Lions are suddenly good on the road

In Week 11 of last season, the Lions lost at Dallas to extend their NFL record road losing streak to 26 straight games.

Since then, the Lions haven’t lost on the road.

One of the most surprising aspects of the Lions’ 2011 turnaround is that they’re suddenly a good road team. After they won 45-10 at Denver on Sunday, the Lions have won six road games in a row -- after winning just five of their previous 51 road games.

Yes, the Lions have followed a 5-46 road run with a 6-0 road run. Even if the Lions lose all their remaining road games, their 4-4 road record would be their best in any season since 2000, the year before Matt Millen took over the front office.

Road futility has been a common theme for the Lions in recent years. From 2001 to 2003 the Lions set an NFL record with 24 consecutive road losses, and then they broke their own record with that 26-game road losing streak from 2007 to 2010.

Less than a year later, that all seems like a distant memory. The Lions have become a team no one wants to see coming to town.
