We’ve expected the news for most of the week, but we’ve finally got confirmation about John Skelton starting at quarterback for the Cardinals.
Kevin Kolb is inactive for Sunday’s game against the Rams with the case of turf toe that kept him out of practice all week. Skelton hasn’t played in a game this season, but did make four starts for the Cardinals in 2010. Skelton won two of those games, which is one more than Arizona has managed so far in 2011.
Skelton’s opposite number will be Sam Bradford, making his return after missing two weeks with a high ankle sprain. It will be his first game with wide receiver Brandon Lloyd in the lineup, although Bradford’s lack of practice time might mean their chemistry still needs time to develop. The Rams have A.J. Feeley and Tom Brandstater active in case Bradford isn’t able to go the distance.
The other Cardinals inactives are guard Deuce Lutui, wide receiver Stephen Williams, fullback Anthony Sherman, linebacker Joey Porter, tight end Rob Housler and safety Kerry Rhodes. The Rams will sit wide receiver Danario Alexander, running back Jerious Norwood, tight end Stephen Spach, cornerback Rod Hood, tackle Jason Smith, defensive tackle Darell Scott and linebacker Bryan Kehl.
