Hillis frustrated after re-injuring hamstring

Cleveland's Peyton Hillis watches the game during an NFL football game in Indianapolis Reuters

Just when you think Peyton Hillis is back in, his season has taken another turn for the worse.

Hillis re-injured his hamstring during practice Friday. He reacted by throwing the ball he was carrying and his helmet in anger, according to Mary Kay-Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.  He then limped off the field in frustration.

So we hope Hillis’ fantasy owners traded him yesterday when it looked like he had a little value back.

Chris Ogbonnaya figures to get the call as Cleveland’s starter Sunday, assuming Hillis will miss another game.

Best to put him on I.R.
The Browns are going nowhere and rest is the only way to heal his injury.

I don’t believe in any religion, the supernatural, luck, taxes, or glenn beck, but I have to say the “madden curse” has got to be the single most convincing myth I’ve had to consider.

  7. Kaz says: Nov 4, 2011 12:41 PM

Looks like the scheme of fans from other teams voting Hillis in as the Madden winner to save the season of their favorite players worked.

Of course the Browns fans still think he was voted in because he was a top athlete, and world superstar…… They must have missed the memo.

  10. revrondog says: Nov 4, 2011 12:45 PM

I bet if Mike Holmgren rubbed about 8 million a year on that hamstring, I bet it would feel alot better, quickly too.

  11. anthonydilweg says: Nov 4, 2011 12:45 PM

We should be hearing the same story about Forte in the next few weeks

  12. pekkle007 says: Nov 4, 2011 12:48 PM

Shhh… I think that’s the sound of millions of dollars escaping from Peyton’s hands.

  13. mojo5757 says: Nov 4, 2011 12:50 PM

Who’s the second rated QB in the draft? Barclay?

  14. boswivel says: Nov 4, 2011 12:50 PM

    Maybe it’s a Peyton curse.

  15. andre504 says: Nov 4, 2011 12:50 PM

For anyone that does not believe in the Madden Curse, please believe it! I most definitely will be voting for my hated rivals to be on the cover for now on………

  16. dukemarc says: Nov 4, 2011 12:52 PM

Wow, the curse is handing it to this guy with injuries and PR problems…

  17. pkrjones says: Nov 4, 2011 12:53 PM

Keep taking that sage advice from your agent, your huge payday will come any day now. Way to prove your worth on the field ~ woops, I mean on the trainer’s table.

  18. 1team1nation says: Nov 4, 2011 12:54 PM

Wow, he’s listening to some bad advise or something. This is not how you go about getting a new contract. Stay classy Hillis!

    MADDEN CURSE LIVES!

  20. marvsleezy says: Nov 4, 2011 12:59 PM

Like any idiot would have traded for him in FF – Cut him.

  21. mcs040 says: Nov 4, 2011 1:01 PM

yesterday I just traded Peyton Hillis and Victor Cruz for Tolbert, James Starks, Steve Johnson and a tenth round pick. Guess it was the perfect time to get rid of him

  22. vallz5 says: Nov 4, 2011 1:01 PM

A string of injuries made him go ham. (Pun intended)

  23. earthtopft says: Nov 4, 2011 1:04 PM

PHillis is 57 in running back years, so you have to expect these things.

  24. rowdymon says: Nov 4, 2011 1:04 PM

And he reportedly turned down an offer of 5M a year from the Browns. Yeah, that would make me throw my helmet too. He’s lost all leverage…

  25. macgee10 says: Nov 4, 2011 1:05 PM

Haha no one will want to be on the Madden game anymore,

  26. ken0west says: Nov 4, 2011 1:06 PM

He is going to be a good FB for someone next year.

  27. expatpatfan says: Nov 4, 2011 1:19 PM

What do we need to do to get Rex Ryan on the next Madden cover?

  28. Nevis says: Nov 4, 2011 1:19 PM

At least you can’t blame this one on SF…

  29. flowadelph says: Nov 4, 2011 1:23 PM

Why don’t they just put John Madden on the cover

Ha ha, do you seriously think anyone believes that?

  31. Carl Gerbschmidt says: Nov 4, 2011 1:27 PM

You know, at first I was happy that us fans were able to come together and keep Aaron off of the Madden cover, but now I’m not so sure. No way he would have succumbed to the Madden Curse, so we could have ended this nonsense once and for all.

  32. ticalcaldwell says: Nov 4, 2011 1:32 PM

    Hillis….starting to look a little suspect….strep, missing charity obligations….mysterious injuries…..your agent running his mouth……..hmmmmmmm

  33. damnsureis says: Nov 4, 2011 1:32 PM

He should focus on doing more than curls during the offseason.

  34. londonfletcher says: Nov 4, 2011 1:33 PM

Has any Redskin ever been on the cover of Madden? Why haven’t we been winning SB’s for like 10 years?? Dan Snyder must be on every cover of NFL2K.

  35. johnnyjagfan says: Nov 4, 2011 1:33 PM

@mcs040: you really traded Victor Cruz?

  36. bengalsfan52311 says: Nov 4, 2011 1:34 PM

He’s faking! Protesting his contract, just like the strep throat thing. Come on people.

  37. 4gone says: Nov 4, 2011 1:34 PM

    15 minutes of fame/worth…OVER

  38. stilllovemybungles says: Nov 4, 2011 1:34 PM

Maybe next year Madden will have the entire Steeler organization on the cover AND their fans! lol..

  39. schmitty2 says: Nov 4, 2011 1:44 PM

This is actually a “Boys and Girls “club curse brought on by his Halloween night no-show

  40. dietrich43 says: Nov 4, 2011 1:46 PM

Sorry to hear he’s out. Looks like someone else will have to lead the league in fumbles this year.

  41. thetooloftools says: Nov 4, 2011 1:46 PM

Payton Hillis cannot stay healthy, yet wants paid. He has just decreased his value after rejecting a $16 million deal two days ago.
Remeber if you can’t go to college, go to Arkansas.

  42. boiler72 says: Nov 4, 2011 2:17 PM

It’s too bad Vick wasn’t on the cover. Or the whole stupid Dream Team, for that matter.

  43. hrmlss says: Nov 4, 2011 2:35 PM

His agent will tell him next that if he kicks a puppy on TV the Brown’s will up their offer, this train wreck is entertaining at least.

  44. mezanine10 says: Nov 4, 2011 2:36 PM

I will tebow for Peyton Hills’ recovery.

Tempt fate, I dare you. Rodgers will definitely be a candidate again.

Really wish I had heeded the warnings and not picked up Hillis on my FFB team…

  46. johnnyjagfan says: Nov 4, 2011 3:00 PM

I think its all a sham and that Hillis is fine, will start and run all over Houston. Put on a show for the cameras, make us all talk and then he plays.

  47. 808raiderinparadise says: Nov 4, 2011 3:06 PM

Have another HGH biscuit you scrub.

  48. richie500 says: Nov 4, 2011 3:06 PM

This guy and his agents are tools!

  49. ja141762 says: Nov 4, 2011 4:49 PM

I don’t really believe in curses, but this is pretty ironic. As a Cowboys fan, I would like to vote for Jerry Jones or Tony Romo to be on next year’s cover.

  50. jphoops says: Nov 4, 2011 8:52 PM

Curse of the madden cover, this guy stinks . Get him outta there!

  51. fmwarner says: Nov 4, 2011 11:46 PM

At first I was peeved that this flash in the pan made the cover over Vick. I’m pretty okay with it now!
