Parson Calmer apparently couldn’t see Raiders receivers on Sunday either. All he could see was red…and white, especially when those jerseys were returning his passes the opposite direction for a score.

And Phillip Rivers can't tell time, even with the big clock in the end zone.

On the topic, on the turnovers, one was a jumped route, another bounced off of a receiver
———————

Weird, people have been saying that about 75% of his interceptions in Cincinnati the past two years.
Eventually, you are who you are, and he’s a middle of the pack QB who gets EVERY out route jumped (no zip on that ball whatsoever.. look at it, it just floats out to the flat). Yes.. he’s better than whats on the roster now, but he’ll never be Brees, Brady, Manning level. Right now, Id take Jay Cutler over Carson.

-----------------------------

I don't think anyone expects Palmer to rise to the Brees-Brady-Manning-Rodgers echelon. But the belief and hope is that he can play at the next tier. The Roethlisberger-Vick-Romo-Rivers level or something close to it (i.e. the Eli-Ryan-Freeman, etc. tier).

Everyone trying to write off the guy after 3 days of practice with a new team before entering a game in a 21-0 hole is just being absurd and revealing the fact that they are just being petty or know absolutely nothing about football.

Jeez, you take a team to the playoffs a couple of times..and that’s thanks you get.

————————————————–

Carson didn’t “take” the Bengals to the playoffs in 09 (he did in 05), an easy schedule and a good defense is what got the Bengals in the playoffs in 09. And just because Carson has played in two playoff games that doesn’t make him a good QB. The fact that he’s only played in two playoff games is kind of bad considering he is in his 30′s. How many playoff games has Carson won?

------------------------------------

Yeah, but this is the Bengals. You have to grade Palmer's performance on a different curve because of that.

When is the last time the Bengals made the playoffs/won a playoff game before Palmer arrived? I'm guessing it was back in the days of the Ickey Shuffle.

I’m sorry Carson actually had 412 yds against my Falcons here at the Dome last year. And when Ocho/T.O. were hurt at the end of the year against the #1 ranked defense (Chargers on Dec 26th 2010) he had his best game. 16-21 – 269 yds 4td’s and 0 int’s. So please tell me how this guy is all of a sudden washed up? Are people actually basing their opinion off of 3 days of non padded practice with a brand new team, in the middle of the year no less??!?! Some people should have to go 1 rd with Tyson bare knuckles when they make comments for the sake of commenting. smh

------------------------------------------------

I am basing it on actually watching him play. But his QB Rating agrees that he's not good anymore.

There is more to consider than just the stats you listed. As someone who watched every game of Carson's for most of his career, I can easily say he's not good and has been over rated as hell since the knee injury. He had a couple good games last year, but not many (3, maybe 4). The Patriots game was not a good game though (you obviously didn't watch it), it was 3 to 24 at half time and Carson looked like crap. After half time the Patriots just let the Bengals make a bunch of easy short throws which inflated Carson's stats.

Carson has had one great year plus one good year. But every other season he has been complete crap.

05 - great
06 - good
07 - bad
08 - He looked horrible before being injured
09 - bad
10 - bad
11 - (will be) bad

And anyone who disagrees obviously has not watched him play

Last year, he led the NFL in most interceptions as a targeted receiver with 12, according to Stats, Inc. What’s more, he has led the league in the category with 43 interceptions over the last five years. And another issue with T.O? He was third in the league in drops last year with 11.
----------------------------------------
not a t.o. fan but i'd like to say that you can twist stats any way you like to make them mean what you want.

considering this:

- in dallas' offense, romo (like he still tends to do) forced the ball to terrell on many occasions. many gms faulted garret's simplistic offense as a reason for the ints

- in buffalo, they had no talent on the offensive line and he played with three qbs that year.

- in cincy, he had very little time to get synced with palmer but he still led the team in yardage.

i'm not an apologist for the guy but i hate when people break the game down to stats and use that as a validation for their arguments.

having said all this, i wouldn't bring terrell to my team even if he is supposedly better than some of the talent we have. talent has never been an issue for t.o., it's been his attitude..

As much of an egotistical fool TO is, at least he lasted a whole season without melting down or becoming a cancer. Then again, it WAS the Bungles and it's difficult to gauge any negative effects he had on the team since they were so bad. TO does work hard but does have alligator arms when the pass isn't close and does have a history of throwing tantrums. Not worth it unless you're desperate for a productive receiver.

i dont know why i bother to read these posts. palmer had 3 interceptions in a half coming in off his couch. he is still the best qb on the team and knows owens better than anyone on the team so if he says he doesnt see him coming there he isnt going there. its time for T.O. to put on a suit and get an analyst job somewhere
