I never said he was going to be 3X the WR that Lloyd ever was... But let us all remember. Lloyd is a WR that was a journey man for 8 years before he finally started producing in the NFL. He's now 31 years old. And Demaryius Thomas has a lot of upside to him, he's taken time to get healthy and now it's time for him to play and show us what he can do.

People forgot about Demaryius Thomas because the guy spends more time in the tub than on the field. Hell, he was even injured when the Broncos drafted him. I think it's funny that someone claims he's 3X the receiver Lloyd is when he's accomplished next to nothing at the NFL level so far.

Why would Denver even bother with this?!

A) It sets Tebow up for failure

B) Wouldn’t they have received a 5th rounder as a compensatory draft pick anyway? (which the Rams will now get, essentially getting Lloyd for free)

Unbelievable, the Broncos essentially gave him away. Someone clue me in, what am I missing here?!”

okay let me ‘splain it to ya. For starters the Rams are going nowhere so the pick will be only a few spots out of the 4th round. Next, he has only had one good year out of 9. Then there the fact that his contract is up in 3 months, then he will want top dollar for the few years he has left. Meanwhile the Broncs have good young talent (Cheaper) on the team and practice squad. Those players can realte to Tebow better than LLoyd and it is clear the Broncs want to get younger. Finally whoever the early 5th round pick is has a good chance of making this team and giving the Broncs 6-8 years of service. To put it another way the Pats have been proving for years that certain players are more valuable on the trading block than they are on field for a dozen games. Such is the case here. It’s as simple as that.

------------------------------
Wow. Thank you for rewording my point, while adding the Brandon Lloyd bio all of us already know. I sure feel "schooled"

So again, instead of using him for the rest of this year to at least attempt to win some games, we let him go for the same draft pick we'd be getting when he leaves at the end of the year? Oh I forgot, THIS pick, MIGHT be a FEW spots higher.

Yeah, definitely seems like a great move. Considering the Broncos WR group and their injury history (looking at you, D. Thomas) they shoulda kept him

<i>"Demaryius Thomas is back. If he stays healthy he will be 3x’s the receiver Lloyd is. So, no the Broncos did not get rid of their #1 WR, he’s just been injured.
"</i>

That's the equivalent of saying, trading Peyton Hillis away for essentially nothing makes sense since they have Knowshon Moreno. How did that work out by the way?

I like this move a lot for the Rams. How often does a 6th round pick turn into a Colston, Brady or Portis? Answer is one in maybe 500 of them. Lloyd will thrive in this offense with Mc D and Sammy. I just hope they can show the organization enough to keep them from cleaning house in the offseason.

Lloyd may not come close to what he did last season ever again, but thinking that he can't put up 1000 yds in this offense is a lapse of judgement.

Hopefully Fox and Elway know what they’re doing.

———————————————–

They know exactly what they are doing… they are setting up their Suck for Luck campaign in full force… and right now St. Louis is ahead of them… why not try to help the Rams win a couple of games so they can move up in the draft order?

Why would Denver even bother with this?!

A) It sets Tebow up for failure

B) Wouldn’t they have received a 5th rounder as a compensatory draft pick anyway? (which the Rams will now get, essentially getting Lloyd for free)

Unbelievable, the Broncos essentially gave him away. Someone clue me in, what am I missing here?!"

okay let me 'splain it to ya. It's as simple as that.

Brandon had a great season lat year. So far this year he and I have the same amount of TDs for the Broncos.

I love how people devalue a draft pick as if it were a breath mint or something. A conditional 5th is pretty valuable when you have holes all over the roster to fill.

This front office is still pickup up the pieces from the Josh McFratboy era. They gave it a go with what was left from his version of an NFL roster and are now blowing it up. I don't blame them.

The Broncos (even with Lloyd) were an average team at best. Now they don't have to overpay a vet WR next year and can get younger with an extra pick.

STL...good luck with all of that.

Now I can pickup Lloyd and start him on my fantasy team.

His stats for 2010 season:
REC-77
YDS-1448
TD's-11

Denver gives up that for a 5th rounder, I wonder what they'll give up for a 4th rounder?

There's truth to the "get something now rather than nothing later" argument, but this is AWFULLY close to nothing.

Interestingly enough, as they conduct this extended audition of Tim Tebow at quarterback, they'll do so with a really thin corps of wideouts. After trading up in the first round to select him, you'd think they'd be interested in seeing if he can actually play. But their line stinks, their running game is still lousy, and now they have nobody of note at WR except for Decker (who'll draw tighter coverage with Lloyd being gone). I've never been a real believer in Tebow, but it's hard to see how they're giving him much of a chance to succeed.
