Getty ImagesBears G.M. Jerry Angelo insists that he’s offered running back Matt Forte a “very lucrative” contract.
It hasn’t been enough to get Forte to sign on the dotted line, but Angelo did complete another order of business during the team’s bye week.
Michael C. Wright of ESPNChicago.com reports that the Bears signed offensive lineman Roberto Garza to a two-year extension worth $6.55 million with $2.6 million guaranteed.
Garza has been a stabilizing leader and versatile force for an improving Bears offensive line. He took over as a team captain and switched from guard to center after the team didn’t re-sign Olin Kreutz.

Wow
Why pay Forte, it is not like he is your work horse. It is not like Cutler has gotten better because he can hand it off to a stud 25 times a game. Man, I agree with Chicago hold out until you get a quality back.
Pay the man his monies
He got rewarded for quietly going about his business and he handled himself in a classy way.
Forte… well, not so much!
Good news! Good job last night Roberto!

This has a lot more to do with the fact that Jerry Angelo couldn’t a Hot Dog stand much less a professional sports team.
Forte should pull up lame for the Lions game. That will show the Bears how valuable he is.
The worst thing for Bear team chemistry will be to tag Forte next year. Although 8 million would last me 8 lifetimes, this will send a bad message to his team mates…..Angelo needs to take a trip to see the Wizard of Oz. As far as GM mentalities go in the NFL, there should be a vast surplus of brains there.
