Cowher is a great coach, but Miami is not the right spot for him. Now , the Giants are a team and franchise that would be a good fit for Cowher.

The Dolphins should hire Rob Ryan. It makes a splash with a guy who is hungry and won’t demad too much power. The family tree suggests he will make a fine HC.

When will the Dolphins organization learn? You don’t go after the big name former coach that has been out of the league. No coach in the history of the NFL has won a superbowl with 2 different teams. These coaches have it easy working on tv, making great money, then they realize when they get back to coaching how difficult it is and end up burning out & quitting.
First Jimmy Johnson was brought here, he burned out & left his incompitent friends in Wannesteadt to ruin the franchise.
Parcells had no clue on what he was doing & left his moronic friends here in Ireland & Sporano.
When is this organization going to learn?

We’re just going from bad to worse to worst. Marketing isn’t going to fill up the stadium, wins will. At this point, I’d rather have the celebrity owners run the franchise than Ross.

Peterson has been advising Ross since day one, including ebcouraging the Harbaugh fiasco. He and Ross are idiots when it comes to operating an NFL franchise, and unless Ross gets a better adviser, things will only get worse. While Cowher may be friendly with Peterson, I still doubt he would come here. He is looking to work for another stable organization, and this is far from it. What do you think Cowher’s good friend Marty Shottenheimer has told him about Peterson? Nothing good I bet. No, we’ll probably end up with Herm Edwards.

I don’t have a problem with Carl Peterson being the man leading the Dolphins! Mr. Peterson has lots of experience, which means he has had the opportunity to make his football mistakes earlier in life. He turned the Chiefs around, even though he was about 50-50 on player personnel decisions. Peterson will have to do a better job than Bill Parcels or Steven Ross.

Rumors say that Bill Cowher is on the way! I hope that someone changes the player personnel staff too! Meanwhile back to reality. The Dolphins are 0-5 and we are celebrating the opposing team’s QB! Whatever happened to the Dolphins? Carl! Please fix this mess! Bring in a Dick Vermeil/Bill Cowher/Knute Rockne!

Damn! I just got a text that said the Denver game will be on TV! I gave away my tickets and was hoping to see a powerhouse team or two on Sunday! GO DOLPHINS!

Carl Peterson is a great marketing guy. He’ll get that stadium filled up. Don’t expect many playoff wins or drafts that are worth a crap though. The guy had 20 years in KC to build a winner and failed.

Because winning comes from developing the right habits, attitude and atmosphere. You are correct that after too long a coach loses their knowledge of the modern game, but before that point their habits and discipline are a great roadmap to becoming a winner.

Why bring in Cowher? He’s been out of football for a few years, and it’s not like coaches in retirement can come out and all of a sudden kick ass like they used to. Look for an up and coming assistant, one with a proven track record and one who has a good plan for the team and is enthusiastic. Hire personnel people from a team that drafts well and is smart with how they pick players (Packers org comes to mind), and be smart with the high draft pick they’re gonna get and actually draft a legitimate franchise QB!

Cowher will not go to the Dolphins because they do not have a QB. He has stated in the past he would want a franchise QB for the next team he coaches and that is not the Dolphins.

I am actually OK with this. He’s got a knack for choosing good coaches, and he built some pretty good teams. Every wants to point out the last 2 or so years in KC when the Chiefs regressed….but they completely forget he turned the KC franchise around for the previous 20 years, and I think they won more games than any other NFL during his tenure.

i think they should be careful…i’m wondering if they shouldnt just wait till the end of the season, and plan for Andrew Luck. That’s the only possibility of turning it around, and Oliver co-signing on the GM would be a major plus in terms of signing issues.
