yah well i’m not talking about success rate. I’m talking about it’s easier to accumulate those numbers with that offense. I’m not taking away from how good Welker is, he’s the ultimate slot reciever. But he’s just that. Newton and Smith are putting up their numbers throwing the deep ball, not by acquiring YAC.

You're a moron, dude. Welker has played 40% of his snaps as an outside receiver this year, and he's averaging 16.4 yards per catch. He isn't just the "ultimate slot receiver," he's become one of the most complete receivers in the league.

.

@slammincamnewton

Your team is 1-4 with its only victory being a 6 point home victory over Jacksonville. I guess that was your super bowl.

Most patriot fans are used to looking at the scoreboard, not running logarithms on YAC Welker v Hernandez. That's Belichick's job.

Good organizations are about wins and losses. The others feed off personal stats.

It may or may not be easier, but that's how the Pats offense works, especially when they don't even really have a receiver that is known to stretch the field and catch the deep ball. Brady gets points by spreading the ball around and completing short, accurate passes. Hey, it works. Better than that of Carolina might I add.

Should have asked Brady who can take the credit for Wes's record breaking year. So that Brady can give credit to where it is due - to Welker.

The Ravens have played Brady and Welker. Of the two, I would prefer that Welker was missing instead of Brady. Lots of QBs can throw an accurate short pass to the guy that they know will be open. Not many WRs can get open and so reliably hold onto the ball like Welker.

===================================
% of deep passes (15+ yards):
Newton: 28.4 (3rd overall)
Brady: 25.0 (6th overall)

You’ll give up a better success rate, completion rate, and AYPA for a +3.4% to the deep ball? Did you just start following football?

--------------------------------------------

Yah well i'm not talking about success rate. I'm talking about it's easier to accumulate those numbers with that offense. I'm not taking away from how good Welker is, he's the ultimate slot reciever. But he's just that. Newton and Smith are putting up their numbers throwing the deep ball, not by acquiring YAC.

badtimeoutcaldwell - on additional point on their OL is this - they do a great job of scouting talent. Outside of Solder, all the other guys are late 1st (Mankins) or lower guys. Scarnecchia is one of the best in the business (that said, they still have an issue inside at guard, and could use someone to groom behind Koppen).

You see so many teams spending high first picks on tackle talent, but they have Light and Vollmer, two 2nd rounders (and Vollmer was a mild surprise that year). They know what they want out of their OL talent, physical guys, with a no-nonsense approach, willing to learn and work on technique.

Through the Patriots run, their OL has always been somewhat undervalued and somewhat blamed whenever they have issues, but considering the resources they spent on it (relatively minimal compared to other orgs as it relates to picks), it's been a job well-done.

**********************************************

I guess that tying the NFL record for longest pass in history at 99 yards in considered "dink and dunk".

Welker is the real deal and will go deep, run a slant, 15 yard curl, or anything else that is required to win.

I know this and so does everyone else who has a freaking brain.

@Rc33

Arguably one of the more ignorant things I have ever read on this site. Brady has had a revolving door of offensive players at his side each year, yet he still finds a way to put up eye popping numbers.

Did Bill or a kicker or his line really make all those clutch throws to put them in position to win all those SBs, or any of the 50 TDs he chucked while setting records?

Maybe you could put it on Bill for fielding such a miserable defense that will probably lead him to breaking Marino's record.

It's like saying take Rice away from Montana and he would be nothing, statements like these are among some of the least thought out ever.
