Michael Vick says Eagles ignore Rob Ryan’s talk

Shortly after the Eagles were anointed the “dream team,” Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan suggested that “all-hype team” would be a better moniker, and vowed to “beat the ass” of the Eagles.

That got a lot of attention at the time, but as the Eagles and Cowboys prepare to meet on Sunday, Michael Vick says the whole thing is being ignored in the Eagles’ locker room.

“We know it’s a competitive game and sometimes people say things they regret days, weeks and months later,” Vick said, via the Dallas Morning News. “I think from a competitive standpoint, he was just talking. It was nothing that we really paid any attention to because we know what really counts is when you step out on the football field and whoever wins and loses the game, that’s what matters.”

Eagles coach Andy Reid was similarly dismissive when asked about Ryan’s comments.

“I don’t get into those,” Reid said. “We just play. We practice and play.”

The Eagles would prefer to respond to Ryan’s comments on the field.

So there’s at least two things they ignore equally — other teams’ comments and other teams’ running backs…

It’s weak to talk trash before the game, you should man up and cry about getting hit too much after the game.

Angrycorgi was loudly predicting the Cowboys would be the first to win the SB in their home stadium last year.
    How did that work out?
    HA-HA

He better hope they’ve practiced hard. The Dallas D and Rob Ryan both are going to go hard for Vick to try to avoid being embarrassed, yet again.

Of course the Eagles ignore Rob Ryan… They are busy listening to themselves talk about how great they are.

    GO EAGLES!

  11. east96st says: Oct 27, 2011 7:43 AM

Ahhh, the annual clashes between Dallas and Philly. A special time when the Nation holds it’s breath to see which team’s fan-base will claim “this is OUR year” the most and which team will fail more spectacularly.

  12. zyry says: Oct 27, 2011 7:44 AM

So far Ryan seems to be dead on with his remarks

  13. jdandcoke says: Oct 27, 2011 7:48 AM

should i root for the boys to drive the eagles even further away from first place, or should i root for the eagles to give the giants a two game lead…assuming the giants win vs miami….over all three teams (buffalo is going to spank the skins) in the nfc east? i think i may actually have to be an eagles fan this week.

  14. wryly1 says: Oct 27, 2011 7:51 AM

The only thing Rob Ryan has more of a history than trash talking – is blowing 2d half leads. Happens everywhere he’s been, regardless of team, head coach or player personnel.

I don’t see what the problem in calling them the “Dream Team.” As a Cowboy’s fan this year’s Eagles have seemed like a very good dream to me.

  18. sj39 says: Oct 27, 2011 8:17 AM

The Eagles will never win anything as long as they have that low life Neanderthal for a QB. Dogs own Karma and it’s a b!tch Mike.

The Iggles are the NFC equal to the Yets….

    All talk, no play.

It doesn’t matter who you root for, because the Giants will be facing the Patriots, 49ers, Eagles, Saints, Packers and Cowboys after the Dolphins game. They’ll be lucky to have a 6-7 record after that.

  21. phillyfan4ever says: Oct 27, 2011 8:35 AM

Who would listen to Rob Ryan, guys a fat idiot

  22. phillyfan4ever says: Oct 27, 2011 8:37 AM

And for everyone who says Karma is a b!tch for Michael Vick, he had the best season of his career last year, after he got out of jail, then signed a 100 million dollar contract and got re-endorsed by Nike.

    Yea his life sucks lol

  23. scudbot says: Oct 27, 2011 8:45 AM

If the Cowboys win, that’ll make six consecutive home field losses for the Eagles.

  24. voiceofrealism says: Oct 27, 2011 8:57 AM

  25. abninf says: Oct 27, 2011 9:00 AM

Cowboys in LAST place … then let JJ run his mouth.

Which Romo will the girls get this weekend? it’s about time for him to have one of those games that proves that he is overrated again! I believe the Eagles will be ready for this one. I know the fan base will be in high gear and will add some home field advantage. just don’t turn the ball over and Philly should be fine.

Speaking of second half failures….a giants fan had chimed in. Good luck in the second when that schedule gets tougher. My favorite time of the year when giants fan want Eli and Coughlin fired for the 100th time. I think A rod is the only other that new yorkers flip flop on more

Probably will be a disappointing season. I don’t see anyone in the NFC beating Green Bay in the playoffs at this point anyway. But then, Giants fans were not all over PFT in the offseason predicting this was the “our year”. Want a list of Dallas and Philly fanboys that say that every year and then disappear for months after their team is eliminated? Plus, Giants fans saw their team win a Super Bowl less than four years ago. When did YOU get see to Philly win one?

Killing animals for sport, in cold blood = 2 year break, 100 million on the back end. Good fantasy numbers = redemption.

Reid is right. THey just practice and play. They certainly don’t win.

    —————————————————–

How utterly profound. It completely ignores the fact that he doesn’t play, and that he’s wearing two Super Bowl rings.

But let’s assume for the sake of argument that any second half leads that were blown were always Rob Ryan’s fault during his NFL career as a defensive coordinator.

Raiders defensive coordinator, 2004-2008. 60 losses. 14 halftime leads. Browns DC 2009-2010. 22 losses. 5 halftime leads. Cowboys DC 2011 – 3 losses, two halftime leads.

21 halftime leads in 85 losses. In 24.7% of losses, teams that had Rob Ryan as DC blew halftime leads for whatever reason. But these numbers are useless without context. Who to compare him to? I choose Jim Johnson, for no other reason that the fact that he is considered one of the best defensive coordinators of the modern era of the NFL.

Eagles DC from 1999-2008. 62 losses. 14 halftime leads. In 22.6% of losses, the Eagles blew halftime leads for whatever reason.

Not that much difference, really. 24.7% vs. 22.6%, the difference amounts to a little over one game.

  35. jdandcoke says: Oct 27, 2011 9:50 AM

lets let a healthy giants team actually take the field for once and see what happens. i doubt anyone is beating GB, but every other team in football this year has shown the ability to tank. tuck, jacobs and amukamara should all be healthy….i’ll reserve judgment on what the giants actually are when i see the team play healthy for once.

All that and his money is still under control of bankruptcy court. The only thing worse than not having millions is having millions that a stranger controls. Last I checked he’s still about $20 million in debt… until the Eagles have to sue him to get some of their money back, like the Falcons did.

Both Ryan brothers are blow holes together they will never be the coach their father was. As for you Eagle haters it’s time you get off the dog thing it’s gotten old and boring. Romo is the most over rated QB in the league can’t score in the red zone for his life. Eagles will destroy the cowboys. Also isn’t the Americas team saying alot like the dream team crap?

  38. laeaglefan says: Oct 27, 2011 11:08 AM

The Eagles ARE the Dream Team. They’re “dreaming” if they think they’re going to win a Super Bowl.

You’re right Rex, although annoying as hell, never will be the coach his father was, because Rex has actually, you know, won some frickin playoff games as a head coach. Four of them, actually, which happens to be four more than that idiot Buddy ever won.

Good God, the nostalgia some Eagles fans still have for that overrated nitwit is mind-numbing. “But..but, they were fun to watch and had swagger”. Yeah, losing in the first round of the playoffs, twice at home, three straight years is fun. “But Buddy always beat Dallas”. Yeah, during arguably the worst stretch in Cowboys franchise history.

  40. howley1 says: Oct 27, 2011 11:19 AM

lbdpatch, Buddy Ryan was a career .500 head coach and never won a playoff game. Rex is .615 and has won two playoff games.

  41. zeussuperman says: Oct 27, 2011 4:12 PM

Giants fans still living four years ago, LOL.

Especially since, three years ago, they said “Repeat! Who’s going to stop us, the Eagles in the playoffs?” — Whoops. They got stopped. By the Eagles. In the playoffs.

Or last year, when it was “We’re going to run the table all the way to the Superbowl!” — Whoops. Eagles game. Miracle at the New Meadowlands. Blew that entire team apart for the rest of the season, missed the playoffs.

So I can totally see why they’d be mad that other fans are proclaiming this “their year” — misery loves company.

  42. ilovefoolsball says: Oct 27, 2011 7:52 PM

I have no dog in this fight but if I had to choose one team I’d rather lose it would probably be the cowboys due to everyone clamoring year after year about “how much talent this team has”.

The fans are pretty bad too, they’re always in denial and their “don’t mess with texas” mantra is laughable.
