Jason Campbell has broken collarbone

Browns Raiders Football AP

The Raiders haven’t missed Jason Campbell much against the Browns, but they’d still like to have their starting quarterback as soon as possible.

It doesn’t sound like they are going to get him back any time soon, however. Word out of Oakland, via Mike Florio of PFT, is that Campbell suffered a broken collarbone in the first half against the Browns. If true, he’ll miss the rest of the season. The Raiders haven’t confirmed the report.

Either way, it looks like Kyle Boller and/or Terrelle Pryor (or, after his 35-yard touchdown pass on a fake field goal, Shane Lechler) will be leading the Raiders offense in the weeks to come.

    David Garrard!!

How come is Campbell’s collarbone fracture for the season if Marques Colston’s collarbone fracture was just for four games? How differently can your collarbone be broken? Seems like the answer is: VERY.

  11. socalraidervader says: Oct 16, 2011 7:06 PM

    Sign Jeff George!!!!

  12. 4evrnyt says: Oct 16, 2011 7:07 PM

David Garrard’s ears are probably burning at the moment. Cant help but think he’d be a great fit on this team.

  13. phadedwun says: Oct 16, 2011 7:07 PM

Garrard won’t sign with the Raiders.

The reason he didn’t sign with the Dolphins is because he doesn’t want to be a temporary injury replacement.

Why would that reason change for the Raiders?

He wants a team to commit to him – not to be a one year injury replacement.

This really hurts the Raiders who have been looking good this season though, unless somehow Pryor suddenly becomes the Raiders-version of Mike Vick…

Somehow I don’t see that happening, though.

As a bronco fan this is awful. I know my team isn’t going anywhere this season and I’m sick of the chargers winning the division. Orton for a 7th rounder?? He’d be really motivated to stick it to the broncos.

  16. socalraidervader says: Oct 16, 2011 7:09 PM

There are different grades for fractures, also. Romo’s was a complete fracture and if Campbell’s is also, he will be out for season most likely. As you know, he (Romo) suffered his at this same point last year.

  20. failcopter says: Oct 16, 2011 7:18 PM

I heard collarbones are 4-6 weeks. Might have him back before the end of the season. Best case might be the Bears game.

Marques Colston doesn’t get the ball on every single down and doesn’t have to throw the ball down the field so yes the injuries are very different.

Al Davis told Terrell Pryor to be patient, patient, patient.

    So much for that.

If Cam Newton has done as well as he has, given his collegiate accomplishments, what will Pryor do, given his?

    Never boring in Raiderland.

PS– Hue’s call on 4th and 1 was a little too “living on the edge” for me. That was bordering on cookoo for cocoapuffs.

  27. mpoles says: Oct 16, 2011 7:23 PM

Trent Edwards is out there unsigned and was a late Raiders cut so he knows the playbook. He’s the most likely signing.

  29. zidanevalor says: Oct 16, 2011 7:29 PM

Unfortunately, as a Dallas fan, I speculated right away that it was a broken collarbone. It was the exact same hit that broke Tony Romo’s collarbone: right on his shoulder with his arms pinned at his sides. Once I saw him walking to the locker room holding his arm by his stomach, I “knew” it was the same injury.

Wow, so you’re resorting to outright lies now?

I’ve NEVER been a fan of Campbell, so no way in hell I’d ever compare him to the great Jim Plunkett.

    Doorknob.

those of you that say Orton (Broncos) will possibly be traded to the Raiders are pretty funny. That will probably happen the day the US trades every nuclear warhead in our arsenal to Iran for a few thousand barrells of oil.

See, this is true, but we’re talking Kyle Boller here. Kyle Boller isn’t going to fit into any system or develop a rapport with any team. Better to pick up a player with an ounce of talent to learn on the job than to send Kyle Boller out there to continue being Kyle Boller.

Check of McFadden’s stats against the Chiefs. I have a hard time calling someone who has done that, and leads the league in rushing, overrated.

  42. nomoreseasontix says: Oct 16, 2011 8:14 PM

I don’t know where they go from here. Boller is not the answer.
Campbell has not looked very good the last two games, but I can’t see who they put under center that wouldn’t be a downgrade.
I guess I’ll wait and see.

McClain to Denver for Cutler and a third in 2012?
    Not….

Kyle Boller is the man. He was the greatest quarterback the Ravens ever had. I mean ever.
The guy is a stud. Did you know he can throw a football from the 50 yard line, on he knees, through the uprights on a goal post. Oakland has nothing to worry about with Mr. happy feet.
    He’s the greatest.

  48. djsammmyskillz says: Oct 16, 2011 8:51 PM

  49. nodaclu says: Oct 16, 2011 10:34 PM

Those of you saying the Palmer will be the one coming to Oakland are targeting the wrong Bengals QB.

There’s a backup QB in Cincy that knows the Raiders offense, and proved last season he could win games in that offense. While not a Pro Bowl QB, he’s definitely a step above Kyle Boller, and Andy Dalton’s play has rendered him unnecessary there.

He’ll also come MUCH cheaper than Palmer. his Raider teammates would rally around him, knowing he can win games for them.

Therefore, look for Bruce Gradkowski to make his way back to Oakland this week.

  50. cluelessdufus says: Oct 16, 2011 11:07 PM
