alright heres my deal im a pats fan and evreyones sayn tebows a horrible qb, but look at tom brady for just a sec hes thought to be one of the best qbs and this year hes put togethr a mediocre year. def nothing to be proud of if your a pats fan.Look to the past as well he has had an elite offensive line and an elite wr core. Tebows had none of these gets hit almost evry play. You cant feel safe behind your big guys if you dont. I feel as if tebow had a decent line and one good reciever like welker, andre johnson, ward, orany good recievr within 2 years the broncos and tebow could be in the super bowl

@cohawkfan:
you could at least READ YOUR OWN POSTS....
YOU said: "what did 9-1-1 do for Muslims?"

I answered: "you either live under a rock or are just totally naive and out of touch with reality if you dont know that Muslims are facing intense persecution in our country as it relates to 9/11."

your followup question seemed more rhetorical than your first (based on the fact that you already stated your opinion on religious persecution) which is why i did not respond to it.

so i'm pretty confident in my comprehension skills...yours, not so much

Where in my post does it say Muslims aren't persecuted? My question was, does 9-1-1 justify their persecution?

So...perhaps u r the one who needs to improve there reading skills prior to posting again?!

Oh, and since u may not understand it, it was a rhetorical question. I am well aware persecution of any religion is not justified.

” i think the catholic church scandal has eliminated Christians from the religious protected class in the media for the foreseeable future. people are just really reluctant to stand up for Christianity right now.”

My comment: So, you blame all Christian’s for the crimes of a few in the Catholic Church and that justifies persecution of Tebow as a Christian? If that’s the case, what did 9-1-1 do for Muslims? Is it justified to persecute Muslims now based solely on their religion?

since you're such an authority on stupid comments, i'm not surprised you made one. first, I referenced the media and other people, not myself. in addition, i was responding to your question about why it seemed so acceptable to bash his faith and not have it defended as YOU assume it would be were he Muslim. and to satisfy your curiosity, no, i dont blame entire religions for the acts of their followers, nor did i suggest any such thing. you either live under a rock or are just totally naive and out of touch with reality if you dont know that Muslims are facing intense persecution in our country as it relates to 9/11. perhaps you could add reading comprehension to your list of talents...but please do it quickly and before you post again.

Honululu, u have drank too much blue kool aid!
Where in your quote of Tebow does he thank God for a win? I see he thanked Jesus and his teammates but for what? Are u a mind reader? He could be thanking him for anything...no injuries, an opportunity to play in the NFL, for his teammates believing in him, or anything.

"Before you talk about comments being stupid, you should do some research! Tebow was asked a question about a His comeback win and his comment was…“First off, I have to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and my teammates … they believed in me for more than 60 minutes,”

Your original post singled out Tebow, whic is my issue. Leave the man's faith alone.

@ honolulubluekoolaid

Why is our business to know that a particular player prays? I am a Christian, not a fashionable one like Tebow and Jennings, and I don’t pray on the job. It should be private or done at church.

And thanking God for a win is as idiotic as thanking God for a Grammy award. You thank your teammates and your coaches and you go home and thank God, not just for the win but for everything you have.

------------

I agree with you, that was my original point, I just did not state as simple as you did. Less words easier to understand. I was just trying to explain my original comment to a hater.

Thanks

Can we please drop the whole "Tebow is in the wrong system" thing yet? Seriously, I have seen him play four games and he has not improved his mechanics at all, and if you watch him fumble against the Lions it's because he was holding the ball low and winding up to throw it, one of the many things he was supposed to be working on. After watching him for a little bit, to me it's obvious that he's not an NFL quarterback, he doesn't keep his eyes down field, he misses his receivers constantly, not only that, he misses them by about a mile, I am surprised he doesn't have more picks. The fact is this guy can't throw the ball at this level, I can't see him succeeding in any type of offense besides maybe the wildcat, and he honestly looks lost out there. To me he seems more like a fullback or tight-end in the NFL, but definately not a quarterback.

Some of the stupid comments posted here:

“First off I am a Christian. I am happy for Tebow that he has faith.
But, come on! Tebow stands up after a win and thanks God for winning a game. It’s just a game. Why did he not thank God for a loss?”

My comment: How do you know what Tebow thanks God for? Maybe he doesn’t thank him for a win? Usually players from both teams pray together at the end of a game.

Many players thank God after a win, a TD, a sack, or other good play. Do they thank God after fumbling, throwing an interception, or giving up a TD?
-----------------

Before you talk about comments being stupid, you should do some research! Tebow was asked a question about a His comeback win and his comment was...“First off, I have to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and my teammates … they believed in me for more than 60 minutes,” (via Athlon Sports).

So yes, he does thank God after a win. And I do not have a problem with it, and in fact I like that players pray with each other after a game.
Where I draw the line is when athletes (any athlete) implies that God is concerned with the outcome of their game. Brett Farve after his first win over the vikings "I prayed to the good Lord last night for a win and he answered it" . Now I can understand when they say "God has blessed me with the talent or ability to play professional sports for a living which makes me richer than 99% of the worlds population and I will use it to help his people".

Religion and sports is an impossible combo. Does God worry about the outcome of a week 7 matchup between the Broncos and Dolphins? Would he be more concerned for the millions of starving children in the world? I am not God, but I hope he has more time for real problems in the world than if a Player beats another Player who also prayed for a win too.

Tebow would probably give up playing tomorrow, if he could save all the starving children in the world, as he is genuine in his faith, but people just need to put religion in persp ective and realize it has no bearing on "outcomes" of games, And that one team is not Good and the other on Evil.

My comment: Since many pro athletes charge for autographs I assume you are upset that he's giving the proceeds to charity, unlike most athletes. How is that being in the spotlight? I haven't seen any self promotion related to giving his autograph fee to charity.

"First off I am a Christian. I am happy for Tebow that he has faith.
But, come on! Tebow stands up after a win and thanks God for winning a game. It’s just a game. Why did he not thank God for a loss?"

My comment: How do you know what Tebow thanks God for? Maybe he doesn't thank him for a win? Usually players from both teams pray together at the end of a game.

Many players thank God after a win, a TD, a sack, or other good play. Do they thank God after fumbling, throwing an interception, or giving up a TD?

"And Tebow is like every other self-important religious fanatic out there: he brings the spotlight on himself with his constant attention whoring for Jesus."

My comment: As I asked in my previous post, please provide a specific example of Tebow's "whoring for Jesus"?

" i think the catholic church scandal has eliminated Christians from the religious protected class in the media for the foreseeable future. people are just really reluctant to stand up for Christianity right now."

My comment: So, you blame all Christian's for the crimes of a few in the Catholic Church and that justifies persecution of Tebow as a Christian? If that's the case, what did 9-1-1 do for Muslims? Is it justified to persecute Muslims now based solely on their religion?

"Tebow is about Tebow. He’s a good guy like Tiger Woods is a good guy."

My comment: This is probably the most idiotic statement on this board. Tiger Woods cheated on his wife witih an untold number of women...and Tebow is equivalent to Tiger? It's mind numbing that anyone could actually believe this...in fact, your mind MUST be numb to say something this stupid.

In Summary: As I mentioned before, I am not a Tebow fan, although I'm staring to root for him, and I am not sure I even believe in God. Yet criticizing and mocking Tebow's faith and religion is taste and classless. Criticizing his QB ability all you want, and I may even agree, but leave his faith out of the conversation.

BTW, I think Tebow sucks as a QB. But, I grew up a huge Steeler fan, and as I recall Bradshaw was utterly horrible early in his career. I believe I saw something in the USA Today yesterday saying Bradshaw's first year completion percentage was 38%. And that's worse than Tebows. You just never know for sure how someone will turn out.

The reason Tebow is so polarizing: I stopped watching my Pats get beat up and watched a little of the Lions beating up the Broncos and the color commentators were going on and on about how Tebow was a winner. The score was 45 to 10 at that point. One of them suggested Tebow was talking a trash and then recanted saying, “I am sure Tebow was wishing him a Happy Halloween. He’s a good guy.”

I yelled my television. Really? It was puke inducing. I felt sick and it wasn’t because my Pats got beat.

That is why people don’t like him. He isn’t a winner. If he were a good guy, he would recognize that he doesn’t give his team the best chance of winning. He isn’t a QB. A “good guy” would play the position that suits him.

@bostonbias:

i see you working, but the comparison between cam and tim arent really as close as you'd like us to believe. First i'll say that i'm with you on the disdain for people hating on the man's religion so i wont be piling on to that argument. it's a free country and he's free to believe what he wants, it's what makes this country great. unfortunately, i think the catholic church scandal has eliminated Christians from the religious protected class in the media for the foreseeable future. people are just really reluctant to stand up for Christianity right now.
The hole in your argument is that Cam's ability and Tim's are not even in the same football stadium. Tebow has looked terrible at the position, by any measure of experience, talent, surrounding talent, etc. he's just been awful. is it the lack of an offseason for a 2nd year qb who clearly still needs time to develop an NFL style toolbox (and he's basically starting from scratch)? maybe the fact that before he hits his 5th step of a drop, he's being pummeled by D-linemen because his line goes on group vacations from time to time? maybe it's because he really cant read a defense yet? perhaps he takes too long to make decisions because he's afraid to be wrong and make mistakes? whatever the reason/excuse, he's been bad, very, very bad.
On the other hand, much of the criticism Cam faced had very little to do with his football ability. They were questions surrounding his character and whether or not it would allow him to be a great qb. they questioned pretty much everything besides his ability to throw a football. meanwhile, the media absolutely fawned over tim's "intangibles" and "all the other tools you want a qb to have", etc. his physical deficiencies were/are just too great to ignore and until he fixes them, he'll never be regarded as more than a TE/H-Back in qb meetings

Lions beat Tampa Bay, Chicago, and Kansas City. All teams with winning records. And they also went to Dallas and beat the same team that beat the Niners in the land of man on man love. The Niners beat the Lions on a 4th down pass against the Lions second string OLB (which he was down before the ball crossed anyways, just because the camera angles were obstructed doesn't mean that's not what happened). The Niners have, hands down, the easiest schedule of any team in the last decade and they are a dominant team now?

And as for johnnyshore, The only Lions player that said ANYTHING before the Niners game was Best. And all he said was that he grew up a Raiders fan and didn't like the Niners. That sure sounds like the whole team saying they were gonna give Smith and the Niners a beating, doesn't it? And you call the 125 passing yards and 1 touchdown by Smith "torching" the Lions defense? You're a complete idiot.

hen Cam Newton was getting less than 1/2 the criticism Tebow gets there was an outcry, particuarly about it being racially motivated. Tebow takes far more abuse than Newton ever did. And keep in mind that Tebow is not out hyping himself. So he has a few commercials, as do many other pro athletes. So what?

If you want to rationale analyze Tebow as a player and say he isn’t very good. Okay, that’s fine. But why the mocking and hating on him as a person and his religion? I’m not even sure I believe in God, yet I find this non-sense despicable. Image his was Muslim and taking this abuse. There would be a national outcry by the news media, liberals, and minority groups every where, but because he’s Christian it’s acceptable?

Young QBs who will one day be good will struggle because he hasn’t adjusted to the pros/speed of the game/picked up the offense, etc.

Tebow struggles because he can’t throw a damn spiral, and he can’t hit open receivers consistently.

That’s why people mock him. Well, that and he’s an uber-douche about his Jesus-love. Religion belongs out of sight, not on the field.

Glad we live in a nation with freedom of religion and not freedom from religion. What a totally classless comment. No one is calling you names over your beliefs, yet for some reason you see yourself as as being self righteous enough to know it all and just attack based on his faith.

Why does TT religion matter when som of you comment on his poor play? I think you have another agenda and Tim is the target.

PS Lions less talk go beat a winning team …oh wait you can’t!
---------------
The truth is that it should not matter.
First off I am a Christian. I am happy for Tebow that he has faith.
But, come on! Tebow stands up after a win and thanks God for winning a game. It's just a game. Why did he not thank God for a loss?
He can't have it both ways. Religion and sports only go hand in hand when praying for both teams safety before and after. To think that God is behind one team over the other, in a meaningless game to him is rediculous! If that were the case, Notre Dame would win every week.
No religion has a stage in sports. Tebow should lead the faith charge off the field like others (Reggie white) have.

An un-named Lions player supposedly says something and they're a classless team. Lions players--namely Suh and Best kicked in the cash to buy a high school team new equipment after they got robbed and had no equipement.

Meanwhile, across Lake Michigan, you have a star QB who disses cancer patients and a roid raging maniac flipping the bird to his own sideline on TV...and they're the cream of the crop, correct?

Much offense to the rest to the rest of the NFL, but I'll take classless any day--it's nice to have a Lions team that actually has a nasty attitude and puts up some W's in the process.

Its kinda crazy how the lions have been the laughing stock of the nfl for years now and once they do good its nothing but negative talk.. If they win they are classless losers if the lose they are even more so.. As i recall there is one player by the last name Sanders that talked a whole lot of trash and was not liked by anyone that wasnt a fan of his team and he went to Canton.. So lets get off the lions talking crap.. And for all the 49er fans that want to say beat a winning team i believe we have and i believe you guys lost to a team below 500 so continue to play in the worst division in the nfl and believe your an amazing team.. I give the team credit they have turned it around but so have the lions..cuz i believe that division made the playoffs with a losing record and u still couldnt make the playoffs.. So keep talking trash just like the 49ers the lions were one 4th down stop from a win.. They didnt get owned but i guess people stick up for their team.. Both games lost were good close games..
