Report: Hakeem Nicks’ hamstring is “all good”

The Giants improved to 5-2 with a 20-17 win over the Dolphins on Sunday, but got some potentially bad news late in the contest when top wide receiver Hakeem Nicks left the game with a hamstring injury.

Nicks said after the game that he didn’t think he would be able to play against the Patriots in Week Nine, but the news is better on Monday. Nicks had an MRI and a source with knowledge of the exam told Mike Garofalo of the Newark Star-Ledger that Nicks’ hamstring is “all good.”

Coach Tom Coughlin described Nicks as “day-to-day” during his meeting with the media, which will probably remain the case as no structural damage doesn’t necessarily mean Nicks won’t run into problems between now and Sunday.

With the Patriots struggling to stop teams from moving the ball through the air, Nicks’ presence would obviously be a huge boon to the Giants offense. Victor Cruz and Mario Manningham have been having good seasons, but the attention paid to Nicks helps them find openings in the defense.

With all three and Eli Manning performing at a high level, the Giants have a much better chance to start the varsity portion of their schedule with a victory.

Maybe the Giants should sign David Tyree for this game. Something tells me he’ll be needed.

I guess we are not counting on that run game to be “performing at a high level”.

Nicks could start the game next Sunday on crutches and the Patriots secondary still couldn’t cover him.

What run game? Killdrive has basically eliminated it from the playbook

He’s always on the injury report. He’ll play.

Nicks could have a monster game against this secondary if he is healthy. The Pats are going to have a tough time slowing down the Giants passing attack. I think the Pats are going to lose 2 in a row this week……

The line has been awful in run blocking. Eli is having a great season. I’ll take it, but as a long-time Giants fan, this makes me nervous. This isn’t Giants football.

Not nearly. The Pats D is a joke now, unlike the stalwarts they were in 2007.

What the PATRIOTS need is videotape of the Giants’ walk through on Saturday. Something tells ALL OF US that’s going to be needed.

We can stop the Patriots’ offense. They CAN’T stop ours.

I was kinda hoping the Giants would take a flier on Choice. Even with the apparent fumble issues, he’d still be a bigger threat than Jacobs at this point. Short of putting up 700+ yards the rest of the season, he’s outta there on that contract.

the giants have become a passing team. the sooner we giants fans come to grips with that, the sooner we can move forward. they have too many young and talented receivers coupled with a qb who can get them the ball to not take advantage of those weapons. bradshaw is a beast but the days of “three yards and a cloud of dust” are over.

hopefully ramses and the prince are ready to make their appearances this week.

They don’t need Choice. They have 3 healthy backs. Both Bradshaw and Ware have proven they can play, and why not give Scott a chance? All Choice has proven is that he CAN’T do it.

The Giants D line is better now than in 07.

That is scary stuff for Tom Terrific.
