When it comes to “must” win games for the Eagles, the third time was a charm.
Up 20-3 at the half, Philly held on for a 20-13 win over the Redskins.
Though the Eagles go the victory, they were sluggish in the second half, allowing the Redskins to hang around almost long enough to steal the game.
After Rex Grossman threw eight completions and half as many picks on 22 attempts, John Beck entered the game, completing eight of 15 passes for 117 yards. Beck also scored the only touchdown of the second half, running the ball in from the two.
After the Redskins scored that touchdown to narrow the gap to seven, the Eagles converted a pair of first downs, allowing them to run out the clock and secure the win.
For the Eagles, LeSean McCoy churned up 126 yards on 28 carries, with a touchdown.
The Eagles are now in the thick (kind of) of the NFC East chase, with the Redskins at 3-2, the Giants at 4-2, an the Eagles at 2-4. The Cowboys could be 2-3 by the end of the evening.
