Antonio Gates practices in full for Chargers

It has been a frustrating season for Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, but it looks like he’ll have a chance to start changing that on Sunday against the Jets.

Gates practiced fully for the first time all week on Friday and is listed as questionable for the Week Seven matchup. Gates hasn’t played since Week Two because of a foot injury. There’s been some thought that the Chargers pushed Gates too far too fast in the first two games, something Gates agreed with on Friday.

“I was dealing with it from the beginning of the year,” Gates said, via NBC San Diego. “I think when you’re dealing with something like that, you want to try and pick and choose. Do the things that are necessary to continue to stay healthy … Unfortunately, I was able to continue to rupture it.”

Norv Turner has indicated that Gates will play a limited number of snaps. You’d imagine that those snaps would include any plays in the red zone, giving the Chargers an important target on Sunday. Darrelle Revis will likely be covering Vincent Jackson, leaving Gates as a tough matchup for the Jets defense to stop if they are going to improve to 4-3.

Please let it be Cromartie that tries to either cover or tackle him.

The Raiders still win the AFC WEST. Too physical for the good on paper Chargers

Gates is done, just like the rest of the Chargers.

Hope Gates stay healthy, there isn’t a better receiver at the position when he is on.

The Jets are going to get embarrassed by the Chargers this weekend. Chargers win by 20.

Oh, and @raider23mike… The Raiders should be focused on getting a QB that can finish a game. If you go 8-8 this season, it will be an amazing accomplishment. A winning record this year for you guys would be a miracle. Don’t even get your hopes up for the division though. Building yourself up for heart ache.

Bolts will win the west if they canfind a way to keep Gates,Jackson and Floyd on the field at the same time…..Carson Palmer looks fragile at best, wheres Vince Evans these days?

Yes raider23mike the Raiders D you boast of is such a physical unit that they are giving up 5 yards a carry this season. Some bullies they’ve turned out to be.

Antonio would be winning Superbowls with the Jets if he was on my Rexy’s foot rehab program.
