Lions wayyyyy overrated, having lost two of the last three games and on the verge of getting it handed to them, today, in Soldier Field.

After the Bears take their revenge for that mess up on Detroit a month ago, this team will have lost three out of four games. No way a top 10 team.

But look at their talent -- ferocious but undisciplined line, a fragile QB, one monster receiver in Megatron and no running game. This is not a playoff team.

Yeah, but Oakland started Kyle Boller against the Chiefs and McFadden was out of both games. Thursday night's game against the Chargers says it all about the Raiders... they're back.

Giants vs niners is coming at a good time, should be a good one. Reminds me of the late 80s, early 90s when they were both nasty and used to play in the NFC championships.]

yes, but this time the roles are reversed, it's the "jet blue" offense of the Gmen vs the lockdown defense of the niners.

as a lifelong giants fan, that just seems wierd :)

hoping for a classic either way tho. the game might very well decide the r1 bye in the playoffs...

For starters, I didn’t make the original statement. I like Flynn, but time will tell if he becomes a viable starter.

I only responded because you know damn well he played great against the Patriots in his one start and they came up short, largely because they allowed an o-lineman to return a kickoff 78 yards. Then again, I couldn’t expect you to know this. The Vikes weren’t playoff bound, so most of their fans had disappeared. Call it how you like, but you are a joke of a franchise and it’s known nationwide.

Only in the mind of a Viking fan did he play poorly. Meanwhile, Ponder goes 5-20 with two picks in the second half of his first start… a loss…to the Packers…and he’s the second coming? I’d call it hypocritical, but I don’t think Viking fans know any better. You’re just not a people who are capable of rational thought, and you’re all just terrible at debating. Probably the Minnesota Nice thing. Tough to trash someone behind their back on an internet forum.
-----------------------------------

I didn't say you made the original one, just that you were quick to leap to the defense of it. I see you are choosing not to try backing up that foolish claim, as well.

You say he played well. I say that the only completion that went for more than 16 yards was because of Merriweather taking a terrible angle and knocking the CB down. A pick-6 deep in his own zone and another pick on the last drive called back, staring down his receivers, slow through his progressions.... And he was in his third year in the system, on top of it. You may be withholding judgement on Flynn, but many Packer fans see the next great one in him. I see the next Todd Collins.

As far as Ponder goes, if you ask an honest Vikings fan, they will tell you that the thing that gets us the most excited about Ponder is what doesn't appear in the box score. He's decisive, aggressive, and the rest of the offense seems to want to play for him in a way that they haven't wanted to play for anyone in a long time. Leadership can't be taught, and he is a leader that others want to follow, based on what we have seen the last couple weeks. Of course, we saw much the same thing in Jake Plummer when he was young, so we'll see what happens. But the mistakes he makes (veteran CB vs rookie QB) can be fixed.

And do you really want to talk hypocritical? I've spent the last couple years on here constantly pointing out the hypocrisy prevalent in so many Packer fans. Even the ones that thought they were so smart and rational..... Like when we were trying to be convinced that the price paid for Allen was too high, regardless of how well he played. Until, of course, that person was reminded that the Packers payed almost as high of a price for someone who had half a season of college play under his belt, instead of 4 NFL seasons and a couple PBs. And that's just one example.

If you want to go rounds, I'm right here. I guarantee that, by the time we're done, you'll be down to the old, worn-out Super Bowl defense. So bring it.

“Leave it to a Packers homer to think their backup QB is better than 20 other teams’ starters. Give me a break….. So he dinked and dunked a soft Patriots defense and still lost. Woo-hoo…..”
———————-

Leave it to a Vikings know-nothing, bandwagon, fairweather joke to think their starting quarterback is better than anyone. Give me a break…so he went 13-32 with a TD and 2 picks against a soft Packers defense and still lost. Woo-hoo….
——————————

Awwww….did I hurt your widdle feelings? Since you couldn’t leave it alone…..

First of all, how can you call a Vikings fan this season fair-weather or bandwagon? Maybe you should consult a dictionary before you start assigning adjectives to people…..

Second, who brought up Ponder? Oh yeah, you did. I thought we were talking about Flynn here….

If you protest, than I can only assume that you agree with the original statement. So tell me who the 12 QBs you think are better than Flynn are. Then we can ask the PFT posters if they think that Flynn, who lost both games in which he has seen extensive action, is better than the other 20. We’ll see what the people outside Green Bay think of the career 58.3%, 5.9 YPA, 3TD 4INT, 67.4 rating QB compared to the rest of the league’s starters. Go ahead, name your 12, I dare you.

And I’m a know-nothing fool…….. Okay, skippy.

GB needs Rodgers to throw 3+ TD to beat anybody. SF doesn’t need Smith to throw more than 1 TD to beat anybody. Rodgers is much better than Smith individually, but he is not 2 TD better than Smith & Harbaugh this year, and not against this Niners’ defense and special team especially not in bad weather.

*****************************

I would love to see the Niners at Lambeau in January. Niner fan is ALL bent because they drafted Alex Smith over a kid who grew up right outside San Fran and lived his entire childhood a Niners fan. The 49ers even told this kid they would take him #1 overall but flip-flopped before the draft and took Alex Smith. This kids name: AARON FREAKING RODGERS: The Best QB on the planet. (I know you all know the story I just want to make Niner Fan cringe.)

49ers have a better strategy in Jan?

I assume you mean playoffs... I assume you think running the ball and playing good defense are important when facing teams in winter due to the conditions...

Consider where these games will be played...
Detroit
New Orleans
San Francisco
Atlanta
Dallas (hey it could happen I'm a Giants fan and I still am scared)
Tampa Bay (see above comment)
and finally Green Bay (who will make the game a shoot out as they do not have a great D)

How exactly in the NFC does that formula apply unless you are facing the Giants or the Bears... Which last I checked passed better than they ran and the other team has Mike "Who needs to run the ball" Martz as offensive coordinator....

Thank You, I guess putting it simply is the best way to put it. Whats the old saying? The 9ers Whole is greater than the sum of it's parts? The same can't be said about the Packers. There is just too much individuality on that team , Rodgers is having a great year, but by no means is it a team effort. The guys shoulders are broad, but when they face a team that can match them punch for punch, it will take more than #12 to pull out the W.

In other words, regarding the Jets, it should be a win-win situation. But history tells us otherwise.

BTW, any team that lost to the Deadskins cannot possibly be the No. 3 team.

In a fluky Week 1 with literally half our starters out on the entire team and three total weeks of preparation with the guys who played that day?

They're #2 in my personal rankings and #3 is just right. You can't possibly put anyone else before them and it is laughable that people can't see through the smoke and mirrors that is 7-1 SF.

If the Browns and Colts replayed their game right now, the Colts would blow them off the field. We killed our chance for Andrew Luck with three BS wins over the other worst teams in the league. If we don’t have some miracle Colt McCoy drive, his one and only of the season...

Rodgers Brees and Eli Manning all are Super Bowl MVPs and all will most likely be in the NFC playoffs. Fortywhiners trott out Alex Smith and there talking like there going to start a dynasty. Please you guys couldnt even beat Tony Romo.
Packers D has victorys over Rivers Brees Newton and Matt Ryan. Fortywhiners beat Vick and thats it. Even that is looking less impresive with every Eagles loss.

*********************************************
Are you Talking about the same Eli Manning that couldn't beat the Seahawks with Tarvaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst as quarterbacks????? Pretty lame argument there.

I could say something about Rivers, Brees (he lost to the rams right???) Newton and Ryan. The truth is that anything can happen on any given Sunday.

Fortywhiners need to throw on that tape from last year of Donald Driver abusing your sorry DBs. Thats Green Bays sixth best recieving option.

Im a 49er fan and i flew to Green Bay to watch that game. Unbelievable experience! And we got rid of all but one of our DB's from last year so your argument doesnt say much.

And by the way, we also have many more offensive weapons on offense than last year. And if i recall correctly our biggest offensive weapon, Frank the Tank, was injured for the game as well as Alex Smith. If smith continues to manage the game, it should be close.

Oh and i almost forgot, who led the game in yards that game..... oh yeah it was VERNON DAVIS. Youve gotta admit he made your dbs look pathetic also.

Dont worry Fortywhiners you got plenty of games left against John Skelton and Tavarius Jackson and whoever the Rams throw out there
There is no team in the NFL That Green Bay beats up more than the Fortywhiners. What is it like 20 straight now?

If the Browns and Colts replayed their game right now, the Colts would blow them off the field. We killed our chance for Andrew Luck with three BS wins over the other worst teams in the league. If we don't have some miracle Colt McCoy drive, his one and only of the season, and some phantom penalty, this team could be in the drivers seat to somehow screw up Luck's career. Cade McNown is looking up Lucks girlfriend on google right now.

I know they just play the schedule their given but Niners fans have now become as annoying and overconfident as Lions Fans!!!
———————————————————
Niner fans have every reason to be confident; they have a good football team. They remind me a lot of the San Francisco Giants…a team built for the playoffs. That defense can keep them in any game and they are still learning the offense; Harbaugh hasn’t fully unleashed what they are practicing.
--------------------------------------------------
They remind me of the San Fran Giants too. Their offense will disappear when they face a real team like the Bears or Packers in the Playoffs. The old addage that defense wins championships is garbage in today's NFL. Offense wins championships. Defense just keeps you in the game. The 4ers D might stop Rodgers 2/3 times, but he will still lead the Packers to more points than Trent Dilfer reincarnate will lead the 9ers to.
