Woodley week-to-week with hamstring injury

New England Patriots v Pittsburgh Steelers Getty Images

Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley thinks he’ll be fine after suffering a hamstring injury.  Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the MRI shows that he’ll indeed be fine.

That said, we’re told that Woodley is regarded as week-to-week, even though there’s optimism that he’ll play this weekend when the Ravens come to town for a Sunday night showdown on NBC.

Regarded as a quick healer, Woodley is nevertheless sore after suffering the injury on Sunday against the Patriots.

With James Harrison still out with broken eye socket that happened 29 days ago and James Farrior and Jason Worilds also hobbled, the linebacker-light Steelers need Woodley for Sunday night’s game.

Well there goes Pittsburgh fans’ chances of hooking up with Diamond Foxx.

They don’t “need” Woodley. They need the refs to do what they always do in these games, and that’s rig the game. Unless the Ravens blow them out (see week 1), they have no chance. Refs won’t allow it. Some quotes from yesterday: “It seems like the only way to score on our defense is to get penalties. Penalties that aren’t really penalties.”- Joe Flacco. “I think they just don’t like us.”-Bernard Pollard on the Ravens’ officiating. HMMM….Games can’t be rigged like I’ve been saying for years now can they? Get ready for the rig of the season Sunday night.

If would stop doing that damn kick after he gets a sack

  4. 1buckeye76 says: Oct 31, 2011 3:46 PM

You think they’re banged up now, just wait till the Bengals get done with them

  5. earthtopft says: Oct 31, 2011 3:46 PM

Rest of the Steeler defense is week to week due to “old age”.

  6. rmm1984 says: Oct 31, 2011 3:47 PM

Wow a new low for Ravens fans. Crying about the refs before the game… Pathetic!

  7. yzguy431 says: Oct 31, 2011 3:53 PM

damn leg injuries. if he had a concussion, he’d play.

  8. tmc4real says: Oct 31, 2011 3:55 PM

It is almost hilarious for a Ravens’ fan to complain about penalties after they purchased the buy 2 pass interference penalties and we throw in a 3rd for free package.

A Raven fan talking about refs helping them pull out a game. That is comedy gold. The Cards were brutalizing the Ravens, until the refs stepped in and evened the playing field.

I wonder if Flacco thought he was the Cardinals quarterback, because the only way they scored was on PI penalties in the end zone that were sketchy at best.

    What a joke.

  9. jamaltimore says: Oct 31, 2011 3:55 PM

They won’t be playing against 32nd ranked pass defense in the league Sunday night so they’ll need their defense which last time I checked gave up 35 to the Ravens. They may have shut down Brady but they ain’t stopping Flacco to Boldoin Sunday night with a little Rice on the side!

    above comments are ridiculous hahaha

Every week its the same thing with the Hammy injuries. Players injury them and come back two weeks too early and injure them again. If players were forced to wait 4 weeks they would likely come back at 100% and not have to worry about it happening again.

Didn’t the Ravens come back yesterday due in large part to pass interference penalties? Quit whining.

  13. jh012 says: Oct 31, 2011 4:05 PM

Steelers always seem to keep putting out good linebackers…I dont know who the backup is but im sure he will play well.

  14. mvpolamalu says: Oct 31, 2011 4:11 PM

Funny how everybody still hating on the steelers when were the best team in the afc! To old? I think that was put to rest long ago. Refs? Really? They hate the steelers! Last time the refs made good calls for us was in 2005!

  15. emmettotter says: Oct 31, 2011 4:12 PM

You’re right, Joe Flacco. Things aren’t what they seem. Penalties aren’t penalties. Just like you aren’t an elite quarterback.

  16. mvpolamalu says: Oct 31, 2011 4:15 PM

Oh and we just shut brady down, and your saying we cant stop flacco?! Last time I checked flacco threw for one passing yard against the jags in the first half! And Ray rice bailed him out yesterday!

  17. theravenlives2 says: Oct 31, 2011 4:46 PM

As a Ravens fan, I’m really sad the dude might not play. See, when the Steelers lose (again), we’ll have to spend the next week hearing “well, we didn’t have Harrison and Woodley”. It got really comical last year when Toothlessberger was suspended and the Ravens won at the ketsup bottle. All we heard was “Ben this, Ben that.” We had Ed Reed, a future hall of famer out, and you never heard us bitch!

  18. steelerfannomatterwhat says: Oct 31, 2011 4:47 PM

Without Woodley, Harrison, Worilds & Farrior, the Ravens’ TEs are going to run wild and Rice is going to be open all day. Hopefully, Timmons, Foote, Sylvester and Carter can step up big. Not likely though. Ben is going to have to throw another 50 or so passes in this one too.

Um, yes, you are right. But, you should be aware that every team has an off night every once in a while (or do you need to go back and review the tape of the Ravens against Jax).

6 sacks by Ravens D,Roesthlisberger leaves with a concussion and broken nose thanks to Ngata,Ravens win by 10. The media immediately crowns the Ravens as the greatest in the AFC,and declares the Steelers washed up. Neither prognosis is accurate.

  21. expatpatfan says: Oct 31, 2011 5:07 PM

I’m neither a Steelers nor a Ravens fan, but the number of calls the Ravens got vs. the Cards made the game unwatchable.

On the bright side, I have Ray Rice on my fantasy team.

  22. thebassbiscuit says: Oct 31, 2011 5:13 PM

In reference to the Joe Flacco quote, his actual quote per the Ravens’ website,

“We went to our playmakers, and they were able to make some big plays, and our defense did a great job, really all day. In the second half, they only allowed one score. Once again, a penalty aided a drive, and that’s the only way they score on those guys, is penalties that aren’t really there, I don’t think.”

You can parse that if you like but it was in reference to an inept, Kolb- led offense, not all other teams in the league. There were questionable calls on both sides.

Should be a great game. I live for this week of the season! Go Ravens!

Thank heavens!!! I love our Big Wolverine–if for no other reason than now I no longer cringe hearing the name “Woodley” associated with the Steelers. (For those too young to know, we once had a disastrous QB named David Woodley.) LaMarr was everything we could have hoped and more last night, and we’ll need him next week.

    @americankris …

He said in an interview that he was always low-key and never did any kind of celebration dance. But after he joined the Steelers, his college/hometown mates ragged on him that he needed a “signature” move for big plays. So that’s what he came up with … sigh.

  24. holeinone09 says: Oct 31, 2011 5:31 PM

Hopefully Woodley can play, or Harrison, or both.

You can tell the Ravens game is coming up, the trash talk is starting. Yesterday the Steelers controlled the best QB in the league and an offense that was generating 475 ypg. While the Ravens have a better defense than the Pats, PLEASE don’t try to tell people they have a better offense OR that Flaccid is better than Brady. You just show your lack of football knowledge.

We’ll see next Sunday who gets the last laugh.

    GO Steelers!!

  25. winnersagain says: Oct 31, 2011 6:26 PM

The Steelers will beat the ravens with their backup defense. I love when I hear comments like you might have stopped brady but you wont stop Floppo. How laughable. My stomach still hurts.

At least we won’t have to keep hearing the same lame excuses by fans who say the steelers havent played anybody. I think the Pats and Brady are somebody. Ravens lost to the Jags and almost the Cards. How Pathetic! Ratbirds will have to start getting used to 3rd place in the division after this week. Get ready to eat your own crow!

Are those seriously direct quotes? If so, sweet loser attitudes, guys. Ravens personnel actually manage to sound whinier than a sizable chunk of the fanbase (I won’t say “all,” because it’s not true). Evokes images of the little kid that pouts and says passive-aggressive remarks under his breath because he gets picked last for kickball. Have fun cheering for that.

It’s an injury report, don’t believe it. Misinformation is the lifeblood of the NFL.

  28. jamson64 says: Oct 31, 2011 7:43 PM

The reality is that Flacco is completing around 54% of his passes. That is not that good. So quit whining about the refs. You ratbirds get your share of ref love.

  29. zoltar9802 says: Nov 1, 2011 1:20 AM

Why are steelers fans still pulling the disrespect card? You lost 2 of your first 4, thats why the ‘what have you done for me this week’ press was down on you. Dont fret, all the power rankings you so worship will have you on top after the Pats win and every reporter/talking head has penciled in a steelers-packers rematch in the superbowl. Pretty sure everyone will also be picking the steelers to win this one too. talk about whining

…And speaking of complaining about the refs, Ben please stop begging for PI calls on your pick play, be happy the flag isnt thrown cause its HELLO, a pick play.

Cant wait for this one or the rematch in the playoffs.

We will crush the ravens sunday night. Final score ravens 17 steelers 38 Final. Start dealing with it ravens fans!
