Brandon Jacobs knew the Redskins luck would run out

Washington Redskins v New York Giants Getty Images

When Brandon Jacobs wasn’t complaining about his role with the Giants during an interview with Men’s Fitness, he was reveling in the struggles of his NFC East rivals in Dallas and Philadelphia.

“They have a lot of talent and they’re very well coached, but it’s so thrilling for me to see the Eagles and Cowboys lose like they’ve been doing. It’s so refreshing,” Jacobs said.

Even though the Redskins soundly defeated the Giants in the opener, Washington’s recent struggles don’t come as a surprise to Jacobs.

“Washington, fortunately they started losing; I knew their luck would run out sooner or later,” Jacobs said.

This reminds me of Chris Cooley’s comments about enjoying Tony Romo’s struggles. No harm here. It’s nice to see players enjoy division rivalries as much as the fans.

He definitely has a career waiting for him at ESPN when he retires. He knows ALMOST as much as Trent Dilfer. (sarcasm)

  2. noonie003 says: Oct 28, 2011 10:57 AM

Brandon Jacobs has 116 rushing yards so far this season. Is that bad luck?

  3. cakemixa says: Oct 28, 2011 10:59 AM

Whats with these guys and their magazine interviews?

  4. thompgk says: Oct 28, 2011 11:00 AM

Has there ever been a player that has accomplished so little himself talk so much smack as Jacobs?

  5. isphet71 says: Oct 28, 2011 11:02 AM

Redskins fans should be upset with Brandon. Mostly because he’s right.

  6. nebster21 says: Oct 28, 2011 11:03 AM

Where is Skip Bayless. Oh wait someone on the Giants said this. He will not say. “Way, way, out bounds. I lost a lost of respect of Brandon Jacobs.”

  7. mcconnellrules says: Oct 28, 2011 11:03 AM

Hey Brandon… We beat your teams ass with Rex Grossman as QB and your lucks about to run out as a running back in this league…

Love the smack talk from division rivals tho, that’s how it should be.

  8. dallascowboysfanatic says: Oct 28, 2011 11:04 AM

this commentary is funny coming from someone who has done literally nothing to help his team this season. he would be better fit on one of the underachieving teams in that division because thats about all he has done this season. Brandon is that guy that runs his mouth all night knowing if a fight happens his buddies will take care of it. So u keep running your mouth Brandon and let Ahmad Bradshaw do your dirty work for you

“Washington, fortunately they started losing; I knew their luck would run out sooner or later,” Jacobs said.

we pretty much all knew the same thing…..you dont have to be carnac the magnificent to realize that a team led by grossman/beck is eventually going to spit the bit.

  10. joegibbsisking says: Oct 28, 2011 11:06 AM

Two losses in a row to a desperate Eagles team and an on fire Cam Newton means luck ran out?

  11. dalfanforever says: Oct 28, 2011 11:06 AM

This coming from a guy, while a bruising back, falls when you touch his shoelaces and cries for penalties?

  12. tundey says: Oct 28, 2011 11:07 AM

I like it. Am Redskins fan and I think he’s talking rubbish (anyone can say anything after the fact). But he has a right to say it and am glad he feels that way.

  13. baddegg says: Oct 28, 2011 11:08 AM

Everyone slammed Chris Cooley for openly enjoying the stumbles of another team. Let’s see the posters on here praise Jacobs for doing the same for the Redskins.

  14. waltdawg says: Oct 28, 2011 11:08 AM

Jacobs luck has run out, long ago!!

  15. fairbrayed says: Oct 28, 2011 11:12 AM

    Brandon Jacobs talks too much.

  16. typhilly21 says: Oct 28, 2011 11:13 AM

yea i mean the Giants have had no luck this season at all….

  17. redbullenergydrink says: Oct 28, 2011 11:13 AM

NFC EAST…as good as it gets.

  18. mustyoldclapptrap says: Oct 28, 2011 11:13 AM

Timing-wise, I can see why he wants to say this now. There has been no schedule in the NFL, more pillowy soft that the New York Giants and things are about to get awful ugly for them. After playing their 6th cupcake of the season this Sunday, it’s NE, SF, Philly, NO, GB, DAL, WAS, NYJ, DAL.

Mark my words… 8-8 is the ceiling for this Giants team.

  19. wethog66 says: Oct 28, 2011 11:19 AM

I wish I would of known Jacobs crippled ass wouldn’t do jack squat again this so I could of used that late round fantasy draft pick on someone more productive. Like Mason Crosby.

  20. robolundgren says: Oct 28, 2011 11:20 AM

How neat, another NFC East player who’s doing more off the field than on it.

  21. maxvv says: Oct 28, 2011 11:24 AM

So go castles made of Rex Grossman.

  22. skins23 says: Oct 28, 2011 11:26 AM

LOL, he should talk. Pot and the kettle. The Giants have been the luckiest team in the league since, well… forever.

I can’t possibly recount all of the games the Giants have won over the years with a lucky call, lucky bounce, or where they otherwise were outplayed but still found some BS way to win.

The 91 NFC Champ, 91 SB, ’07 SB prime examples.

Not to mention being media and league favorites.

GTFO here Jacobs. This guy is a total punk clown.

  23. amanistumor says: Oct 28, 2011 11:27 AM

the jokes on him… Gi Ain’ts historically collapse (exception is last SB run) and their schedule gets oh so hard. These same teams that he’s getting enjoyment from watching lose are turning it around and will roll them.

Good luck with that misreble season as you get your fat ass ran out of town bigmouth!

  24. howley1 says: Oct 28, 2011 11:33 AM

I guess with games coming up against the Patriots, 49ers, Eagles, Saints, Packers, and Cowboys after this week the Giants’ luck may be running out pretty quickly, too.

  25. choknugget says: Oct 28, 2011 11:40 AM

Pretty easy to spend your time talking when you’re not spending time on the field.

  26. adlent says: Oct 28, 2011 11:43 AM

As a Redskins fan I can concur that I knew our luck would run out when we lost some offensive linemen, a solid tight end, top receiver, top running back and had Grossman throwing picks left and right. As it has been pointed out, doesn’t take a genius to see that.

This was a team with no margin for error and really any major success (winning division, playoffs, etc) would have been a real surprise.

  27. giantsamongmanning says: Oct 28, 2011 11:46 AM

You are going to say that the Skins had a harder schedule than the Giants up to this point? Why because of Dallas and Carolina? Give me a break. I know Skins fans had high expectations this year (why, I don’t know) but it’s time to let it go. They are a garbage team with no QB. It’s just too bad you all can’t say HAIL after every sentence now. Believe me we are all going to miss that. Maybe next year.

  28. dukemarc says: Oct 28, 2011 11:50 AM

Please stop talking until you actually produce on the field, Brandon.

  29. cannonballdookie says: Oct 28, 2011 11:53 AM

He should probably keep his mouth shut, but Washington has no talent on offense and it’s starting to bite them in the rear. You don’t need a stud RB or anything, but their whole offense is a mishmash of different parts and castoffs and that won’t work for too long.

  30. localbandhero says: Oct 28, 2011 12:10 PM

    Hmmmm….

Eagles player declares “Dream Team” and they go on a huge skid…

Redskins player talks smack on Cowboys QB and they go through a skid/QB change….

    Giants player talks smack….

Now the Giants need a skid, then someone from Dallas needs to laugh about NY choking…and then Dallas will skid….the wheel in the sky keeps on turning.

  31. skinsfanwill says: Oct 28, 2011 12:18 PM

Is this Brandon “the ballerina” Jacobs talking? My 8 year-old runs harder than him at 55 pounds.

  32. straightcash844 says: Oct 28, 2011 12:21 PM

Didn’t know holding all time Tom Brady to 14 points was “lucky”. Oh you mean that one play to Tyree? What about the one play to Steve Smith that he bobbled up for an interception when the Giants were in scoring range. Oh yeah, forgot that lucky bounce New England got.

  34. jkay1818 says: Oct 28, 2011 12:24 PM

There is nothing wrong with any player on any team talking trash to their division rivals. Pillow schedule maybe, but they have had at least 5-8 starters out every single week since the season has started. They are getting healthy now, so even with their tough schedule things should be interesting. I forgot they have trent dilfer at QB and the retarded brother etc etc…

  35. rwjk says: Oct 28, 2011 12:24 PM

wow, the giants talking about another teams bad luck. i guess the pot really does call the kettle black

I love how this post is on a board about a Giant who’s done next to nothing this season, on the team that the Skins beat week 1.

  37. bigpara says: Oct 28, 2011 12:33 PM

The skins are terrible and lookee here. The Skins fans are upset. The 07 SB wasn’t luck, they outplayed everyone in the playoffs and the SB.

  38. redbullenergydrink says: Oct 28, 2011 12:37 PM

The Redskins are who we thought they were.

“I love how this post is on a board about a Giant who’s done next to nothing this season, on the team that the Skins beat week 1.”

I like how skins fans talk about beating the Giants and all along say it had nothing to do with the Giants injuries. But now that the Skins have some injuries, that’s where all the blame lies for their slide.

  40. nineroutsider says: Oct 28, 2011 12:45 PM

At least the Skins fans are passionate about bad football, even if it is misguided and delusional.

  41. londonfletcher says: Oct 28, 2011 1:13 PM

“But now that the Skins have some injuries, that’s where all the blame lies for their slide.”

I don’t blame crap on injuries. A good team is one who is solid on all lines. If the Skins lose, I’m not going to say that it’s because Trent is out or OJ is hurt. Your backup should be decent enough and the rest of your first stringers should be good enough to make up for the problem. That’s a good football team. Take the Pats when Brady went down. Their team was solid enough to back up Cassel, who was decent enough to do the job. Regardless who was hurt on the Giants D, I still think the Skins would have won that game. The mindset was good, and the players were determined to look good. Rex slipped after that, now Beck is in and nobody Really knows what he can do, but if we lose, I’m not going to say it’s because somebody was hurt.

  42. 808raiderinparadise says: Oct 28, 2011 1:41 PM

Man this guy knows everything. What about the lines this weekend, will the 49ers cover?

  43. dcfan4life says: Oct 28, 2011 1:43 PM

The Skins are 3-3 with close Loses to Dallas, Philly and one solid loss to Carolina. Like anyone would say those are bad teams to lose to.

And how is it luck to be healthy. 3 starting lineman, 2 starting receivers, both starting safeties, 1 starting db have all missed time already this season with your starting TE, RB, and key DT out for the year. Throw in replacing your QB and ya, you struggle some. But when the Redskins struggle its because our luck ran out, when the Giants struggle its because they have a tough schedule, a key injury, a dissappointing effort or some other BS excuse. Brandon Jacobs, when your mouth opens, nothing smart comes of it. I love the jawing, but man you can do better than that.

  44. snowpea84 says: Oct 28, 2011 2:19 PM

    What a mediocre division.

  45. tombradyswig says: Oct 28, 2011 2:31 PM

giants luck running out soon too!!!

  46. blu4l1fe says: Oct 28, 2011 3:27 PM

While I don’t agree with Jacobs comments especially the fact that he hasn’t contributed or really done anything on the field, I do love how the Redskin fan just chalk up most, if not all, Giants win, including their last SuperBowl as luck!!! Are you serious or just really pathetic or sad? Come on, let’s see how the season plays, especially now, that the Giants schedule gets really though. I don’t even want to talk about the Redskins schedule as I could care less and let’s see who comes out in the end. Injuries are a part of the game, if you can’t overcome them then you’re just gonna have to accept them losses. Get over them, the Giants did when the Skins beat them the first game.

  47. gamermwm says: Oct 28, 2011 3:47 PM

Didn’t work out too well for Chris Cooley did it? What happened after he made his comments about loving to watch someone “choke”. Breaks his finger, has knee injuries, ends his season, and then reports are out that he’ll probably have to look for a new team next season

Maybe you shouldn’t be the one to talk Jacobs

  48. jagwar73 says: Oct 28, 2011 5:49 PM

Who runs his yak more than BJ? Guy sounds like a schoolgirl.

  49. walter0247 says: Oct 28, 2011 6:46 PM

hahaha a blind dude can watch that “helmet catch” play and tell you the whole offensive line was holding. if ya don’t believe me go to youtube real quick and feel stupid. All of that is irrelevant though. The Redskins have 1 skill position player left and i don’t really care how many Giants players where out at the start of the season. The Redskins where supposed to be last and the Giants first. Tell me with a straight face that this is still the scenario that’s going to play out at the end of the season. It’s funny… where are all the “class” comments? hahaha

  50. waltdawg says: Oct 28, 2011 7:16 PM

Hey Brandon…I dare you to mention Luck and the Redskins in the same sentence again….Snyder and Shanahan will make sure they get LUCK next year….And our LUCK will replenish

  51. thunderskins007 says: Oct 28, 2011 7:22 PM

as big as brandon jacobs is you’d think he’d be the second coming of earl campbell. add in the fact that until this year the giants have had one of the better o-lines in football. he should dominate. instead he is hurt all the time, runs upright, and has no vision or lateral moves. at best he’s a goal line back/short yardage specialist. he should learn to shut up and maybe get coached up on lowering your shoulder when a defender comes at you. maybe try a stiff arm? he doesnt have much more time left in the league. look forward to when he becomes a cap casualty and then what. when he’s gone nobody but the giants faithfull will remember this turd.

  52. deangelo23hall says: Oct 28, 2011 7:27 PM

His comments are almost as irrelevant as himself.

  53. delakern says: Oct 28, 2011 8:37 PM

Redskins fans your just jealous because you’ve only won 2 playoff games in the last 17 years.

  54. totallydisgusted says: Oct 29, 2011 12:32 AM

Who cares what a pillow soft loud mouth has to say. Aside from their super bowl run the Giants spend half sometimes most of the season trying to get Coughlin fired. This year will be no different. things will get tough and they’ll quit. Jacobs has quit already. just watch him play.
