A couple of points:

Sparano should not just up and quit. Make that slug Ross pay as much as possible, simply out of principle.

Parcells surely share the blame in this mess, but I have to admit: if I had a contract that said I could stop working for Ross and still get paid, I would jump on it in a heartbeat.

Implying that a pro coach is trying to lose is a serious accusation.To even suggest that the man is tanking games without a shred of proof is despicable. But considering who wrote the story, not suprising.

The whole Dolphins organization is screwed-up beyond belief. Look at this week’s Losman signing. They go into the season with Chad Henne as the starter, a guy who’s the plain vanilla of NFL QB’s as it is. He gets hurt so Matt Moore, the definition of “a warm body”, comes in. Now he’s nicked so they signed Sage Rosenfels (lol) who’s too sick to play. Then they scrape the bottom of the barrel for Losman. Meanwhile they have a rookie QB on the roster, Devlin, an undrafted FA out of Delaware, I think. They are 0-6. The season is a wash. The coach and probably the GM will soon be gone. The team is pitiful and can’t manage more than a TD and three FG’s a game. What reason can there be to not give this kid a start and see where it goes? If he is so bad he cannot be considered at all, then why keep him? It’d be at least something for the home fans to be interested in, right? What if he plays decently? How much worse could he be? But the Dolphins brain-trust would never consider this, too risky, too chance-y, can’t do anything out of the box. They think like losers.

You can’t win with that crap. Dude’s been completely shat on. Tony, take your bag of cash from that ass clown Ross guy and sail the world until a good college coordinator position or pro position coach spot opens up.

A team that is mediocre to bad for years is caused by the owner. Look at the Cards, Bengals, Dolphins and Lions. They are bad for years with an occasional fluke of winning for a couple years.

Then there are the perpetually mediocre, the Chiefs, Vikings and those like them. Just good enough to keep the stands full without ever being good enough that the owner has figure out how to get around the salary cap.

It’s the owner. That’s the end all/be all in the NFL.

No ill feelings towards Tony Sparano. I was born after the undefeated season, I’m used to mediocrity. Sparano gave me a smile with the afc east crown in 2008, one of few. One I’ll have to savor for a lifetime from the looks of things.

my bet is that extension and Sparano’s thumb on the scale are all the suck for luck plan… he’s expecting the axe, because it’s part of the plan… an extension / severance in order to help out the draft order….

Well maybe Bill Parcells will buy Tony’s house so that he can finish buying the groceries in Miami.

Owner Steven Ross may not be politically correct with his off season actions but he was correct in trying to move Sparano out of his coaching job.

Sparano…………..0 and 6
Harbaugh………..5 and 1

Sparano had player personnel decision making power in Miami. It’s irrational not to blame him
along with the head grocery buyer Parcells.

Parcells NEVER gets any blame. If Norwood makes that FG, Tuna is a one-time SB winner, big deal. Few recall that in May of 1991 Parcells bailed on the Giants (after drafting a FB in the first round, no less) leaving them with no choice but to hire Ray Handley as HC. Then he went on to N.E. and quit before that job was finished so he could “lead” the Jets to exactly nothing. Then he was off to Dallas to play his little ego game, where he once again quit. Then he took the “football czar” job in Miami and bailed on that too. If there’s a Hall Of Fame for swindling wealthy NFL owners, Tuna is in on the first ballot. While the great Tuna was diddling around in Miami the whole NFL passed them by, Now they’re rudderless and saddled with an owner who’s more concerned about the gators and Jimmy Buffett than he is with finding good football people.

This once proud franchise that was owned by Joe Robbie and coached by Don Shula has gone into the toilet (Huizenga and JJ) and further South to Ross and Peterson, JLo, Marc Anthony, Jimmy Buffet, Luke Skywalker, Gloria Estefan, Venus Williams, Kimbo Slice, KC and the Sunshine Band, and other notable superstars.
