Seahawks claim rookie Allen Bradford off waivers from Bucs

John Boyle of the Everett Herald reports that the Seahawks have claimed running back Allen Bradford off waivers from the Buccaneers.

Bradford, a sixth-round pick in April’s draft, is a 5-foot-11, 242-pound power back prospect from USC. He was recruited by and played for Seahawks coach Pete Carroll with the Trojans.

Bradford spent the first five weeks of the season on Tampa Bay’s 53-man roster, seeing action in Week Five after LeGarrette Blount’s knee injury. The rookie gained 13 yards on five carries.

In Seattle, Bradford figures to be fourth on the tailback depth chart behind Marshawn Lynch, Justin Forsett, and Leon Washington.

From what I’ve seen Bradford has a mean stiff arm and can break tackles all day long. Looks like a good prospect. Looking forward to seeing what he can do for the Seahawks.

According to his 40 time he’s faster than Blount. I wouldn’t wanna be the person trying to tackle him.

Why would the Bucs wait until Blount is injured and then cut him? Weird.

Geez…Someone tell Coach Carroll that he’s not playing his games at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum anymore!

The Bucs should have kept him . He might just have been the “next man up”.

Has anyone been impressed by Forsett at all lately? I haven’t. With Leon taking on more weight at RB this season Forsett was already somewhat redundant. Throw in Lynch’s new tendency to dance behind the line of scrimmage rather than hit the hole hard and Bradford makes sense. Forsett better watch his back.
