Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan left the field after suffering a knee or ankle injury during the third quarter of today’s game against the Lions, but he only missed two plays.
Ryan was getting pressured in the pocket when his own offensive lineman, Will Svitek, stepped on his foot. That made Ryan’s ankle bend in an ugly way, and he fell to the turf, rolling around in pain.
It appeared that the Falcons’ medical staff was evaluating Ryan’s knee.
After a couple minutes Ryan got up and walked off the field and to the locker room, without needing any assistance.
Backup quarterback Chris Redman came in for two plays before Ryan returned.
