culpepper had just thrown for 4700 yds and 39 tds. why on earth would they have drafted rodgers?

————————————————–
1. favre just threw for 4,088 yards ands 30 tds the season before thats what winning organizations do

2. daunte culpepper is your excuse…really

That is seriously one of the stupidest arguments I've ever read.

Favre was getting older, so obviously the Packers wanted to get a QB early for when he moved on rather than later.

Culpepper was in his mid-20s, just came off from a season where he set the single season record (that still stands) for most all purpose yards, and the Vikings had way more glaring needs at WR with the departure of Randy Moss.

You're a moron.

@Waggs12, You may wish to retract your comment as you alone proved that everything you stated about WI schools and education is true only in MN. The math you are looking for is not 4×0 as we are comparing wins to losses; we are not multiplying GB wins by MN losses in Superbowls. The math you want to use is, 4>0. That means 4 is greater than 0, hence GB bragging rights are 4 times greater than MN bragging rights. I know this is tough for you to follow Waggs. Try to keep up with the actual math though, ok?
------------------------------------

Actually, you are wrong, if you want to go by a mathematical perspective. The wording of the phrase was "they have 4 times the bragging rights". In mathematical terms, that comes up as:

(GB bragging rights) = 4(MN bragging rights)

If bragging rights = SB wins, then GB bragging rights = 4 and MN bragging rights = 0. Therefore:

(4) = 4(0) which is not a balanced equation

Now, if the phrase was simply "GB has more bragging rights than MN", than that would make sense, as 4>0, but adding the multiplier ruins the application.

BTW, if you were to "multiply GB wins by MN losses in Super Bowls", as you say, that would equal 16, with both teams being on the same side of the equation.

You were really bad at story problems, weren't you?

I find it funny how the Minnie fans think there’s this great rivalry with the Pack. Newsflash for you fine folks… there’s no such rivalry, never has been, and never will be.

The Pack’s rival is, always has been, and always will be, the Bears. The Vikings are merely an annoyance, albeit sometimes a somewhat amusing annoyance.

The Vikings could go, and any other team could take their place in the North and it just wouldn’t matter. Seriously; you people, as well as your sorry excuse for a team, really are that irrelevant.
----------------------------------

And yet here you are, in a thread linked only to the Vikings, posting on a story that has nothing to do with the actual game. For someone who doesn't consider it a rivalry, you sure seem to be interested.....

Oh yeah, and the Packers players disagree with you. Just saying....

“What is the legend of the Vikings?” Ah 51 years of history chocking in the big games. Ah let see, the team with the most players arrested league wide. And probably the biggest blunder of all, the team that not only passed once but twice on Rodgers in the 2005 draft. A team destined for the dunk heap.

just remember your current coach had the #1 pick and pass on him too. Please troll some else. I live in WI and can throw around trash if I want too, he is a little, Barry Sanders! That would have been a nice pick.

As for the Packers Vikings rivalry, it is very much true and alive up here in Superior, WI, and anywhere else in the northern half of WI. Don't say it isn't one because it is more so than the Bears rivalry up here.

As much as I HATE the Vikings, I hope MN can pull its collective head out of its bum and get a stadium built. Before the Viking fans who choose to flip out over the use of the word hate get pissed of, notice I said the Vikings, not their fans. I only hate certain Viking fans, just like I hate certain Packer fans, aka ones like gb4mn0, who give all sports fans a bad name.

As a 49 year old Bears fan, I would be sad to see them leave. There is a history to the NFL, and the Vikings are a part of that and the NFC Central. The great Viking defenses, the battles with the Bears, even the stupid Viking horn, I have to admit I like - as long as the Bears are 1 point better at 00:00.

I think the moves have settled down a little, no magical pots of gold anymore, if the NFL wants to move a team to LA, let it be one of the teams already on that coast. LA has already shown its ability to lose not one but two teams, I don't see why this is so much in play. What have the public/fans of LA done to support their pro football teams to deserve a third opportunity?

Cutting through the gratuitous noise from fans of other teams, almost all I see here is rationalization to justify a pro or con position.

Do you want the franchise in Minnesota or don't you?

If you don't, there are innumerable other communities that do. If you do, do what you need to to keep it.

So, Zygi is a billionaire. The Packers are worth over a $billion and I have no ownership interest. So what's the difference really?

Would I grumble if my sales tax went up by 1/2 of one percent to keep the Packers? Yeah, but I'd grudgingly approve it in a heartbeat. I'm a Packers fan and I want them in Green Bay.

The Vikings could go, and any other team could take their place in the North and it just wouldn’t matter. Seriously; you people, as well as your sorry excuse for a team, really are that irrelevant.</i>

Here is a clue for you packer rubes. Whenever I think something is irrelevant to me, I do not take the time out of my life to go read and then actually comment about it. If Wilf had a dime for every Packer dupe to comment on a Viking thread claiming how little they cared about the Vikings, he'd have enough to build the stadium! Lol

Then he goes on and continues with hid drivel of it isn't a good deal yet does not offer any hard evidence.
orangeflh:

Your claim that nobody but Vikings fans thinks there's a rivalry between the two teams is utterly and embarrassingly wrong. Wisconsin newspapers, quotes from Vikings/Players, even books on the Vikings-Packers rivalry are all readily available to anyone who has a computer and knows what Google is.

If you don't see Vikings-Packers as a rivalry, that's fine, it'll just be your own little contrived opinion. The Vikings will just be the neighboring team that that is 4 games back in the history of head-to-head games (48-52-1) and has won the only playoff game between the two teams...

That great Bears team that is apparently the only NFCN team good enough to be your rival, the Vikings lead that head-to-head series 52-47-2. Your Packers' overall record vs. the Bears is 7 games behind in head-to-head games (85-92-6).

Have a nice day.

You Viking fans are a joke. Ripping on packers fans? They have 4 times the bragging rights you do.

Here's some 2nd grade math that they don't teach in Wisconsin: 4 x 0 = 0. So to say that the Packers have 4 times the bragging rights is completely ignorant, and a very accurate reflection on the education system in Wisconsin.

Also, it's easy for people to cheer for the Packers, whether they're bandwagon or original. Try being the fan of a team that continually lets you down each year and see how long you stay with it. Kudos to Viking fans who support them each year no matter what. Just wait until the Packers have a bad year and watch how many fans jump ship. I've seen it happen many times with those "fans"

Bears/Packers IS the best rivalry in the history of professional sports, but I won't knock the Vikings role in the NFC North, they are a valued team in the division IMHO.

The idea of trying to form a rivalry with the Rams just seems weird.

On the other hand, if MN does approve the new stadium I can only expect PSLs (if they don't have them already) and higher ticket prices to help pay for the place...

The vikings don’t sell out every game. They don’t even sell out any games. Every week the tv station buys the remaining tickets to avoid a blackout. I don’t consider that a sell out. Don’t you remember the playoff game they had trouble selling out a few years ago?

Yes, they had trouble selling out a playoff game in 2008 because the QB was a joke and everyone knew they would lose. And they did. No, they haven't had trouble selling out any games since then.
“If you think that pro sports do nothing for a local economy then you should see the Seattle Center area
after the Sonics left. Guess everyone will see the impact this year when nobody’s NBA team is playing.”

The Seattle Center is empty because the Space Needle is the only thing worth seeing down there, the only other reasons people would go are music fans who wanna see the EMP and pedos hanging around the Fun Forest. And if those Queen Anne businesses were raking in so much dough from the Sonics they should have pooled their resources together and bought the team from Schultz or paid for a new arena with the help of people like Steve Ballmer.

That was exactly my point the area is in shambles now because there is nothing going on because taxpayers decided not to fix the building. The sonics left, the Thunderbirds built their own arena and left to Kent, and most concerts are in the Tacoma dome now. Just a big building used for Seattle schools graduation once a year. Never said Queen Anne buisinesses were raking in dough just saying those businesses used to be open and the fun forest isnt even up and running. If we had some
things going on in the area people like your so called "pedos" would be run off by the good people enjoying a night out in a beautiful city. That entire area is hurting because of taxpayers refusing to fund and poor judgement by city officials.
