The reason Goddell is waxing lyrical about Suh is probably because, for the first time that I can remember, a player getting repeatedly fined has actually had the maturity and common sense to request a meeting to discuss the issue.

Has James Harrison ever done this? Terrell Owens? Nope, they just complained endlessly about it in interviews and on Twitter instead. Suh is probably a breath of fresh air in the league office right now.

Well, you’re wrong. James Harrison did exactly what Suh did. He requested a meeting with Goodell last season so Goodell could explain what he was doing wrong. He and Steelers owner/president Art Rooney II attended the meeting. Afterward, Goodell praised Harrison just as he’s praising Suh.

if you didn’t notice, the lions defense had 7 sacks and quite a bit of that was directly led from suh drawing so much attention inside. and you know what? i got a huge kick out of suh bouncing around to some tunes on the bench!! i thought it was great! they were out there having a good-ol-time, just the way it’s supposed to be!

I’ll buy that. Goodell has fined Suh for playing the game the right way. That man is a menace. And no, I don’t mean Suh.

But damn. He really ought to try staying out of the media spotlight instead of giving it sound bites. And stop producing bulletin board material for other teams. That way lies ruin.

Suh’s sack numbers are way down this year and while he’s been very good, he’s hardly been dominant. I’d say the rules are hurting him.

Shows what you know. Suh is tied for fourth among DTs in the league in sacks. His numbers are down from last season, that’s true. But at this time last season teams were just starting to game plan against him as an individual, because he was destroying them. He’s constantly double teamed now. Last season, not so much until the second half of the year. He’s also tied for fifth among DTs in the NFL in total tackles. I’d say that’s pretty much a strong season for a guy who hasn’t been dominant.

Tell me, what DT has been MORE dominant than Suh?

This is the problem with people who only look at stats. The kid is just as dominant this season as last season. He’s been doubled and tripled every play all year. People keep expecting 10 sacks every year. It’s not going to happen. If you haven’t noticed the D-line of the Lions is ahead of last year in sacks. Suh is eating up blockers and the others are one on one. He is playing just as good this year as last year if you actually watch the games.

Same idiots say that Clay Mathew’s play has gone down this year and try and attribute that to testing – ignoring that he’s not just a pass rusher anymore. He’s playing a lot more in covereage and doing a good job of it as well.
