Another T.O.-free Tryout Tuesday

Perrish Cox

Last Tuesday, receiver Terrell Owens worked out for no teams while 53 available players auditioned at facilities throughout the country.  This Tuesday, T.O. once again was ignored.

One guy who wasn’t ignored was cornerback Perrish Cox (pictured).  Though he has received little interest since being cut by the Broncos, the Redskins gave him a tryout despite pending charges arising from the alleged rape — and impregnation — of a woman who had passed out at his apartment in 2010.  Cox’s trial is set for February 27.

Here’s the full tryout list for Tuesday, November 1, per a league source.

Falcons:  running back Matt Asiata, Jason Davis, Billy Latsko.

Texans:  linebackers Josh Bynes, David Nixon, Mike Rivera, Derrell Smith.

Colts:  center Greg Ryan.

Dolphins:  tackle Joel Bell; quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson; defensive backs Antareis Bryan, Ryan Jones, Brandon Underwood, Jonathan Wade, who was signed; running back Kareem Huggins; linebackers Rashad Jeanty and Nate Triplett; tight ends Ben Patrick and Richard Quinn.

Vikings:  running back Aaron Brown, receiver Jamar Newsome, tackle Tyler Polumbus, defensive back C.J. Wilson.

Saints:  defensive backs Michael Hamlin, Jonathan Nelson, Ricky Price, Andrew Sendejo.

Raiders:  receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who was signed.

Seahawks:  linebacker Savion Frazier.

Redskins:  quarterback R.J. Archer; defensive backs Travon Bellamy, Marcus Brown, Perrish Cox, David Jones, Fabian Washington; tight ends Daniel Hardy, Fendi Onobun, Derek Schouman.

Also, the Cardinals had a visit with fullback Reagan Maui’a, who signed a contract.

Vikings have been trying out Offensive Linemen and Corners all season… yet no signings.

On a side note… Leigh Bodden didn’t get a tryout?

Well at least you can’t accuse the Dolphins of not trying to get better..

  3. rexismybff says: Nov 2, 2011 1:25 AM

The Redskins visit the Dolphins on November 13th. Will we get to witness an epic qb duel between McLeod Bethel-Thompson and RJ Archer??

  9. mrcosio says: Nov 2, 2011 2:19 AM

Who gets a work out first, Jamarcus Russell or T.O.?

  10. canjura says: Nov 2, 2011 2:23 AM

I don’t understand how my Rams who need SO MUCH help at nearly every position haven’t had a single tryout Tuesday. are you guys purposely leaving my boys out?

  14. bcjim says: Nov 2, 2011 6:31 AM

I have literally never heard of “RJ Archer”, never.

He should probably start Sunday though.

  15. scudbot says: Nov 2, 2011 6:35 AM

Redskins try out Perrish Cox because maybe they can use him before his trial. They ought to go get Chris Cook from the Vikes too, if he’s allowed to leave the state. He hasn’t been found guilty yet either. Long term downtrend: Redskins team culture. Why fight it?

Guys like Tiki Barber, Terrel Owens, Jamarcus Russell are learning the hard way that when you burn bridges, have a big mouth and act like an ahole you better have major skills to go along with the bs. Once those skills start to slip youll be long gone. Good riddance.

T.O has been such a class act throughout his FA process this year.

I wish more washed up players would just try to kill themselves rather than sponge up the limelight

  18. wewantmoretebowandfavrearticles says: Nov 2, 2011 7:49 AM

The Colts should go sign Brett Favre, Tiki Barber, and Terrell Owens to try to win 1 game this year. Gotta go all-in just to get people to watch them instead of falling asleep during the prime-time games the NFL has them scheduled for.

Perrish Cox and Tashard Choice all in one week for the Skins…

A rebuilding project only Daniel Snyder could be proud of….

  20. mikehockhurtz says: Nov 2, 2011 7:56 AM

Well, the good thing T.O. has going for him is his very successful reality show….

  21. nflofficeadmin says: Nov 2, 2011 7:57 AM

Why didn’t the big homie just rub one out and go to bed.. He’s got to be regretting that he didn’t.

  22. mikehockhurtz says: Nov 2, 2011 7:58 AM

Perrish Cox and Tashard Choice both headed to the Skins….

I guess QB isn’t a pressing issue up in D.C….

  23. okiny says: Nov 2, 2011 8:11 AM

Although this article is really only about 5% about T.O., I think that he wasn’t given a tryout is the most valuable point made in it. I absolutely love the fact that T.O. and Randy Moss haven’t been brought back by any team(s) this year. Although they both probably have something left in the tank and there are teams that stand to gain something from their skills or “popularity”, it had to stop at some point. Hopefully this sends a message to all young players that a “cancer” in the locker room will only be tolerated so long, regardless of talent. My only hope is that the league will start blackballing guys like this earlier in their careers. It’s one thing to celebrate on the field like Ochocinco, and entirely another to create havoc behind the scenes like T.O.

I wonder if Dan Snyder’s wife is aware that he is allowing the Redskins to give tryouts to guys who “allegedly” (ha ha ha ha) raped and impregnated a sleeping guest at his house?

I think she would cancel out of the next NFL apparel commercial if she finds out.

Way to be a high class guy Dan. Just like always……….right?

  25. jacunn2000 says: Nov 2, 2011 8:36 AM

Wow, the Redskins are blossoming into a classy organization..

  26. londonfletcher says: Nov 2, 2011 9:00 AM

“I guess QB isn’t a pressing issue up in D.C….”

Hey, hey, they worked AJ Archer out too… or was it RJ?(can you smell the sarcasm?)

  27. claydefayette says: Nov 2, 2011 9:39 AM

I’d rather have a cheerleader tryout list than seeing this. I guess proving this material is your job and “obligation” to us. Happy 10 years.

  28. minnesconsin says: Nov 2, 2011 9:53 AM

umm… the Vikes may well have tried out a dude named CJ Wilson, but not the CJ Wilson you’re linking to. That CJ Wilson is still an active member of the Packers’ roster. He’s been active every week and had a tackle against the Vikings in week 7.

CJ Wilson is an essential ingredient in the Packers’ alphabet soup — along with AJ Hawk, BJ Raji, DJ Smith, DJ Williams, and TJ Lang.

Dolphins are splashing in the pool a lot… but only one hire… good cover for the real strategy…. suck4luck

  30. Patskrieg dot com says: Nov 2, 2011 10:16 AM

*Whewwww* the Patriots didn’t try out any defensive backs. Must mean all problems are solved.

  31. mikehockhurtz says: Nov 2, 2011 10:22 AM

    Nice one Londonfletcher….

  32. mikehockhurtz says: Nov 2, 2011 10:29 AM

    T.O., T.O., T.O……..sheesh

It’s getting to the point where a Farve comeback story wouldn’t be so bad….

  33. 808raiderinparadise says: Nov 2, 2011 6:36 PM

RJ Archer played QB at William & Mary and had sometime on Vikings roster in 2010. He is waiting for his breakout game in Washington lol
