Scouts could be sparse at Terrell Owens’ workout

Terrell Owens’ workout Tuesday may be good fodder for his reality show and NFL Network (who is showing it live), but isn’t likely to make a big impact around the NFL.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus admitted to Rachel Nichols of ESPN that he’s not sure whether any scouts will show up to Tuesday’s workout. It could all just be media.

T.O.’s agent is hoping that the workout will generate buzz to get teams interested.  It will also provide some tape to send out.

The bigger challenge will be to make teams forget all the evidence over the years that Owens isn’t exactly a model team player.

  1. give it up man. Seriously I find you lame and despicable. You left it all out there on the field against the Pats in the superbowl. Along with your pride, dignity, and respect. If anyone needed some therapy throughout their years as an athlete it is certainly this lunatic.

  2. “The bigger challenge will be to make teams forget all the evidence over the years that Owens isn’t exactly a model team player….”

I believe that most folks that follow pro football closely would say Owen’s last 2 teams (Bills-Bengals) had no issues with him whatsoever.

But hey-don’t let the facts get in the way of a smarmy comment!

  3. You guys are CRAZY! I would love to have T.O. on my football team.

Hey T.O. we play saturdays at 9am. You have to bring your own flags…..we can pay you five bucks a game………..best offer you’re gonna get!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. @ripcityhawkhead… i wouldn’t bet on that. My 1st thought reading this was “aging wr coming of injury…sounds like Redskins ideal candidate”

  5. Here we go with the T.O. comments again. The media constantly derides T.O. because they know it gets ratings and the populace actually believes whatever it reads in the papers on sees on T.V. You all know you want him back on the field so you can have something else to talk about.

  6. Dude! The Ravens should just sign him!!!

All these T.O.-QB dramas are now looking faker than ever!!!! Look at his ex-QB’s later!!!!

    1. McNabb is showing us how less he worked when he could have been better!!!

    2. Romo is mentally weak, period!!! Has NO championship potential and is an overrated beneficiary!!!!

    3. Carson Palmer and TERRELL OWENS were WORKING OUT TOGETHER before Palmer went to Oakland!!!

    4. Garcia sucked in the UFL, Cleveland, and Detroit!!! Was a “game manager” in Tampa and Philadelphia!!!

The media is stupid and knows nothing!!! This guy deserves to be on a team!!!
    WR-needy contenders, sign him please!!!!

  7. Contending teams with a need at WR would be idiotic to not send out a scout to his workout. It has to be worth a plane ticket and travel expenses. I’m liking the Chargers as a dark horse here. That passing game could use a bump and it seems Floyd, Gates, and Jackson are usually nicked up a few times a season. Is that crazy Charger fans?

  8. In a league where Pacman Jones was just re-activated, Mike Vick is revered in Philly and a sexual deviant is the QB in Pittsburgh….we’re really questioning T.O.’s worth to a team?

Bring him back to San Fran, PLEASE!

  9. I actually wouldn’t mine the Vikes taking this guy on for the rest of the year. Give Ponder a nice outside target, maybe the guy Bernard Berrian was supposed to be.

Buddy, we haven’t just heard it through the media, we’ve seen it with our own eyes.

To call this mofo a distraction would be a compliment to him.

  11. If Derrick Mason is still on an NFL team, how exactly is TO done? He caught 10 passes in a game twice last year.

  12. If I didn’t have to work today I’d get my popcorn ready and watch just for the drama and the heck of it.

  13. Lots of snark here but despite all the noise T.O. has had a HOF career and has behaved fairly well over the last few years. If he’s got something left after the injury he could help some teams.

  14. I would really like to see the Cardinals atleast take a flyer on T.O. as they could definitely use some help at the #2 wide receiver position. It will be interesting to see if Fitz approached Cards management about looking into adding a #2 receiver…I personally think T.O. would fit in nicely in the desert…

This is one of the funnier posts I have seen in a while. You list all of these quarterbacks who TO has just gone ballistic on and then you want to see him paired up with Joe Flacco.

For what it’s worth, you you also mention look at what happens to those quarterbacks “years later”. Well, they got old. TO got to play with McNabb and Garcia when all of them were in their prime of their careers. TO imploded. The guy just carries around too much baggage and is a risk to any team and a coach’s nightmare.

  16. why are people such haters on these sites. The man is playing a game that most of you fat out of shape people could ever play. T.O his personal issue with-standing deserves a chance to prove that he can still play the game of football. He takes care of himself better than most. let the man live .

  17. Drew Rosenhaus should teach his clients how to not spend every dime they make as part of his services.

  18. @rajbais
finally, sombody who knows what their talking about. TO is a hard worker, and puts fans in the stands. I’m a TO fan and hope he succedes wherever he goes.

  19. Some of you guys let what your hear interfere with what you see. Either that our you just havent watched any T.O games within the last two years. T.O has been the best wr on the last two teams he has been on. He is an exeption to using age against him because he is known for being in phenominal shape. I get it that he is an easy target and the media doesnt like him, but the NFL is about wins and losses, if he truly is healed from his injury, he will be on a roster and contributing. He would be an instant upgrade in many cities, lets see: Seattle, Washington, San Francisco,St. Louis (partner up w/ Lloyd), Cleveland, Arizona (help Larry out), Carolina (help Steve out), Minnesota (they cut Berrian), Chicago ( Roy who?), Tennessee, and so on and so on..Bottom Line is this guy has ability to help a team out. If your gonna be a journalist, speak FACTS

  20. Love him or hate him, T.O. is still a beast. Lots of people hate this guy because of what they read about him and how he acts on the sidelines. Who cares?!? Catch passes and score touchdowns! Who cares how many people he throws under the bus. That goes on at my job all the time!

  21. paulbrownsrevenge says:

T.O. smells like B.O. stay away from Cleveland.

Stay away from Cleveland. Im 38 years old and Cleveland hasn’t done jack in my lifetime. What is he staying away from? A dynasty? A well run franchise? C’mon man.

  22. Diva or not, he’s always been productive and has kept himself in great shape. If he’s fully healed, he’d be an upgrade for many teams.

  23. @ smarterthantheaveragebearfan
If Cincy had no issue with TO then why were they in such a hurry to dump him?
    Marvin wanted him gone..

Drew, get back to your clients and stop posting your propaganda on PFT.

  25. kosarsmyidol, I agree with you. The bottom line is, the guy produces. I guarantee that he’ll be on someone’s roster by season’s end. The NFL is all about winning. It’s funny how people want these players to be choir boys. They’re football players. There are probably players on every team that are much worse than T.O.

  26. 1st ballet Hall of Fame. 72 catches last year. Dude is probably still in better shape than most WR’s out there.
If they could have only cut his tongue out too while the did his knee surgery though….

  27. But hey-don’t let the facts get in the way of a smarmy comment!

Yes, TO may have finally matured in his age 35&36 year old season. There is a chance that Mr. Owens has seen the light and has become the ultimate team player. Having said that, there is still the chance that Terrell could go into his old bag of tricks and destroy another team. As a GM or head coach the benefit of TO is highly outweighed by the cancer he could potentially bring to a locker room. He could throw a starting quarterback under the bus or destroy the confidence of a young qb who could become the next franchise qb for a team. He could also divide a locker room to the point of mutiny. Additionally, the reality show that he brings with him is a distraction. When teams lose focus they lose.

This is why TO won’t be signed. His only real chance would be right before the playoffs if a team became desperate as they lost some combination of their 1st and 2nd or 1st and 3rd etc.. receivers. Even in that scenario the team can not be sure of his effectiveness coming off of an injury that usually takes two seasons to fully recover from.

On a side note – if you want to call out management and a qb you need to do it like Reggie Wayne. He defended a backup who had never played because he had been there and was showing loyalty to his team. Also he never trashed the guy that came in…..just based it on loyalty. If Reggie Wayne was 37, coming off of injury and without a team he would be fought over. TO is just reaping what he sewed all of those years. It is actually amazing because after his Super Bowl season with the Eagles he was as loved as Rocky in Philly……it was impossible for him to lose that folk hero status….and then of course he found a way.

  28. I was just at a pizza joint for lunch and their big screen tv was showing clips of T.O. working out on NFL Network while The Go-Go’s “Our Lips Are Sealed” was playing over their stereo system. It was kind of interesting.

  29. Is it me or are all of these PRO T.O. comments from guys that just joined today? Somebody joked for Drew to stop posting…..maybe he was right….maybe Rosenhause or his intern or a hired web reputation company is posting…………..

  30. Whoever keeps commenting on the Redskins needing this fool…..shut up!! It was reported that he was gassed, and looked uninterested. Redskins just need to keep with the young guys, and just let them play. We don’t need to go through this drama again.

  31. T.O is in this position because of his own doing. It’s like having a A+ student as a child but the kid keeps getting kick out of schools because of their behavior. As a parent you can not ignore the behavioral problem just because they are an A+ student. T.O is a great WR without a doubt, but it’s all the other issues that come with acquiring him that most teams are not willing to deal with.

  32. Not even one NFL team sent a representative, not ONE.

What does that tell all you Owens supporters?

He’s simply not worth the trouble.

  33. @pastabelly

Well, Flacco has a big arm! T.O. can catch deep balls!

Look at his 51-yard touchdown against the Dolphins in 2009. Fitzpatrick had accuracy issues, but he could throw it deep and he did on that play!!! It was awesome!!!

Plus, the QB scenarios I listed did not just include an “aging” McNabb!!!
