APNow that the Redskins have slid back to the middle of the pack, there was a chance that other, better teams made a claim for former Cowboys running back Tashard Choice, and that the Redskins secured dibs via their 3-4 record. The Lions, for example, could use help at the position, but their 6-2 record would have put them behind Washington.
Per a league source, only the Redskins made a waivers claim for Choice.
And so the Redskins will absorb the balance of Choice’s $600,000 salary. Though he’s not a vested veteran, Choice could have filed an injury grievance, since he was cut while not recovered from a shoulder injury suffered in Week Seven against the Rams.
Choice, a fourth-round pick in 2008, has rushed for only 75 yards in 2011, with a measly average of 2.7 yards per carry. He became expendable after the stunning emergence of rookie DeMarco Murray against St. Louis. Choice will get a crack at his former team on November 20, when the Cowboys come to FedEx Field.

Murray wasn’t that good the Rams where just that bad. He’s crazy fast though. I don’t think hell have another 100yard game.

Right, he would have had one against the Eagles if they would have given it to him more than 7 times. He had 70 yards as it was and broke a few decent runs before they got way behind and forgot about him.
More importantly, you should be wondering if the Skins will win another game this year.
He was expendable cause he cant hold onto the ball and seems lost
I remember Choice’s debut breakout game. Like many who have come and gone, I thought Tashard had the talent to be an elite runner. Steve Young interviewed him after and seemed smitten by the character and demeanor of the young back. Its a shame when guys like that get let go without a second thought. Regardless, I trust Shanahan to give him a fair shot at running back by committee!
Because the Redskins out smart you all….
SUPER BOWL HERE WE COME
His stats look like Chris Johnson’s minus 12 million or so. Unlike CJ he has no Choice tho lol
Jmann..ur an idiot..b4 I turned the game off, he had 5 carries and 67 yards in the first half! He is a rookie, so within, say, 5 yr career at the least, he won’t have a 100 yd game?
I just can’t believe that Dallas cut Choice instead of anyone else.
I get that he had a cap casualty friendly contract, but with Felix injured, there is a bigger need. Especially with players that can pick up the blitz.
Marty B is going to be cut in the off season, why not get rid of his bum ass??

He had 74 against the Eagles, i know their Run D isn’t that good but had the cowboys been able to put anything together on offense passing he could have had more
Not that good? He had 74 yds on 8 carries. Pretty sure another 100 yd game is in his near future.
“Only the Redskins…”
Yeah. Where to start? Maybe Choice will work out. Or maybe he’ll keep fumbling.
If you were a HC, would you go into a season with a plan to have Grossman and Beck be your QBs? And then switch to Beck after Grossman pooped his pants in one game? I’m sure I wouldn’t.
I think it’ll get worse for the Skins this year. I think the locker room will explode.
To everyone saying he has a fumbling problem, he’s had two career fumbles. Yeah, so they both happened this year, that doesn’t mean he is a fumble machine.
he has a 4.6 ypc average over his career. this is mostly s a 3rd down back.
Simply put, this isn’t a guy you just get rid of. He was expendable in Dallas bc the ineptitude of the coaches and how they saw the depth chart there, not bc of his lack of talent.
The Cowboys could have traded Choice to the Eagles for Ronnie Brown, since the Eagles seem so desperate to get rid of Brown.
CowBabies, enough said. Did they even get off the bus in Philly?
He’ll get over a 100 against the Giants. I’m a Giants fan and even I can admit they can’t stop anyone from running against them this year. When Reggie Bush tears you up for over a 100, you know your run defense is awful.
Poor Choice.
Grulks….he’s had 3. You’re forgetting the fumble at the end of the half of the Dallas/Washington season opener last season.
He would have been traded beforehand had Felix Jones not been hurt….or at least attempted to be traded. There’s a reason only Washington grabbed him.
He fumbled once vs the Skins last year, once vs Stl this year and once vs NE this year…that’s 3 right there. He doesn’t play enough to warrant that many fumbles. He also sucks at pass blocking and doesn’t want to play special teams. Useless!!
“CowBabies, enough said. Did they even get off the bus in Philly?”
No, I’m pretty sure they didn’t even get on the bus that night. But I did see a lot of the players get dropped off at the front door in what looked like your mom’s volvo

Choice is hurt so he wasn’t going to be doing anybody any good for the short-term. Somebody had to go to make room for Bruce Carter. I would have preferred they cut Buehler but bottom line is Choice became the 4th guy and I think they cut him to accomodate him as much as anything else.
the skins are in rebuilding, that’s all i can say.

americas team scored on the eagles. how many did the deadskins score on the bills. well what do you know. they got shut out. well back to last place again.
@igster1
I could never explain how horrible the Skins played on Sunday. As a lifelong fan that I’ll admit that was very painful to watch. But I wouldn’t quite brag about the Cowboys scoring 1 TD and thus weren’t as bad, especially when they got more points scored on them. Both performances were pathetic.
Felix will be back soon, Murray and Tanner were enough to hold the fort down….
Now, on to the label “CowBabies”
Did you come up with that one all by yourself?
Pretty funny to watch Redskins fans work themselves into a frenzy over every free agent signing during the season as if they just got handed a future HOF player in the prime of his career.
Choice has been disappointing the last two seasons. He has the lowest ‘yards after contact’ (1.26) of any back in the entire NFL over the last two years to go along with his 2.26 yds/carry average (and 4 fumbles). The guy drops like a rock as soon as anyone touches him. He never breaks a tackle and is consistently felled by arm tackles.
Injury wasn’t the only reason Dallas let him go. 4 RB & a FB on the roster is a luxury that teams can’t afford. His contract expires at the end of the year (so yes, redskins fans you’ve got Choice for 9 games then he’s a UFA- but then he probably won’t be healthy enough to play for 2-3 of those games so really you have him for 6 games) and he was headed for 4th place in a 4 RB rotation with Dallas looking at him missing 2-3 games, of course he got cut.
Pretty funny that Redskins fans are looking at him as a savior when in reality he was the 4th string RB in Dallas.
