J.P. Losman is back

J.P. Losmanwlynch AP

Sage Rosenfels is out for the season, once again.

The Dolphins placed Rosenfels on the non-football injury list Tuesday and signed J.P. Losman to replace him on the roster. The Giants also put Rosenfels on injured reserve earlier this year when Rosenfels struggled with strep throat and back issues.

Eventually Rosenfels was released by the Giants and replaced Chad Henne on the roster in Miami.

“When I first joined the Dolphins, all tests showed that I was healthy and ready to go. But after practicing for a few weeks, especially in the heat, some new indications made it obvious that I need to rest and allow my body to regain all requisite strength,” Rosenfels said in a statement.

I’m feeling mixed emotions on this one.  It’s great to see a Tulane product like Losman back in the league.  (Even if Losman is no Shaun King.)

Still, it’s sad to see Rosenfels’ season end before he could be featured in the leaflet of famous Jewish sports legends.

Mmmm…Sage Rosenfels on a bed of rice pilaf.

Rosenfels has always been an underrated player, he could be starting for some other teams in the league (I’m looking at you, Seattle).

JP is a good guy, though. I really hope he can find a niche in Miami.

His last name is better then his game

  8. pattyarbuccholz says: Oct 25, 2011 5:19 PM

Steve DeBerg (now) would be a better guy to bring in.

  9. seahawks4alltime says: Oct 25, 2011 5:22 PM

Josh Portis should be starting in Seattle, he’s better than TJack and Charlie. We already had Losman. Rosenfels, nah, we’ll pass.

What? Where? Is he in a cop drama on CBS?

    CSI: JP Losman?

    Law and Order: JP Losman?

    JP Losman, PI?

    The Streets of JP Losman?

    Or just….”LOSMAN….man….man….man….”

Just sounds like a made up detective name. That’s all I’m saying.

  13. dvnelson72 says: Oct 25, 2011 5:38 PM

    oh no…. we suck again.

    wait. we just suck.

  14. frostbelt says: Oct 25, 2011 5:42 PM

I’m a Bills fan but hope Losman starts… He has a nice deep ball.

Definitely a good dude for the community. They will win a game or two with him at the helm if he starts.

The Dolphins just got closer to Andrew Luck.

For 2011 though… sorry about your damn LUCK!

  16. z0inks says: Oct 25, 2011 6:11 PM

Rats. I was hoping the Titans might bring Losman in.

    To play RB.

Translation, “It’s really hot down here. Hotter than I remember. Some new indications were, I might actually get into a game and don’t want to be crippled for the rest of my life. Plus that whole ‘suck for luck’ thing really sucks.”

I feel sorry for Tony they have no talent on the team and they blame the head coach.

Tony will be come a head coach in college maybe.

If Miami decides to start Losman, they will be out of the race for Luck. Losman has Tebow’s wheels with Rodgers arm. The only bad mark J.P. gets is his decision making. If he was coached up the right way, he could be a starter for an NFL team. He needs to learn to get better with his timing and learn to not force throws that shouldn’t be thrown.

Buffalo moved him around too much which affected his confidence and he hasn’t gotten a clear shot at a starting job since.

He was always an exciting player to watch play.

I wonder if the poster EJ above is JP’s agent. This guy just talked me into signing him. Mr. Aaron Tebow. lol

Isnt decision making one of, if not the most important pieces to the QB puzzle. It would be like buying a Ferrari with no engine. Are you going to tell your friends it has top of the line wheels, a great interior, state of the art sound system, and the only bad mark is that it has no engine…?

    Sandler played for the Bills?

  24. xxxfixxxerxxx says: Oct 25, 2011 7:41 PM

Losmaniacs are still alive I see.

Losman sucks and just because he swept a couple of blocks in Buffalo doesn’t mean he’s good for a community, he lost his starting job and he suddenly lost his gardening skills, which were better than his QB skills, btw.

  25. commandercornpone says: Oct 25, 2011 7:50 PM

    he’s got the deep arm.

    but can he helicopter?

    Take THAT, Colts and Rams!

  27. Single Filament says: Oct 25, 2011 8:16 PM

I actually see this as a move to try and NOT lose out the rest of the season. Losman is far from consistent but he’s got big game ability.

Ruh roh. They just might start winning games

    Props for the Airplane reference.

  29. whoknowsnothing says: Oct 25, 2011 8:55 PM

Why not just bring in Daunte Culpepper?

If Losman gets another shot why not him.

  30. pafinfan72 says: Oct 25, 2011 8:59 PM

What’s the deal with Pat Devlin….He is on the Taxi Squad(sorry just loved that term). If they signed him as a free agent..they must’ve liked him. The “U” wanted him…Penn State took him(Joe Pa is crazy so he didn’t get a shot) and did well at Delaware…I also watched him single handedly beat my son’s High School football team…and my son’s team was a favorite to win the Pa. State Championship…so at least throw him the ball for a series or two….JP Losman…he blows.

I agree, they can win one or two games a year with him starting.

Wait are u being serious right now? Did you just compare him to Rodgers? And are you saying he is the answer to Miami’s problems and will guide them to the win column?
    Really?

    Really?

On your last point, don’t despair Mr.Rosenthal.Losman is half Jewish!!!

im no NFL qb but isnt
that a pretty important part of the qb’s game?

maybe they can resign ted ginn and just throw streaks and go patterns 29 times a game..sure he had a nice deep ball but short to intermediate routes were where the trouble was….

i had high hopes for him and cheered for him and wanted him to succeed but it just wasnt meant to be

  38. ghostofgilchrist says: Oct 25, 2011 11:39 PM

It was frustrating being a Bills fan when Losman and Edwards were there….JP’s the type that wants to make a big play on every snap….often holding the ball too long, or forcing a deep pass. Trent was the polar opposite…checkdown at the first sign of pressure.

I always had the feeling Losman could be a useful QB in the league with the right coaching. He has some skills.

  39. waxthat says: Oct 26, 2011 1:21 AM

IMO, the pic looks like JP Losman

  40. catquick says: Oct 26, 2011 1:28 AM

He won a title in the UFL….back when they had money.

  41. trollaikman8 says: Oct 26, 2011 2:14 AM

Has anyone really seen Keanu Reeves and JP Losman in the same room? Just saying.

  42. tatum064 says: Oct 26, 2011 5:17 AM

He got some tough breaks…decision making is everything. But he’s got guts and a deep arm. If he has settled down, it may just work out down the road for the Fins.

And who’s to say, Luck wont pull an Eli Manning and refuse to sign if Dolphins take him no. 1 – they could still get a kings ransom of picks for the first overall and really get things going . If they get the right GM in place.

  43. ticklemepickle77 says: Oct 26, 2011 7:39 AM

I think Seattle could still use J.P. He might be better than their current group.

  44. agelardi says: Oct 26, 2011 12:02 PM

The Dolphins are cursed at QB.
