The San Francisco 49ers have been playing, in many respects, throwback football in 2011. And they’ve accomplished something that throws them all the way back to the early days of the league.

According to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, the 49ers are the first team since the 1920 Columbus Panhandles to score a rushing touchdown and not allow a rushing touchdown in each of the first seven games of the season.

It’s enough to humble even Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall.

“They’re just smashing guys,” Hall said. “They’re just bringing it down people’s throats. That’s something we’re going to have to do is stop the run. We haven’t done a great job over the past couple of weeks. So we definitely know that’s what they’re going to try to do to us.”

The 6-1 49ers face the Redskins at FedEx Field on Sunday, less than three weeks before returning to the area to play the Baltimore Ravens on Thanksgiving night, one of two games that day for which we can all be thankful.
