The Bucs brought back defensive tackle John McCargo, who was with the team in the preseason, on Tuesday to take Gerald McCoy’s spot on the roster.

McCargo was a first-round pick of the Bills in 2006, but he never did much for Buffalo before playing out his contract last season. He was traded to the Colts for a hot second in 2008, but he failed his physical and was sent back to the Bills. He started one game in five years and had 2.5 sacks in his 40 total games. He’ll join Brian Price, Frank Okam and Roy Miller in the defensive tackle mix for Tampa.

There’s a pretty big name out there should the Bucs be looking for any more veteran help at defensive tackle. Albert Haynesworth will be on waivers until tomorrow so the Buccaneers could conceivably put in a claim for his services. They were one of the teams that tried to sign Haynesworth before he went to the Redskins in 2009 and the same regime is still running things in Tampa.
