Julius Peppers listed as doubtful

Julius Peppers missed practice all week with a sprained MCL he suffered against the Lions on Monday night and now it sounds like he’ll miss Sunday night’s game with the Vikings as well.

Peppers is listed as doubtful on the Bears’ injury report, leaving him with a 25 percent chance of getting on the field for the NFC North matchup. Peppers hasn’t missed a game since 2007.

“We downgraded Julius Peppers to doubtful … he wasn’t able to do anything today,” Lovie Smith said following practice. “We are still hopeful, (but) when a guy doesn’t practice at all during the week we’re not too optimistic, but we’ll see.”

Nick Reed would get the start if Peppers can’t make it, a serious blow to a Bears defense that’s already struggling. The team will be breaking in two new safeties with Major Wright and Chris Conte replacing Brandon Meriweather and Chris Harris in the starting lineup, so there are definitely better weeks to be without the best player on their defensive line.

  1. Lovie playing possum. Peppers will play and you’ll know it when he’s not on the inactive list before the game.

  2. Bears fans talking all offseason about peppers hurting Stafford AGAIN should prolly leave injury talk out of the convo for now on. NO, Peppers hit on Stafford was NOT dirty so I held no resentment toward him, but it would seem karma is biting bears fans in the rear and it’s unfortunate for Peppers. BUT, rooting for someone to get hurt, what do ya expect from a care bear fan?

If you think that fans bantering back and forth has ANYTHING to do with which players get hurt and when, then you are an idiot.

Karma isn’t a real thing, unlike the Madden Curse, which is serious business.

Do you believe that if you repeat this over and over again then it will become the truth?

  6. Carson Palmer is a TEAMSTER the man is holding out for his beliefs ! He is the real deal, not like the rest of the NFLPA frauds !

  7. As a Vikings fan, I’m still have flashbacks to Peppers bulldozing over Bryant McKinnie. It’s good news for the Vikes if there is no Peppers or Mckinnie in the matchup this year.

Pretty sure that has nothing to do with karma from the fans. I seen plenty of Lions fans (and probably other non-Bears fans) on this site say that Suh was going to kill Cutler and they would have take him off the field on a stretcher. Cutler not injured (somehow) and Suh not injured. No karma.

  9. I miss Peppers in a Panthers uniform….. He still is one of my favorite players, love watching that guy make plays, wish he was still in Carolina……….

    Panthers 34 Falcons 24…………

    Cam the Man Newton…
    Steve the Mighty Mouse Smith…
    D the Kill Will…………..
    Germ Warfare Shockey……
    Greg the keg Olsen…….
Legadu the man with the F’ed up name Nannee…

LOL, if you dont give me thumbs up, put that thumb in your arse……..LOL

  10. I’m not gonna lie, it would be kind of nice to see Peppers have to miss the rest of the season after he injured Stafford for the season last year. And I love the irony that he got injured against those same Lions….hehe
