And tell me again what Carroll gave up for Whitehurst?

It’s not easy when you don’t have the 5 star pipeline to your college, is it?

Since when is swaping 2nd round picks in 2011 and a 3rd rounder we got in trade from another team a bad deal?

Seahawks4alltime,

You may be right about that. How I remember it was they mentioned an issue with the sun being a problem before the ball was even kicked though. They did not say, “he’s got his hand up to shield the sun in order to field the ball”. It was simply, “He put his hand up”, while the ball was in the air. In either case I thought the officiating stunk. I agree with ninerdynasty about this crew. They are horrible. When the game first started and I saw who the crew was I said to myself, look for lots of flags in this game. The head official just can’t get enough face time on tv it seems, hence the flags strewn all over the field all game long.

--------------------------------------------------

The signal for a fair catch is not a player raising their hand in the air to block the sun. The signal for a fair catch is a player raising their hand above their head and moving it from side to side and back again. This rule was implemented so officials could tell the difference between a player calling for a fair catch and a player trying to see the ball. Leon Washington was blocking the sun.

Everyone knows that the refs in the NFL are horrible and they are even more horrible this season with all the stupid new rules they need to TRY to enforce. Every team can complain that they lost a game or at least a chance to win a game because of horrible calls.
The Niners would be undefeated if not for a flat out horrible call of a D lineman lining up in the neutral zone. The replay showed he was NOT off sides at all and the next play he was lined up in exactly the same spot and nothing was called .Too bad that it was 4th down and the Boys were punting,if not for that bogus call and too bad for the Niners that the Boys scored on a long pass play on the very next play(that never would have happened if they punt !). The Niners woulda, shoulda, coulda, won that game ,but the refs messed up and we paid for it.
BUT every team can cry like that about the sorry refs,so stop crying Pete Carrol and start performing your job MUCH better, like Jim Harbaugh IS doing in SF !

All of you people saying he needs to worry about his offense scoring, instead of whining, are idiots. Try taking your starting QB, RB, TE, and Center out for a game and see how many points your team scores.

It's hard to defend againsts the masses when ur team isn't putting up a good product on the field - but all u can do is support it if ur a true fan, and i'm sure you are. Blown calls all over the league, it won't be the first and hardly the last.

The league needs to start fining these refs for erroneous calls since its so fine-happy nowadays.

It's been too many times the refs have made a severe impact on a game with horrible phantom calls, or more frequently, PI calls/non-calls.

Fine these refs and hold them responsible for adversely affecting the outcome of a game.

If the league fines players for every little thing just for them playing, they need to fine the refs for blowing it.

At the very least, Jon Gruden made a very very very great point last week when he proposed that coaches should have the ability to challenge questionable PI calls/non-calls because they are the most frequent calls that have the biggest impact on a game.

I'm tired of these refs, start finin' em!

It was indeed a horrible example of officiating. And the Seahawks can't play like that and expect to not be a laughing stock. But the best point made so far out of all these comments is the one made by superbowlseahawks... Take out any team's starting QB, RB, TE, and Center and see how they play. That is a GREAT point. I don't know of a team with depth enough to compensate for that kind of situation.

All that being said, Charlie Whitehurst screwed the pooch against the browns. I love the Seahawks and I really wanted to see Charlie do well, but he really stunk it up and so bad officiating really ate away at what little we had going for us.

to the guy that said Seattle was all over the Browns WR's is crazy, dude doesn't know that within 5 yards you can mix it up, Colt's 2 passes father than that were an int and a dropped int, Sidney Rice on the other hand was getting held and interfered with on every play. Then our one pass in the endzone they even slow mo'd the replay to show his arms were hit before the ball was there. Game tape don't lie.

Seahawks4alltime,

You may be right about that. How I remember it was they mentioned an issue with the sun being a problem before the ball was even kicked though. They did not say, "he's got his hand up to shield the sun in order to field the ball". It was simply, "He put his hand up", while the ball was in the air. In either case I thought the officiating stunk. I agree with ninerdynasty about this crew. They are horrible. When the game first started and I saw who the crew was I said to myself, look for lots of flags in this game. The head official just can't get enough face time on tv it seems, hence the flags strewn all over the field all game long.

"Quit whining."

Take your own advice. Most folks here are simply saying that no one likes to see the refs make such a difference in the outcome of a game. If the game had been called properly then it would have been a better game between two teams that just didn't play well offensively.

If any of you heard the interview you would have a different view. Pete was asked about the call and he gave the officials credit that it was a hard call cause the angles. He also said that his team should never have been in a position to let that call affect their game. The quote that smith used was a snippet from a 20 min interview. It was a poorly officiated game, both sides of the ball. As to the Seahawk DB's being all over the Brown WR, thats laughable. Either way it was a terrible game, whose outcome was changed by a poor officiating crew.

The League decided to try and prevent injuries in the return game. They moved the kickoffs up 5 yards and they apparently have told the officials to call everything possible on kickoff and punt returns. I don't know what the percentage of penalties called in punt returns (non touch back or fair catch) but it seems like it is over 50%. They are calling penalties for what MIGHT have happened rather than what they see.

Did Pete Carroll talk about how one of the Seattle defenders committed blatant pass interference in the end zone against a Browns receiver that wasn't called? No? He forgot to mention that one? How convenient.

That play may have robbed the Browns of a TD just like the "block in the back" robbed the Seahawks of one. There. Now everything's even. Quit whining.

"What about running after signaling fair catch?"

I remember exactly what you're referring to, but you are not representing it right at all. Mora was talking, at that point in time, about the sun playing a factor, and Leon Washington had his hand up to block the sunlight from his eyes. That's what they were talking about. It's "not verbatim" but my representation is closer than yours. He was not signaling for a fair catch. It was obvious that he was blocking the sunlight and NOT calling for a fair catch.

I sort of agree with Pete, this officiating crew is the worst ive seen in a while. They called the niner-lions game too and they were just plain horrible. They need to be looked at.

Now, as for the complaining.. dude, you have betters things to worry about, your team was only able to score 3 points... Submit your weekly complains to the league and get back to work..

On another note, it's Pete Carroll, he's not going to be any better, maybe worst than Pete Carroll at NE or SD.
