Show me video of the Lions playing dirty. Sapp shouldn't talk at all. I remember when he blind-sided Packer guard Clifton and then was laughing about it. Most of the people who are complaining about the Lions playing dirty are the same people who support Goodell's attempt to turn the NFL into Powder-puff games. There is nothing dirty about the Lions, and if you have a DL on your team who could tear a QB in half, you wouldn't want him watched more for penalties than any other player.

Look at the 49ers/Lions game. 3 uncalled penalties committed by the 49ers on ONE play. Maybe in the referees would do their job instead of focusing on one player, the Lions might get a game with quality officiating instead of the garbage calls they have been getting.

People whining about hard, aggressive football is what happens when Dungeons and Dragons dorks move out of their mom's basement and discover Fantasy Football as a replacement.

Guess what dorks...this is what happens when men play real football on a real football field. Bad things happen, tempers flair, personal fouls get called. It happens in college, it happens in the NFL.

The Lions will be the first ones to say that they haven't won anything yet, but that doesn't mean they're the same team that's gonna get pushed around and take it. Detroit has team that actually has some real football players on it. Deal with it...or don't. Either way, start a D & D revival and leave the sport of football to actual fans who not only understand the physical nature of the game, but LIKE it.

I am so sick of this overrated Lions team. Win some games and their bandwagon fans and annoying players and coaches start talking like they’re superbowl champs. Once a Lions always a lion…which means they’ll always be losers."

I read this as: "I am so sick of tired of this suddenly good Lions team that seems like it might be for real. After these wins their fanbase seems confident and won't allow people to make them the butt of old jokes anymore and neither will the players. I am so scared they're for real and my team (probably Vikes or Bears) thus will lose two guaranteed wins per season. Now I'll throw in a throwaway line that sounds profound, but makes little to no sense and make it gramatically incorrect, inconsistent and add some dots and say they'll always be losers even though I know they'll probably beat my team for years now, in hopes of that making me feel better."

Also, who cares, the Lions aren't especially dirty, but if they were, well I'd rather have them be dirty and good than meek and bad.

Cant blame him - That's a Detroit mentality - fits the city, fits the fanbase. You can give thumbs down all ya want and lecture about overgeneralization but its sad but true. The prevalent culture in Detroit is - in your face over the top intimidation. Thats fine when its the football team doing it - they'll pay the price - they will inevitably be beaten by a just as tough but disciplined team that takes advantage of all the stupid penalties amassed in the name of toughness but when the fanbase thinks that being tough and crass and intimidating to opposing fans is part of the culture - is acceptable even desirable behavior then you cross over into the world of pathetic and classless... so I stand by it - it's a Detroit mentality.

Niner fans make me laugh.

The game came down to one play. Before that they benefitted from being on the right side of some atrocious officiating which incuded giving them an extra 5 yards after a punt.

Once they hit the playoffs and the top teams shut down Frank Gore, if Gore isn't IR's by then, the Niners and their fans will have to deal with Alex Smith being the go-to-guy ... might as well surrender during the coin flip. Nothing you 49er chumps say can take that pain away.

And Niner fans know that if Smith was a Lion, he'd be the third stringer being Shaun Hill ...

So, what I can take from some of these comments is that everyone wanted the Lions to remain the "nice guys" who were guaranteed wins for your respective teams if Detroit faced them?

Tough. Wins are what matters in the NFL, and to the fans. The Lions are winning, and some of you just can't accept it. Go get therapy.

The Lions are called dirty, that doesn't mean they are. Atlanta's two whining fools were proven to be out and out LIARS. The Lions don't play the game any differently than any of the teams out there. The same people on here saying that the Lions are dirty are the same ones complaining that the NFL is being made soft by Roger Goodell.

Pick a freakin' side already.

I think it's hilarious that he thinks the only two options are being dirty or meek. That tells you all you need to know about the Lions and the way Schwartz is coaching this team.

Way to signal to the officials you want special attention from here on out.

I don't know who referenced the patriots as one of the beat teams who has never had a reputation for being dirty....... Please see Rodney harrisons reputation. PLUS! Belichek has been caught cheating 4 times! Spygate - 1 putting non injured players on IR in order to protect them from practice squad - 2. Using players on IR during practice - 3. And most recently, bill paying cash to players out of his pocket. I don't know why belicheat is still allowed to be associated with the NFL, but let's not anoint Bill an the pats as some shining example of honesty and integrity

It's called football. Anyone think Dick Butkis or Mean Joe Green were punks? Not to mention that what goes on "under the pile" in probably every game is unsavory. It is a game of men played by men with bad intention...always has been always will be. That should be understood. If you don't like it, perhaps a new pair of panties will make you feel better.

The Patriots have been known as one of the best teams for quite some time, I don’t think there’s a team out there that looks forward to playing them. They’re not known as one of the dirtiest either. Schwartz, you’re logic’s flawed.

Yeah, let's use the team that was fined the league maximum for cheating and had to forfeit their 1st round pick as the model of a classy franchise. Haha

Being labeled as a dirty team hasn't helped the Raiders. And it takes alot longer to get rid of the title than it does to gain it. Watch the PF against Curry on Tebow in the 4th quarter. That was a reputation call.
