Ronnie Brown trade voided

AP

On Tuesday, the Eagles announced that running back Ronnie Brown had been traded to the Lions for running back Jerome Harrison and a seventh-round draft pick.  Like every trade, the deal was subject to both players passing a physical.

Harrison apparently didn’t.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the deal has been voided, due to Harrison’s “health issues.”

Curiously, Harrison didn’t appear anywhere on the Week Six injury report, and he wasn’t generally known to be injured.

Maybe the Eagles doctors decided during the physical that Harrison had dirt on his face.

Regardless, Brown will now revert to the Eagles — and Harrison will return to the Lions.

  1. i thought the trade was terrible from the start. Harrison and a 7th? Mccoy has shown good durability thus far but we need a viable backup, and thats exactly what Ronnie Brown is for us

  2. Would this trade really have helped either team? Probably not. I’m a huge lions fan and I’d rather run Maurice Morris over Ronnie Brown anyways as long as Best is out.

  3. OR … maybe they realized this trade is pointless so they noticed a scratch on his elbow

Eagles n lions: “Well this is awkward”

  5. Wow! Didn’t see this one coming. I wonder how the players will feel going back in the locker room knowing that their team doesn’t want them. No, it won’t be awkward!

  6. It must be awkward for him to walk back in the Beagles locker room…”Hey guys….When I got traded, they were just kidding…Can I have my playbook LeSean?”

  7. Just wondering, say the Eagles decided this trade was crap and they didn’t want to do it. Couldn’t they just have failed Harrison, even though he was fine, and kill the trade? What would stop them from doing so? Maybe that’s what happened.

  8. @ captainwisom8888 ronnie brown isnt even lesean mccoy’s backup he hasnt touched the ball in 2 games dion lewis has been the number 2 on the rare occurance they spared mccoy

  9. Ronnie Brown is going to have a great attitude now…knowing that the Eagles were trying to unload him. It obviously was no coincidence that Dion Lewis was McCoy’s backup last Sunday.

  10. Eagles voided the deal on “health” reasons because they knew detroit got a steal. Harrison had one good year and got nothing left, Ronnie Brown may not have much either but he can still get yards and force defenses to play against him.

  11. Dear Eagles,

We thought you mean JIM Brown. In light of this, we told Jerome to stub his toe and get some dirt in his eye so he wouldnt pass.

    Our bad,

    Detroit.

  12. Philly pulled this crap with Lee Suggs a while back. They are shady when it comes to “passing the physical” criteria in trades after they realize they got ripped off. Nobody should bother trading with this bush league organization.

  13. Must be nice feeling unwanted. Ronnie B wishes he held on to that would be pass in the endzone against the 9ers. He would still be one of the guys instead of “that guy” with the bonehead throw.

Ugh, the same Lee Suggs who had habitual knee problems?

Isn’t that guy out of the league due to injuries?

I feel bad for you. Not only are you a Browns fan, but a dumb one at that.

  15. PFT just made a rule that says every time Jerome Harrison flunks a physical, Mike Vick must sit out a game.

  16. Tom Brady woulda got that call on the goal line. Prolly a half the distance to the goal for personal foul.

    But Vick or Brown….FUMBUUUULLLL.

  17. Maybe Harrison didn’t want to get stuck in Philly again so he feigned injury. Maybe Brown didn’t want to live in a city more depressed than Philly.

  18. @sguy2130

Actually, Lee Suggs was traded to the JETS for Derrick Strait in August of 2006 and was subsequently returned to Cleveland for failing his physical. So, to recap, it was NOT the Eagles…

SO, given that the whole Suggs trade was your ONLY support (given that you really have NO idea what went on during Jerome Harrison’s physical) for calling Philadelphia a “bush league organization” then I guess you have no basis for your argument…nice try though…

  19. @ kleahy82486 who cares who is backing up on this team, the eagles are terrible, starting with your head coach.

  20. Must be nice feeling unwanted. Ronnie B wishes he held on to that would be pass in the endzone against the 9ers. He would still be one of the guys instead of “that guy” with the bonehead throw.

The guy that should have been traded was the crappy coach with the boneheaded play-calling. What a moron.

  21. Well, what happens to the 7th round pick? That might be the most valuable asset being traded here.

  22. I guarantee if the Lions upgraded the draft pick that accompanied Harrison, the Eagles would administer another physical which he would miraculously pass.
