Regarding Eli saying that he was elite..I seem to recall an interview where he was asked if he really thoufght he was in the elite class, he stated words to the effect that while he thought he was an elite QB, he thought he was. Now, I would rather have a QB that thinks he is an elite,whether/not he is, than one that goes out there to play to win. on my team. I want I QB with personel drive to succeed if even if Eli just THINKS he's an elite, he got the drive I want out there.

Elii is not a top tier quarterback. Wins is not the measure. He had a great playoff run to win the SB, but he doesn't get there if Favre doesn't toss three picks. And he doesn't win the SB w/o a tremendous defensive performance. If they had picked Rivers, despite his down year this year, the Giants would've been better. Wins? He's 66 -45. A 58% completion pct? That ties him for 58th best all time. A 6.9 yds per att? He's 30 and in his first six full seasons he averages 26 TD's and 19 picks? His passer rating? Sorry, he has had amazing runs, but he is not near the cream of the crop.

Please tell me how Eli is not elite & hasn't been. What is the most important stat for QBs? IMO it's WINS. The most amazing stat I heard last night was that Eli ranks third amongst active QBs in wins since he entered the league. He's only behind big brother Peyton & after yesterday, 3 behind Tom Terrific. That doesn't take into account his tremendous march through the playoffs and Super Bowl MVP. People have hated on him because he hasn't been his brother, however the guy is a winner and it looks like he's finally putting it all together. I think we're about to see a 4-5 year stretch where Eli stays atop the list if elite QBs.

I love all the Eli haters out there saying he will regress, he's not that good, blah blah. I believe you are seeing him just now attaining the status which he is going to have for a long time, that of a top level qb. He's always been clutch and a winner, even when his statistics were lacking, but he's taking care of the numbers now. Sounds like a lot of denial out there, but Eli has arrived for good. And his receivers this year have been a revolving door of injured players, to boot!

Sure, definetly drop ocho, we here in Buffalo will take him. Having watched 5 of NE games, this is by far his best game. He was open alot, made the D pay for manning up. ( See what I did there) If it wasn't for a poor throw by Brady in the EZ, or 2 passes tipped out of his hands, I bet everybody would be singing a diffrent tune. He also looked alot more comfortable out there, big smile and all. I think if they would let Chad be Chad, they would have a productive guy outside of WW. Either way, I hope they do release him, another ding to the BB tarnished armor, and somebody would be getting a guy ready to make some plays.

i couldnt even finish reading the article.

I came across the words "defenseless receiver" and puked a little bit.

There is no such thing a defenseless receiver. If you do not like taking the chance of getting laid out after making a tough catch,, your defense is to be a coward and not go over the middle or lay yourself on the line..

Since the beggining of football, there have been two types of recievers; those that go over the middle and those that don't.. Taking the toughness out of the game is DISGUSTING.
Has Roger Goodell ever played organized footballk? (real question)

& to say that we need to start reviewing the hits.. . cmon.
I couldnt even watch last nights game with all the stopages.. Football has become a joke..
Everything started going downhill with the advent of the "TV timeout'" now it seems like every other play we are seeing flags, or going to review, or plays are being challenged.. There is no flow to a game anymore.

The NFL has damaged the product to a point where we cant even recognize the league anymore.

& to say that we need to start reviewing the hits.. . cmon.
I couldnt even watch last nights game with all the stopages.. Football has become a joke..
Everything started going downhill with the advent of the “TV timeout’” now it seems like every other play we are seeing flags, or going to review, or plays are being challenged.. There is no flow to a game anymore.

The NFL has damaged the product to a point where we cant even recognize the league anymore.

So the Ravens lose to the Jags AND got WAXED by the Titans, both whom Cincy beat but the fact that they are not good teams is held against the Bengals for winning, on the road at that, but not held against the Ravens for losing!??.

But as a long suffering Bengals fan I'm not about to crown these guys yet either. We've had our hearts crushed too many times before. I'm enjoying it though.

Eli is hardly elite. Yes the Giants beat the Pats and Yes Eli made a couple of plays on that final drive but the victory can be attributed to both Defenses, it hardly makes Eli "elite."

Concussions: nice PR job by the NYJ. Still, the stillers did nothing illegal - and by taking Hines' helmet away from him, they controlled his access to the field (and possible further injury). BTW, the Vick comparison is inapposite; he showed no concussive or post-concussive effects when he returned to that game, or since. Every ding is not a concussion - and the NYJ, whom you praise, apparently agree (see answer to #6 above).

I'm going to retract my statement from a few weeks ago, there is only one QB i'd rather have instead of Eli, and that's Rodgers.

Keep all your stats, i want my QB to be able win when it counts. You can not deny that Eli is the MVP, Rodger's is the offensive player of year, but Eli is the MVP.

When you put your team on your back and carry them, that's elite.
