Santana Moss to miss three weeks

The Redskins will be without their most reliable wide receiver for roughly three weeks.

A league source tells PFT’s Mike Florio that Santana Moss will undergo surgery on his broken hand and should miss three weeks.

It’s a huge loss for an offense that is already struggling to throw the football.  Jabar Gaffney has been solid, but the Redskins don’t have another wideout with more than 60 receiving yards this year.

UPDATE: Redskins coach Mike Shanahan confirmed the surgery and says Moss should be out 5-7 weeks.

  1. My Giants lost to the Skins in Week 1 and the Seahawks two weeks ago. I first thought that the loss to the Hawks was unforgivable but now I am quickly changing my tune.

  2. Another blow to Redskins fans. You guys just can’t catch a break. A meddling owner trying to take every cent he can off you, a has-been coach (and his son!), and a revolving door at quarterbacks.

It’s dark days there in DC…

  3. It is what it is. I’m still saying 8-8 for the skins this year. As a skins fan I’d like more wins than this but you can only do so much rebuilding in 1 year. Even with the injuries I hope most skins fans are still encouraged with the progress.

  4. Tim Hightower torn acl.
Ok well we need draft picks! It’s a rebuilding time next year and the year after should be lookig better. I’m not giving up this year either.

  5. You always have to see the blessing in disguise when injuries occur. Now we can start seeing the young players out on the field as we continue to go through this rebuilding process. To hear all of this negativity from the fans who had unrealistic expectations, just chill out and let this rebuilding process continue. We are just not good enough to compete consistently, and will continue to go through these challenges, but once it’s all put together it will be fun talk the talk to all of the haters.

  6. snyderatto ran the team with stupidity and ignorance nearly ten years.obviously,it can’t be prepared in two years! skins are better than they were last year, maybe 500 if lucky!in time, skins will be in the playoffs under sshanahan, give them a couple of years to rebuild.

  7. Not only do the Skins need a solid QB, they need someone for said QB to throw to. Cooley has been on the decline and Fred Davis can’t do it by himself. After the way Gaffney played yesterday I’d prefer to see what Paul and Austin have got.

  8. Hightower out for year, Cooley out for year, Jenkins out for year, Moss out for half of the rest of the year, Korey out for year, Williams out for a few weeks, Fletcher may miss time, OJ injured….

I wonder if websites like this one who were harping on how “healthy” we were in the first 3-4 weeks will make mention of our littany of injuries now.

Why, would that make you feel better? How about a real QB and solid O line for starters? People who aren’t involved one way or the other with the Skins are still dumbfounded by the decision to go with Beckman this season.

I see we look at things the same way…another thing I don’t see why people have such a negative view of Beck he played decent yesterday and would’ve had better numbers than some of the so called FRANCHISE QB’s if his receivers would’ve held on to balls thrown their way.

  11. Armstrong, Hankerson, Paul, Austin? I think we have solid depth at WR. Moss is a big loss, but Davis and Paulsen can help Beck in finding a scapegoat.

  12. First of all, weren’t the Redskins supposed to go undefeated now that Rex Grossman has been benched? Wasn’t he the source of all their problems? Isn’t that what I’ve been reading all year? Second, don’t the Redskins have more wr’s on their roster than any other team in the league?

  13. Hated to lose Santana Moss but just like someone said earlier,This could be a blessing in disguise! Leonard Hankerson…..Now is your time and the same thing goes for fellow rookie Niles Paul.I can live with the Hightower injury because of Ryan Torain and rookie Roy Helu.I cant live with the London Fletcher injury though.

I have a question for everybody…..Why does everybody get off on the Skins losing? If you are a fan of Dallas,Philadelphia or the NY Giants, dont answer. this question is for the fans of those teams that are out of our division!

  14. Really unfortunate whats going on with the Skins. They clearly lack talent on offense, its amazing Mike Shanahan may be able to coach em up to 8 wins.

  15. Hello Terrell? Hi, this is Dan Snyder. Can I call you TO? How are you doing these days? I hear the knee is coming along fine. We play the Cowboys again in 4 weeks, and I can’t stand to lose to them all of the time.

What’s that, you don’t like them either? OK, well here is a big pile of money for you. Salary cap, smalery cap!

See this is what makes this site a joke sometimes…idiots like this! Sad thing is you and others like you probably have no football IQ whatsoever..
