Lions fully expect Jahvid Best to play again this season

Some people close to Jahvid Best have told the running back he should consider not playing again this season.

Offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, for one, said Thursday that he fully expected Best to return to the field this year, according to the Oakland Press.

The Lions have been careful not to say much of anything about Best’s prognosis following his latest concussion.  They won’t even rule him out for this week.

The reality is that no one really knows how a player will recover from a concussion.  The Patriots were hopeful defensive lineman Mike Wright would return from his latest head injury, and he never made it back this year.

Ha! No thanks, I thought all along that dude was just trying to get a huge bonus for his past performances. He’s now the Haynesworth of RBs, played until he got paid.

So who are they? What does “close” mean?

Team doctor? Owner? His posse? Agent? Guy who washes his car?

Should he play? No. But we all know he will in a week or two.

Concussions are nothing to mess with. Our awareness about concussions is long overdue and the primary reason why life expectancy of an NFL player is 58 years.

Once you get a concussion you are more susceptible to future concussions. Best had a really bad one at Cal and that increases the probablility of suffering concussions in the NFL. If he’s had 2 already this year and plays one of the most contact positions in the league, honestly from a medical standpoint he should probably be shut down.

It’s really unfortunate but we are talking about a guys long term health here.

When are the players, agents and teams going to smarten up and use something that might suppress some of these concussions. Something like The Brainguard.
